Story
The impetus for the development of a system of multimedia historical parks was given by an exhibition held in 2013 in Moscow. Then other projects were presented and, finally, several similar museums opened throughout the country. St. Petersburg became available to the public in December 2021. A separate building was erected for it.
Interactive adventure “Rook”
The interactive adventure “The Boat” tells the story of the ancient trade route “from the Varangians to the Greeks.” It ran mainly along rivers from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea, to Byzantium and for several centuries was the main trade artery of Europe. Along the way, iron, weapons, and walrus ivory were transported from the Scandinavian Peninsula. Rus' supplied the European market with timber, honey, wax and, of course, fur in abundance. And Byzantium was famous for its exquisite jewelry, wine and oriental fabrics.
Most often, ancient Russian merchants traveled the route “from the Varangians to the Greeks” on a boat with a wide sail, several pairs of oars, shields on the sides that protected the oarsmen, and a carved wooden head in the shape of a dragon. It was this eight-meter vessel that park experts recreated, based on chronicles, archaeological finds and travel records of merchants from different countries.
Guests of the exhibition will have to load goods onto the boat and travel the trade route of ancient Russian merchants on it. The players’ path will run both by land and by water, so the “merchants” will have to drag the boat, row with all their might, and even fight the storm. The interactive is equipped with dozens of weight, volume and motion sensors and photocells that will allow participants to experience the heaviness of the vessel and the resistance of the water, the spray of salty waves and the terrifying gusts of storm wind. Not all such battles with the elements ended in favor of the ancient Russian travelers. The famous Afanasy Nikitin recalled how near Derbent “a storm arose at sea, and a smaller ship crashed on the shore.”

Game room "Boyars and Peasants"
The gaming hall takes visitors to real boyar chambers and a peasant hut of the 17th century. Here, almost every household item has its own “voice”, action and task - from an ordinary spoon to a Russian stove.
One of the most interesting tasks will be to feed two families - a boyar and a peasant. Guests will quickly understand that the boyar will be angry if he is served steamed turnips or simple cabbage soup, and the peasant will not be able to afford fried quail and other delicious dishes. And in the hall you can find out other interesting details about the life and everyday life of the boyars and peasants, warm up on the stove and compare how you slept on a soft bed in the wards and on a wall bench in the hut.
Reviews
According to visitor reviews, the historical park “Russia - My History” is unusual, bright, and fascinating. Knowledge is given in general , so a visit is suitable for both schoolchildren and people who do not have deep knowledge of science. However, the amount of information and the size of the exhibitions are significant and small children may get tired , which is worth taking into account.
Visitors noted the convenient way of presenting information, the abundance of household details characteristic of a particular time
The main disadvantage is the large number of visitors , especially on weekends, which makes access to the interactive counters difficult.
