The future athlete was born in Nizhny Tagil, in 1916, on the first of May, into a fairly wealthy family that owned a sawmill. He was the fourth child of his parents, but the only one who survived; before that, three Starukhin children died in infancy.

Soon after the revolution swept the country, the couple, together with their little son, emigrated to China, and from there, after a while, moved to the Japanese city of Asahikawa, located on the island of Hokkaido. Already in Japan, little Vitya went to school, and even as a child he became seriously interested in baseball. The boy was tall, strong and very dexterous; he demonstrated excellent results on the field and in his youth became a local celebrity, receiving the nickname “blue-eyed Japanese.”

Despite his sporting achievements and career prospects, the young man wanted to get a higher education and chose the prestigious Waseda University. However, at that time, the country adopted a rather strange law prohibiting simultaneously receiving higher education and professionally engaging in any sport. Victor, after thinking a little, decided that higher education was still a priority for him, and therefore was ready to give up baseball. But in 1934, disaster struck - the head of the Starukhin family was arrested on charges of murder.

Nowadays, many historians and biographers are inclined to believe that the case against Konstantin Starukhin was fabricated. But then, according to one version, the woman he killed was allegedly a Soviet spy, disguised as a Russian emigrant. The man faced a long prison sentence, and his family faced deportation. It is not known for certain whether the man actually killed anyone, and if so, whether this person was a spy. But the family found itself in dire straits, and at that moment help, as they say, came from unexpected places.

Help or blackmail?

Suddenly, the influential Japanese media tycoon Matsutaro Shoriki became interested in the fate of the Starukhins. He contacted Victor and made him an offer that he could not refuse. The businessman offered the guy to solve all the problems that had befallen his family, but in exchange, Victor had to give up studying at the university, return to big-time sports and play for the philanthropist’s team. Such conditions really resembled ordinary blackmail, but since the guy was in an almost hopeless situation, he accepted all the conditions.

As a result, Matsutaro, as promised, connected all his connections, and the baseball player’s father got off with minimal punishment. Already in the fall of the same year, 1934, Victor, as part of the Japanese national team, went to the United States, and created a real sensation there. The baseball player was offered to stay in America and was promised a great future there, however, for obvious reasons, the guy could not accept this offer. However, the refusal to the Americans only brought Victor additional popularity and respect in Japan.

The “blue-eyed Japanese,” 193 centimeters tall and weighing over one hundred kilograms, played as a pitcher and managed to become the best in this role. He got another nickname - “white giant”, which fully corresponded to him, because compared to other players in the national leagues, Victor looked like a real giant. During a distinguished career that spanned nearly two decades, he was named MVP twice and also became the first pitcher in Japanese baseball league history to reach three hundred wins. Some of the records he set remain unbroken to this day.

Victor Starukhin: personal life

In 1939, the athlete tied the knot with an emigrant from Russia named Elena. At first, their family life was happy and cloudless; in 1941, the couple had a common heir, their son George. However, with the outbreak of World War II, the level of intolerance towards representatives of other nationalities began to rapidly increase in the country. Despite the fact that Starukhin was a national hero, the inhabitants of the empire, as it turned out, did not forget his Russian origin. Gradually, popular love and adoration gave way to hatred and constant suspicion.

Foreigners at that time were prohibited from participating in sports competitions. Victor even changed his first and last name to Shido Hiroshi, after which he repeatedly made requests for Japanese citizenship, however, each time he was refused. And in 1944, the baseball player, along with his wife and child, ended up in a special internment camp.

After the end of the war, the Russian family was released, however, during his stay in the camp, Victor contracted pleurisy, which subsequently had a very negative impact on his health. Constant suspicions of espionage, a career decline and a broken family life led Starukhin to begin abusing strong alcoholic beverages. And the family’s extremely unstable financial situation was probably the last straw. In 1948, the baseball player’s wife filed for divorce, and then left for the United States with a new chosen one, a certain Alexander Bolovyov, leaving her seven-year-old son with her ex-wife.

The divorce was a huge shock for the athlete. He again tried to numb his mental pain with alcohol, however, he soon managed to pull himself together. In 1950, he married for the second time. His chosen one was a Japanese woman named Kunie, whom Victor met in Tokyo at the end of 1948. She actually replaced little George’s mother, and later their family had two daughters together: Natalya and Elizaveta. The eldest heiress of the baseball player received a medical education and now works in Japan as a nutritionist, and the youngest daughter emigrated to the United States; there is practically no information about her fate.

Viktor Starukhin: last years of life, tragic death

In the late 40s, the baseball player returned to the field and even managed to temporarily regain his star status, however, the man understood that his career was nearing its end. In addition, lung problems became more and more noticeable. In the later years of his career, Victor, who played until he was 38, no longer looked like his former self. At the same time, he was looking for work as a translator, because he was fluent in three languages: Japanese, Russian and English.

Having finally completed his sports career, Starukhin tried his hand at radio and television. But in 1957, at the age of forty, the legendary baseball player died tragically under very strange circumstances. His car was hit by a train at a railroad crossing. The circumstances of this incident remain unclear to this day. There were rumors that, due to prolonged depression, the former athlete decided to voluntarily die, but this version was refuted by his wife Kuniye, who remained a widow with three minor children in her arms.

There were also suggestions that Victor was drunk and lost control. And some are sure that this was a planned murder, disguised as an accident, which was set up by Soviet or Japanese intelligence services, although it is not entirely clear why this was done. His young widow, after the tragedy, was left without support and was forced to work several jobs to feed her family.

Victor Starukhin: memory, heritage

In Japan, they did not forget about the “blue-eyed giant”; his name was included in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame, where he became the first foreigner. In the city of Asahikawa, where Victor grew up, a stadium that seats 25 thousand people is named after him, and in front of its main entrance there is a large bronze monument to the Russian-Japanese baseball player. Books are written about Starukhin, comics are created and documentaries are made. Let us add that since 1991, baseball tournaments have been held in Russia in memory of the outstanding compatriot Viktor Starukhin.

In 2003, a Japanese film crew, creating a documentary about the legendary baseball player, flew to Nizhny Tagil in search of the place where the athlete was born. However, neither the house nor even the street where the Starukhins once lived have survived. However, the filmmakers managed to discover Victor’s living direct heir – the great-grandson of his own aunt. It is noteworthy that the man did not even realize that he had a star relative and his incredible achievements.

It is quite unfair that Starukhin, who is still revered and respected in the Land of the Rising Sun, and throughout the world, remains practically unknown in his homeland, even in his own hometown. However, in the last century, the history of relations between Japan and Russia was too complex, confusing and unpleasant, and baseball to this day has not gained popularity in Russia and is perceived as an exotic curiosity.

The upper eyelashes need to be painted, but you should not focus on the eyelashes - this will visually enlarge the eyes, and we want to achieve the opposite effect. There is no need to dye your lower eyelashes.

Before we begin to analyze the appearance of a Chinese woman and a Japanese woman, a comparison must be made between the racial features of appearance. Representatives of the Mongoloid race differ from others in the following characteristics:

• Hair. Rigid, straight, black. The growth of mustache, beard and body hair is weak.
• Eyes. Like the hair, the eyes of representatives of the Mongoloid race are black. Although Mongoloids are called narrow-eyed in society, their eyeballs are actually larger than those of Caucasians. This opinion arose due to the highly developed upper eyelid and narrow eye shape.
• Leather. A yellowish tint to the skin is another sign of the Mongoloid race. Depending on the habitat, the shade can vary from light to darkish.
