How to tie a herringbone rig?

You will need:

swivel,
clasp,
thin line for leashes,
single hooks,
small twisters,
end weight or large bait.

The process is as follows:

We take a piece of fishing line, 1-1.3 m long. We tie a swivel to one of the ends.
Now, 10 centimeters from the swivel, tie a small loop with a figure eight knot. Then, at a distance of approximately 20 cm from each other, we knit several more such loops.
Attach a small clasp to the end of the cord. That’s it, the base of the “Christmas tree” is ready.
Now, all we have to do is tie the hooks with baits on short leashes to the loops tied on the cord. The optimal length of leashes is 5-7 cm. Small twisters or vibrotails can be used as bait. Or you can simply tie primitive tassel flies on hooks.

In July and August, during intense morning or evening feeding, perch will rush at them no less greedily than at silicone decoys.

You can attach a regular end sinker to the fastener, or you can attach some kind of spinner, wobbler, or large vibrating tail. The second option, by the way, is more preferable, because a large bait will create an imitation of a competitor chasing prey. This will become an additional irritant for the predator.

The “herringbone” is wound on a piece of foam rubber and placed in a fishing box. If you spot a pot, quickly unwind the rig, attach it to the leader, and start retrieving - there will be a fish on every hook!

Choosing a spinning rod

A spinning rod is selected depending on the following types of fishing (the type of fishing is influenced by the type of bait, fishing conditions, and wiring technique):

Jig tackle - involves fishing with weighted soft baits using stepped retrieval and tapping the bottom. The characteristics of a spinning rod depend on the choice of bait weight.

Catch: pike perch, perch, pike, catfish and other predators at the bottom.

Ultralight is a kind of opposite of jig, although it does not exclude microjig baits. Fishing with this method is carried out with very light baits - from fractions of a gram to 7-8 g in weight. The nature of the bait can be very different: from light spinners to barely weighted silicone jig baits.

Twitching tackle is a special category of rods that is designed for jerking wobblers.

Effective fishing methods

In order for a predator to become interested in the bait, it must be guided correctly in the water column. It is her movements that make her attractive, not herself. Fishermen use several types of fishing, in which predatory fish react to the bait. Let's look at the main ones.

Uniform wiring is the most popular. To perform it, you just need to rotate the reel handle at the same speed, without acceleration or pause. The depth at which the wobbler or spinner will go depends on the speed of rotation. By the way, only uniform wiring is suitable for a rotating spoon; any deviations will lead to a malfunction in its play. This method is usually used to fish in bodies of water with shallow depths: small rivers, river backwaters, lakes, stakes.

Stepped wiring involves scrolling the coil with pauses. Its essence is to force the bait to move along a certain trajectory, namely up and down. During a pause, the bait will sink to the bottom surface or approach it, and when reeling in, it will fly up again. This is how they are caught on large rivers and reservoirs. Those who can thoroughly master this technique are guaranteed good catches.

Jigging requires the use of a rigid spinning rod equipped with a high-quality reel and braided cord. This is quite an active technique. First you cast, after which you need to wait until the bait sinks to the bottom. This is followed by alternating several quick turns of the coil with 5-second pauses. Stopping is necessary for the bait to fall to the bottom. According to the observations of spinners who practice jig fishing, it is during pauses that the predator most often bites.

The right spinning reel

There are two types of spinning reels:

Inertia-free (popularly called meat grinders) are universal reels that can show good results in almost any spinning fishing method. Recommended for beginners.
Inertial, among which the popular type is multiplier reels, all other modifications are outdated. Thanks to the multiplier, you can increase your casting distance and feel the wiring more clearly. We do not recommend it for beginners in spinning fishing; there are many nuances in both selection and operation.

Spinning line

Braided fishing line is more popular among spinners than monofilament. Its advantage is that it does not stretch when tensioned and this allows you to get very clear and timely bites

Spinners use both monofilament and fluorocarbon fishing line as a leader line The second is practically invisible in water, but has both advantages and disadvantages, one of them: a rather high price.

The material from which the rings are made plays an important role. The rings are of poor quality; from constant friction of the fishing line or cord against the ring, grooves form on the rings. Rings with such grooves literally wear out the fishing line in just a few casts and rewinds, which breaks during the next cast and the bait is shot. Bypass rings with defects cannot properly perform their intended functions and must be replaced.
