For example, they prepare for carp fishing and purchase equipment in winter. During the fishing period, you can buy additional consumables, for example, complementary foods. If you take spinning fishing, then one day you buy a reel, fishing line and buy more bait,” the expert said.

For a beginner to go flounder fishing in the summer, he needs about five thousand rubles. You need to buy a rod, a reel and a couple of equipment: weight and bait. In specialized stores there are sets for a thousand rubles, they are suitable for those who just want to try or entertain a child. Before the trip, you need to buy shrimp for bait.

“Fishing for flounder is not a very difficult activity. I arrived, cast and caught, if there were no storms or strong winds. Any beginner can buy himself a saltwater rod and go. He will bring the catch the first time. The casting distance should be from 30 to 50 meters. Fortune will help you catch big fish. You can’t guess in advance,” says Polyakov.

In what cases should fish be released?

If you follow the fishing standards prescribed by law, you can always take what you catch. However, most locals are inclined to release the animals back into the reservoir.

“The majority come to this, about 60%. Previously, fish was prey and food, but now it is more of a hobby and a state of mind. People have everything. They take what they can eat and release the rest of the fish. In equestrian sports, you raise a horse, but don’t eat it after the competition? There is, of course, human greed, but fisheries inspectors can cope with it. We ourselves are interested in ensuring that our children, great-grandchildren and everyone else get something. Now the fish are being heavily exterminated, there are poachers, we can’t get rid of them, we have to fight this,” the fisherman believes.

Is it possible to eat fish caught in the city?

According to a specialist, it is better not to eat fish from the lakes of the city or Pregolya due to industrial waste. It is safer to consume marine life.

“In my childhood, Pregolya was very clean, there was not so much pollution. Now everything has changed. My family and I bake sea fish in the oven. This is the most delicious fish in the world for me, if you don’t compare it with salmon in the Far East. I've tried a lot of fish in my life. If you compare ours and Astrakhan pike perch, ours is much tastier. But everyone prepares it in their own way. It’s like kebab, everyone has their own recipe,” says Polyakov.

How many fishermen are there in the region?

According to Polyakov’s calculations, about 70-80% of the region’s residents are fond of fishing. A Kaliningrad resident would like to open a fishing school and attract teenagers to this sport.

“A lot of young people are starting to catch up. It's good that people are interested. You try to help everyone. This is our second life, second family. We invest our money and soul there. When you get a fish, it's adrenaline. It's hard to convey, these are such emotions. Then you look through the photos and show them to your friends,” says Valery Polyakov.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Valery rarely went fishing this year. The largest fish he caught was a five-kilogram carp.

The largest reservoirs in the region are the Neman and Pregolya rivers. There is enough fish in them, there are about 40 species in total. But fishermen are most often pleased with the bites of carp, pike perch, rudd, silver carp and bream. But there are also frequent cases of catching other fish.

Previously, local water bodies were heavily polluted by sewage, but now the situation has improved significantly. Today you can catch excellent fish on the Rzhevka, Prokhladnaya, and Matrosovka rivers.

Vishtynetskoye is considered the largest freshwater lake in the region. True, one of its banks is located on the territory of Lithuania. The beautiful, clean and deep lake will not leave fishermen indifferent. There are about 20 species of fish in the reservoir. Most often, fishermen manage to catch burbot, whitefish, vendace, roach, perch, bream and many other fish.

This body of water is known to many fishermen for the fact that they have caught giant catfish.

Now, I think it's time to talk about sea fishing. The Baltic Sea is considered a favorite fishing spot for local and visiting fishermen. The large freshwater lake Vishtynetskoye often pleases fishermen. There is a sufficient number of different fish in the reservoir. Most often, fishermen manage to catch burbot, perch, roach, tench, whitefish, eel, vendace and pike. The fish here is not only varied, but there is also a lot of it and its size is quite large.

Lake Goluboye is considered a paradise for spinning fishing enthusiasts. Among the local inhabitants of the reservoir, fishermen most often catch large pike and medium-sized perch. But if you like fishing with a float rod, then you will like roach fishing.

Karpovskoye Lake is an excellent place for fishing. Peaceful fish are found here in sufficient quantities. Crucian carp, tench and trophy-sized carp often end up in fishing cages. And those who prefer to fish with a spinning rod can try their luck in fishing for pike, pike perch or perch.

There is also a Forest Lake in the region, in which there is a lot of small tench and crucian carp. They fish most often with a float rod, less often they use feeder or bottom gear. No cases of predatory fish being caught were recorded.
