Toponymy

  • Other names: Karaidel, Ufimka.
  • Origin of the name: there is a version that the hydronym “Ufa” has very ancient roots. This name is probably derived from “ap” (“water”) and was given to the river by the steppe tribes of Iranian-speaking Aryans who lived in the Southern Urals in the distant past - from the Early Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. Another, Bashkir name “Karaidel” translated into Russian means “black river” and is most likely due to the fact that at the confluence of the Ufa and the Belaya, the difference in the color of both streams is clearly visible - the Ufa has darker water. According to another version, this version of the name is associated with the color orientation of the cardinal directions: at the confluence of Ufa and Belaya, the first flows from the north, the second from the south.

More than 600 large and small rivers flow in Bashkiria, many of which are very popular among fishing enthusiasts.

Most of the rivers of Bashkiria belong to the Volga and Ural river basins. And only a few small rivers in the northeastern part of the republic, primarily the Uy River and its tributaries, as well as the Miass, are included in the Ob basin. Most of the sources of rivers in Bashkiria, as a rule, are located in the mountains among stone placers and rock formations in lakes and swamps. The mountainous part of the republic forms an extensive network of various watercourses, quite typical for mountainous areas.

The main waterway and the most popular fishing spot in Bashkiria

is the Belaya River, or as the indigenous inhabitants of the Ak-Idel Republic call it. The river's sources begin in the western spurs of the Ural Mountains. First, the river flows in a southwestern direction, and then turns sharply in a northern direction and then flows into the Kama. The Belaya River is 1,475 km long and its basin has an area of 142.8 square meters. km. The largest tributary of the Belaya River is the Ufa River, which in turn has quite large tributaries. The sources of Ufa are located in Lake Ufimskoye.

But Bashkiria is not only rich in rivers; the republic has a large number of artificial lakes and swamps. Most of the lakes are located in the trans-Ural part of Bashkiria - these are Ala-kul, Kurman-kul, Beloe, Ulandy, Bannoe, Sherambay, Kush-kul and many others. Like the rivers of the republic, the lakes abound in fish wealth; they are home to more than 40 species of different fish.

In the west of Bashkiria, the largest lake is Asly - a kul with an area of more than 18 square meters. km.

The most common types of fish for fishing in
Bashkiria
are bream, carp, tench, rudd, catfish, asp, pike, sabrefish, pike perch, perch, grass carp, etc.

Fishing on the Belaya River

Most Bashkir fishermen, when asked where the best fishing is in Bashkiria,

without hesitation, they will answer - on the Belaya River and its tributaries. Here you can find a wide variety of fish, for every taste and for any tackle. The waters of Belaya are inhabited by carp, pike perch, bream, ide, burbot, rudd, chub, asp, pike, roach, catfish, grayling and even royal sturgeon. Of course, this is not a complete list of the fish that live there, of which there are as many as 47 species.

Of course, species diversity largely depends on the reservoir and the living conditions in it, especially on the food supply and oxygen saturation of the reservoir.

The Belaya River in Bashkiria is a real paradise for fishing lovers. And you can fish there not only in the river itself, but also in its numerous floodplain lakes and, especially at the confluence with tributaries. Fishermen like these places the most, and the richest catches happen in such places.

Bream and carp on the Belaya River are mainly caught with a donkey or a feeder. Places are pre-fed well, and various plant baits or dung worms are used as bait. Chopped worms or maggots are also added to the bait. The largest bream are caught in pits whose depth reaches 12-14 meters.

The most successful fishing for chub and ide occurs during the season of mass emergence of the cockchafer. If you find a good spot and are careful you can catch some large chub. Shaded places should be chosen, preferably next to coastal bushes or trees with branches hanging over the water.

Fishing in Bashkiria in the Belaya River

for pike it is very effective for mugs. They are placed from a boat in places where there is snags or grassy thickets, as well as not far from the reeds, where the toothy predator likes to hide. Small roach, crucian carp or bleak are used as live bait.

The Belaya River is especially loved by spinning anglers; large pike perch, asp, pike and perch are caught here. Different baits are used for catching predatory fish, but particular preference is given to a variety of wobblers and vibrotails. The color and size of such baits are selected individually, but, as a last resort, you can always take a closer look at what your luckier neighbor is fishing for and what equipment he is using.

Fishing on the Belaya River in Bashkiria

– this is a great vacation for a fisherman who wants to experience real excitement and get a great catch.

Fishing in Ufa

Ufa is the largest tributary of the Belaya River. Local residents call Ufa Karaidel, which means Black River. At the confluence of the Belaya and Ufa rivers, the border between the dark and light streams is clearly visible. Also within the republic this river is called the Ufimka, and in the neighboring regions of Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk it is called Ufa.

Fishing in Bashkiria on the Ufa River

very popular among spinners. Chub, asp and ide are especially well caught in Ufa. In its upper reaches it is predominantly a mountain and semi-mountain river. At first, the Ufa flows through low mountains, and below the village of Krasnoufimsk, where the Ai River flows into it, the Ufa acquires a semi-mountainous character.

A little below the village of Karaidel, the Pavlovsk reservoir begins, the length of which is about 100 km. Behind the dam of the Pavlovsk hydroelectric power station, Ufa becomes a full-flowing and deep river with a fast and strong current.

Ufa is one of the richest rivers in the Southern Urals with fish resources. Its waters are home to almost all species of fish living in the reservoirs of the Southern Urals. There are a lot of grayling in the river, which can be found right up to the river mouth. The Pavlovsk Reservoir is famous for its abundance of fish; in particular, there is a lot of large bream and other white fish.

Fishing in Lake Akkul

Akkul - White Lake translated from the Bashkir language. The lake is located on the left bank of the Belaya River in the western part of the Gafuriy district. The length of the lake is 5 km, and its greatest width is 2 km. The average depth of the lake is about 4 meters. At a time when Lake Akkul was not connected to the Belaya River, its depth reached 10 meters. When the isthmus separating the lake and the Belaya River was broken, part of the water went into the river and its area was reduced by almost 2 times. After this, the lake was dammed and its level stabilized slightly.

Lake Akkul receives its nutrition from springs, the underflow of the Belaya River, atmospheric precipitation and the Karmalka River flowing into it. Today this picturesque lake is a state reserve with an area of 120 square meters. km. Several species of waterfowl nest on the lake, and the forests along its coast are home to moose, hares, foxes, martens, stoats, and minks.

Fishing in Bashkiria on Lake Akkul

According to local fishermen, it is wonderful. Here you can catch carp, bream, crucian carp and even catfish. The concentration of fish in the lake is large and the catches are excellent. But for good fishing in Lake Akkul you need a boat. With a boat, finding a good fishing spot is much faster and more reliable. To ensure a successful fishing spot for carp, bream or crucian carp, it is better to feed them in advance. The best bait for catching this fish in Lake Akkul is considered to be a worm.

Unfortunately, spearfishing in the lake is not very promising. The depths of the lake are generally shallow, and the bottom is covered with a thick layer of silt. Visibility underwater is already not very good, and with slight excitement the visibility deteriorates even more. Mainly fishing on Lake Akkul

It is carried out using float rods, feeders and bottom tackle.

Paid fishing in Bashkiria

Paid fishing in Bashkiria

It has not been practiced for very long, but is already beginning to gain popularity. Although not all fishing lovers in the republic perceive it unambiguously. All paid reservoirs have their own owners who are interested in ensuring that their reservoir is popular and constantly visited by fishermen.

Of course, the big advantage of paid fishing is that the owners of various paid reservoirs are interested in improving fishing conditions, take care of stocking their ponds with fish, and monitor the safety of visitors and the cleanliness of the water in the reservoirs.

One of the most popular paid places in Ufa, the capital of Bashkiria, is Lake Linevoye. This lake is stocked with carp, grass carp and crucian carp. The “Carp Pond” is also very popular among the city’s fishermen; they catch carp and silver carp there. Grass carp and silver crucian carp. Many fishermen also visit the paid ponds “Kudermetyevsky” and “Korolevka” and, according to many amateurs, these ponds delight with their catches.

Of the free reservoirs located near Ufa, perhaps the most popular is Lake Olkhovoe. This beautiful lake with picturesque shores is primarily known for excellent fishing for bream, liya, roach and pike. In addition, anglers from Ufa love to fish near the village of Zinino on Lake Cherny. Archimandrite Lake is no less popular. For many fishing lovers in Bashkiria

The most favorite fishing places are the Pavlovskoye and Nugushkoye reservoirs.

Fishing on public reservoirs

Fishing on public reservoirs of Ufa and nearby environs is often no less effective than fishing on “pay zones”. The key to success is good knowledge of specific places and the presence of correctly assembled gear.

Black Lake

Lake Black is located near Ufa and is located between the settlements of Nagaevo and Zinino. The average depth of this reservoir is 2.5 m. The bottom is quite flat, but in some areas there are local depressions that are easy to find with an echo sounder. Its main inhabitants are:

  • pike;
  • perch;
  • carp.

On a note! Pike in Black grow to quite decent sizes. Here it is possible to catch predators weighing up to 10 kg, but the majority of the spinners’ catch is made up of specimens weighing 1–2 kg.

In summer, the lake becomes heavily overgrown, which requires the use of specific baits: light, oscillating, non-snappy spinners;

  • poppers;
  • walkers;
  • silicone frog imitations;
  • "Croatian egg";
  • unloaded vibrotails on an offset hook.

In October, when aquatic vegetation sinks to the bottom, classic “shakers” and “minnow” wobblers work well. In winter, local pike are completely indifferent to any artificial bait. Only a lively bait fish attached to the hook of a girder can provoke it to bite.

There are a lot of perch in Cherny, but they are not large in size. Fish weighing 50–100 g are caught on float rods in the coastal zone. The bait, as a rule, is a fry or a worm.

Black Lake pike responds well to classic models of poppers in natural colors.

Spinners armed with ultralight tackle can boast of catching predators weighing 200–300 g. Small rotating spoons and twisters on a light jig head are used as artificial baits. In winter, stripers can often be seduced with a jig with bloodworms or a small vertical spoon.

Catching carp in this reservoir is quite rare, but the impressive weight of individual individuals forces feeders to regularly visit Chernoye. The most catchable bait is considered to be small boilies with a diameter of 1 cm, which have a plum aroma.

Belaya River

The Belaya River is one of the favorite vacation spots of Ufa anglers. Good fishing spots are located outside the village of Bulgakovo and in Krasny Yar. Caught here:

  • bream;
  • roach;
  • perch;
  • asp;
  • pike;
  • chub;
  • dace;
  • burbot.

On a note! In the Belaya river pits you can catch small catfish weighing up to 20 kg. The mustachioed predator is caught both on a spinning rod equipped with a jig bait, and on a classic donk.

Representatives of the carp family consistently bite in this reservoir from May to October. They are caught here with float and feeder gear, using worms and maggots as bait. In winter, they move closer to the river bed, where they can be caught using jig tackle.

Perch is found in coastal pools and is consistently caught using small twisters and spinners No. 0–2. Its average weight is about 200 g. In winter, it does not leave its usual habitats and continues to be caught using vertical spoons and balancers.

A medium-sized spinner with a rounded petal is excellent for catching perch on the Belaya River.

Asp shows increased activity at the end of summer. He prefers to hunt in areas below rifts and is caught using the following baits:

  • "turntables";
  • jigs;
  • loaded streamers;
  • walkers.

Large predators are very careful and it can be difficult to catch them, but small representatives of this species often peck at the very feet of the spinning rod.

It is extremely rare to find pike in Belaya on the main stream. The toothy predator sticks to areas with depths of 2–3 m and a complete absence of current. In open water, it greedily attacks wobblers and small vibrating tails. In winter it is caught on ratlins and girder tackle.

On a note! With the arrival of October, burbot becomes active in the river. In the fall, it can be caught quite well using bottom tackle, the hook of which is baited with a bunch of worms or fish slices. In winter, he pecks at baitfish. The nozzle is a live or crushed brush. There is a lot of this predator in the Deme River, which is the left tributary of the Belaya.

    Fishing on "paysites"

    In Ufa and its surroundings there are several commercial reservoirs that are especially popular with local anglers. On paid ponds you can not only have good fishing, but also relax comfortably with friends or family.

    "Cool place"

    On the territory of the recreation center “Cool Place”, located near the village of Shmitdovo, there are several paid ponds that are inhabited by:

    • carp;
    • silver carp;
    • bream;
    • grass carp;
    • we shed;
    • crucian carp;
    • pike;
    • perch.

    The base provides rental of gear and related equipment. Here you can always buy fresh bait and groundbait.

    On the “pay zones” of the “Cool Place” base you can often catch trophy crucian carp.

    If you come here for a few days, you can rent a cozy house. The cost of the tour is 400 rubles, and each kilogram of fish is paid separately.

    Zhukovo

    Lake Zhukovo is located near the village of the same name, 30 km from Ufa. The maximum depth of the reservoir does not exceed 3 m. The bottom is flat and covered with a thick layer of silt. Live here:

    • crucian carp;
    • roach;
    • carp;
    • pike;
    • perch.

    On a note! In the summer, there are too many vacationers on Lake Zhukovo, so you can only fish quietly in the early morning hours.

    The daily fishing fee is 250 rubles. Such a low price is due to the small concentration of fish in the reservoir and its modest size.

    Karatyak

    The paid reservoir near the village of Karatyaki is constantly visited by Ufa fishermen. Its popularity is explained by reasonable prices and a fairly stable bite. You can catch it here:

    • crucian carp;
    • perch;
    • tench;
    • carp;
    • pike.

    The price for a ticket is only 300 rubles per day, and the catch rate is unlimited. Most fishermen who come here fish with a feeder and a float rod. In spring, local representatives of the carp family prefer to peck at the worm. Starting from June, plant baits work better.

    Spinning fish are more likely to catch fish on this pond in the fall. From September to November, medium-sized pike and perch weighing 200–400 g bite well here. The most catchy baits are jig baits made from “edible rubber.”

    “Platnik” in Ilmurzino also deserves the attention of anglers. It is unlikely that you will be able to catch a large trophy here, but you can always count on a stable bite of small fish. Fishing on this reservoir is carried out all year round. The price of the tour is 300 rubles.

    ***

    Knowing the most fishy reservoirs and being able to select the necessary gear, an angler can always count on exciting fishing in Ufa and its environs.

    Fishing in Bashkiria on open water

    Fishing in Bashkiria in open water prefers to use bottom gear or ordinary float rods. For bait they will use:

    • Worms.
    • Bloodworm.
    • Bark beetle larvae.
    • Various beetles.
    • Insect larvae.

    The most catchy places will be those located in close proximity to pits or next to reed thickets. If you feed the fish, you can count on a serious catch. In other words, fishing in Bashkiria is all about experiments.

    Peculiarities

    You can fish in Ufa all year round. The main thing is to know the peculiarities of fishing in any season.

    From mid-autumn, when fish begin to move to the places where they spend the winter, it is best to catch them at depth, closer to the pits. At this time, you can use any bait. Fish preparing for winter are not picky and bite well on both plant bait and worms or fry.

    Winters in Ufa are cold. During this period, reservoirs begin to be covered with a layer of ice up to 20 cm thick. At this time, catfish, crucian carp, pike, roach and perch are the best to bite in local rivers. Predatory fish can be easily caught with a worm, while peaceful fish can be caught with dough.

    In spring and summer, locals prefer to fish on the Belaya River. There is a huge amount of fish there. You can use worms, beetle larvae and plant bait as bait.

    The best time to fish in summer is either late evening or early morning.

    Fishing in Bashkiria by season

    Fishing in Bashkiria is designed for any time of the year, although each season has its own characteristics. Therefore, when going fishing, you need to know for sure that during this period the fish are biting and there is every opportunity to catch fish.

    Fishing in Bashkiria in autumn by month

    With the arrival of autumn comes cold weather, as daylight hours decrease. The weather in autumn in Bashkiria is characterized by its variability. The sun may be shining, but after a while the sky becomes cloudy and a cold, annoying rain begins to fall.

    Fishing in September

    When the weather in September is warm and sunny, it is better to look for fish in shallow water, where they prefer to bask in the sun’s rays. When it's cold outside and the water temperature drops, most fish move to deeper water. This applies to pike, catfish, roach, asp, ide, etc. During this period, it is better to catch them from the depths. Autumn fishing is characterized by the fact that the fish begin to have an autumn appetite, and they bite at everything that is offered to them.

    In September, most fishermen prefer to fish from a boat. Pike can be caught using artificial bait, but asp will be better off taking live bait. Perch can be caught using both artificial baits and worms. In September, it is better not to count on catching catfish or bream. But burbot is particularly active, since it prefers colder periods.

    Fishing in October

    In October, when the temperature inexorably drops, the bulk of the fish prefer to move closer to their traditional wintering grounds. Towards evening, when the upper layers of the water have warmed up, albeit slightly, you can see fish walking around. Predators continue to hunt, stocking up on nutrients for the winter. Pike continues to attack artificial baits as actively as in September. At this time, burbot and catfish bite on live bait. For burbot, such weather has a positive effect, since it cannot stand heat, much less heat.

    The month of October offers favorable conditions for catching predatory fish. Fishermen use various gear for this, such as spinning rods, girders or bottom fishing rods. Some anglers use regular float rods and are satisfied with the results of their fishing.

    Fishing in November

    In November, Bashkiria begins to be covered with snow, and the temperature outside sets below freezing, which leads to the appearance of ice on reservoirs. Moreover, ice appears, so far, only in shallow areas, and where the depth is significant, you can still fish there with the same gear. At this time, dace, roach, perch and pike are caught. Peaceful fish are mainly caught with a worm or bloodworm. During this period, it is possible to catch sabrefish, as well as other types of fish. In November you can also catch:

    Basically, in the month of November, most fishermen go for burbot, since it feels very good in cold water. The most promising places during this period will be river mouths.

    Fish can be caught both from land and from water, from the village of Karagaikul - only from a boat, since all the banks are covered with reeds. If during summer fishing you want to hunt for pike, use a spinning rod at the water's edge, among the reeds. The average weight of the fish is 2–3 kilograms, but sometimes individuals weighing 5 kilograms are found. Very rarely, but large trophies of pike weighing 10 kilograms or more are still caught here.

    Winter fishing is no less popular on the lake. The best time for it is the end of February - beginning of March. During this period, Karagaikul is rich in perch and crucian carp.

    Fishing on Karagaikul is free, but it is necessary to comply with the legal norms for fishing and fishing rules. In case of violation of the law, administrative punishment is provided in the form of a fine in the amount of 500 to 300,000 rubles, depending on the seriousness of the crime.
