Jackall Magallon – family of pike mowers

Wobbler Jackall Tiny Magallon

— suspender, has a very stable game even with slow, even wiring. Suitable for both classic fishing and twitching. It has proven itself to be excellent when fishing for pike in various conditions.

The Jackall Tiny Magallon wobbler has a two-part body, its length is 8.8 centimeters. This wobbler is suitable for both slow retrieving and active twitching. Very good for catching pike in spring. Equipped, like most wobblers of this class, with Owner hooks. The only thing, according to reviews from many anglers, is that it is advisable to replace them with a larger size.

It is advisable to remove the winding ring on the wobbler in order to avoid overlaps, and an additional element never adds to the reliability of the tackle.

Wobbler Jackall Tiny Magallon: application features

It is difficult to write something new about a wobbler about which so much has already been said. The Jackall Tiny Magallon has been one of the most popular lures for many years, with many anglers having it in their arsenal. In this review, I want to focus not on the history of origin or technical characteristics of the “tinik”, but on its application, share my experience and tell you in which situations it is worth using this bait, and in which it is better to put it aside. But first things first.

I’ll start with a description, in case someone doesn’t understand what kind of bait we’re talking about. Jackall Tiny Magallon is a compound wobbler with neutral buoyancy. Its length is 88 millimeters and its weight is 7.2 grams. In shape it is a typical “minoshka”, and it is buried down to 0.5–0.8 meters. The bait is equipped with two tees Owner No. 10 series ST36BC . At the back, the wobbler ends with a silicone tail. This element is more decorative than functional. Over the years of the bait's existence, the color scheme has partially changed; There are currently 20 colors available in the Jackall catalog.

Let's move on to practice. Which rod should I choose for fishing with this little guy? Despite the fact that Tiny Magallon weighs a little more than seven grams, it has good flight qualities, and it is quite possible to throw this bait 25–30 meters with a standard twitching spinning rod. The second determining point is the fishing conditions. Thanks to its shape, the “tinik” can be made to play almost on the spot, which, along with the shallow depth, allows this bait to be used in gaps among aquatic vegetation, where a special casting distance is not required, but a decent margin of safety and a high holding resource of the gear can be very useful, Moreover, despite its small size, Tiny Magallon regularly catches large pike. Over the years of using Magallon, I came to the following gear: a rod 2–2.2 meters long, designed for baits up to 18–21 g; 2500 size reel; cord No. 1.2–1.5. In the 2021 season, for example, I used a Norstream Rebel RBS-732M with a Daiwa Ninja 2500A .

I will dwell on the issue of choosing a leash. Since the Tiny Magallon is a suspender with its small mass, a larger mass of the leader will change its type of buoyancy. A string with a diameter of 0.25–0.28 mm and a length of 20 cm is best suited. Thin titanium leaders of the same length also performed well. I don't use soft leashes.

Let's move on to fishing conditions. As I said, the main place where Magallon is used is openings among aquatic vegetation, the so-called windows. I especially highlight them for the reason that fishing there with the Magallon is most advisable. However, we should not forget about standard places: reed walls, shallow waters, dead-end backwaters, coastal shallows. It is important to take advantage of the main advantages of the Tiny Magallona - its small depth and the ability to play on the spot; they will best tell you where and how to use it.

The next important point is wiring. At first glance, everything here is simple and even primitive: “uniform” and standard twitching consistently bring bites from active fish. This knowledge is enough to use the Tiny Magallon wobbler under normal conditions. If the pike is passive and does not respond to standard wiring, then most often the decision is made to change the wobbler or even the location. But don't rush!

Over the years of using the Tinik, I was able to select wiring that works on the most capricious pike. The first thing you need to do to understand this bait is to learn how to twitch with a loose line. With such a register, at the slightest movement of the rod, the wobbler begins to move, provoking the capricious pike in the windows to bite.

The second thing is a pause. There have been fishing trips when the pike attacked the bait at the eighth to tenth second. Yes, it takes patience, but it's worth it. Thanks to the pause, it was possible to catch 15–20 pikes per fishing trip, while standard trips brought one or two fish. This remark is true for any wobblers of neutral buoyancy.

And the last thing is fishing in water lilies. Due to the fact that the Tiny Magallon has small tees and the gear used is quite strong, you can fish with a “tiny” in the thickets of water lilies. No, I was not mistaken: not in the windows, but in the thickets! This method is very effective during the day, when the pike hides from direct sunlight in the shade.

The choice of color is an individual matter, but I adhere to the rule that there should be at least two baits in the box - light and dark. And what colors they will have is up to you to decide. As you can see from the photos, my favorite is Fire Tiger .

In conclusion, a few words about the silicone tail. There has been a lot of controversy about the effect of this element on the bite. I can say with confidence that the tail does not affect the bite. After its loss, the fish’s reaction to the bait did not change.

I recommend that all wobbler lovers have Jackall Tiny Magallon in their collection.
