Mebaru, Aji, Egi, Seabass - these are the names that are already familiar to many Russian fishermen, but also, there are many types of fishing that are not very clear to most of us. The CRK-862MW belongs to this type of fishing. The letter W in the model index stands for WIND. On the form there is the inscription Wind Custom, as well as an image of a bait, somewhat reminiscent of a slug mounted on a jig head, only the jig head is of an unusual shape and the hooks are located at the bottom. After digging a little on the Internet, I could not find an exact description of these baits, as well as the type of fishing itself. Well, in general, that’s not the point. After all, we successfully catch pike with bass rods and jig with various spinning rods from the rock fish series, so this series should catch on with us, because the type of spinning rods is quite common and the characteristics on the form are clear.

Let's move on directly to the spinning rod itself.

The heaviest “Cheburashka” that I threw was 18g, plus the bait, so it comes up to 20-22g in total. It felt like it was no longer worth loading the fishing rod on such powerful casts. For wobblers and iron, everything is about the same. I power casted a cicada from Damiki weighing 21g, there were no problems. The lower test actually pleased me. I threw such small baits from Lucky Craft as NW Pencil 52 and Spinboard 35, whose weight was around 4g. Despite the fact that the weight of the lures is less than the stated lower test, they loaded the blank without any problems and the casting was very good in range, even with such cords as PE#0.8 and 1. And the wiring of these lures was quite comfortable. Castmasters 7 and 10gr flew just great. But really a catapult, this fishing rod becomes a 12-15g asp bullet. I was especially impressed by the casting range with the 12 gram Iron Minnow bullet from Renegade. As for the “feeling” on the jig. 8-10g at the tip in any conditions, in good and ideal conditions a tactile “feel” appears, from 12g the tactile sensitivity is excellent. And all this while fishing at a long distance.

Gunfish 75 6.5gr - excellent casting.

When “stressed,” the fishing rod is fast and instantly returns to its original position. Under load, the upper third and middle are easily activated. There is a reserve in the butt. In general, from the type of fishing rod you can immediately see that everything, both the action and the long handle, is aimed at sending the bait as far as possible with a power cast. I used a stick paired with a Daiwa 13 Certate 2508PE reel. To achieve maximum casting distance, I used relatively thin eight-core cords, Sunline Deep One 8HG #1 and Sunline Super PE 8 Braid #0.8. I also used a Sunline Siglon FC 0.265mm fluorocarbon leader. I made the leash 2-3m long and tied it to the braided line with an FG knot. Why do I use such a long leash? First, as a shock leader. The cords are not the thickest, and the casts are not the weakest, so the presence of a shock leader gave me the opportunity, without shooting, to send bait over decent distances. Second, as protection for the working section of the cord. Everyone knows that eight-strand lines are famous for their softness, smoothness and slipperiness, this helps us achieve some increase in casting distance. But there is a downside to all this. Eight-strands are very sensitive to abrasives. Some hold abrasives better, some worse, but they are far from the abrasion resistance of four-core cords. This is where a long flurika leash saves us. Initially, I took this spinning rod for shore jigging at long and medium distances. After my first trip to the river, I simply fell in love with this stick. The casting range is simply amazing, the feel is excellent, and it hooks fish wonderfully.

Perch from a distance of 60-70m.

I mainly jigted with 12-18g Cheburashkas, plus compact running baits like Keitech Swing Impact 3” and Action Plastics 3FG and 5FG.

I also had a chance to fish with this rod using a drop shot. The spinning rod also coped with this task without any problems. The butt and middle part allow jerking, and the informative tip allows you to track all the nuances of the wiring.

And again Keitech Swing Impact 3″, only this time on a drop shot, mounted on a Decoy HD Hook offset Worm 117 offset.

Soon, this Crostage showed itself in a different direction of fishing. This is asp fishing. In this fishing, range is one of the most important factors. I’m not interested in catching asps with bombards and sbirulino. I am more interested in catching asp using various wobblers and pieces of iron. Here the fishing rod also showed itself in all its glory. This is just the element of this spinning rod. The range is excellent, the tracking of top waters is ideal, it hooks strong and fast fish and holds them perfectly. Let's return to the spinning test again. Lucky Craft Gunfish 75, an interesting top-water that has shown itself well in asp fishing. Its weight is indicated as 6.5g, which is half a gram less than the indicated lower test, but despite this, the wobbler was able to be cast at a very decent distance, which made it possible to catch cautious fish.

The sticks also fly great from this “stick”.

Also, the rod has proven itself when fishing with various vibes, tie-spinners and cicadas, both during coastal and boat fishing, allowing you to serve these baits over a long distance.

The classic vibe, Marvie 70 from Ever Green, a bait with good flight characteristics and a long-range spinning rod, made it possible to fish large areas in search of asp showing little activity on the surface.

The chub, from the release, attacked the tail-spinner Waterland Spin Sonic 14g during a pause, while fishing an interesting terrain on the Volga riverbed.

To summarize this “stick”. I began to associate Crostage CRK-862MW with the word “FAR”. If you are interested in long-range coastal jigs, asp fishing, power casts, thin lines, shock leaders and lures designed to fly as far as possible, then this fishing rod is an ideal option for such conditions.
