Canadian fisherman Ken Fraster's finest hour came in 1979, when he was fishing in the waters of Olds Cove in the fall. Fate presented him with a gift in the form of a giant Atlantic tuna (lat. Thunnus thynnus). The giant pulled as much as 678 kg. Catching such a colossus took the fisherman almost an hour (45 minutes).

On May 1, 2005, a fisherman from northern Thailand caught what many of the world's scientists consider to be the largest freshwater fish in the world - the giant catfish (Pangasianodon gigas). Its length was 2.74 meters and it weighed 293 kilograms. Since it was similar in size to an adult grizzly bear, the locals called it that.
5. The largest pike in the world
On October 16, 1986, a fisherman named Lothar Lewis caught a giant pike 152 centimeters long in Lake Greffern, in western Germany. The giant tiger fish (lat. Hydrocynus goliath) lives in the waters of the rivers of central Africa and is famous for its large teeth. A tiger fish of record size was caught on July 9, 1988 by Raymond Houtmans. The weight of the fish was almost 44 kilograms.
