Where is pike caught in the Belgorod region?

Where to fish within the city

Excellent fishing in Belgorod is possible on the Seversky Donets River, which flows within the city’s borders. This is where the largest number of local anglers gather. This water artery is distinguished by its impressive size and calm flow.

Despite the fact that on the banks of the Seversky Donets there are numerous industrial enterprises that from time to time dump various sewage into the river, you can still count on a stable bite here:

This reservoir is famous for catching large catfish, whose weight can exceed 70 kg. Trophy pike perch also often end up on the hooks of experienced spinning fishermen. Certain sections of the river are heavily snagged, so it would be better to use silicone baits equipped with offset hooks.

Starting from the first half of May, roaches and silver bream bite well on float rods. If in the spring they prefer animal baits, then closer to mid-summer they begin to respond better to boiled pearl barley. Both fly rods and Bolognese rods are used to fish them.

Bream and crucian carp are usually the trophies of beavers and feeders. These species live in areas with hard ground and fairly strong currents. The most universal bait for catching them is considered to be a dung worm. The feeder should be filled with an odorous bait mixture based on ground sunflower cake. Small crucian carp weighing up to 150 g can always be caught with a float rod in the creeks.

The bulk of the predator lives in shallow bays and moves to deep places only with the onset of frost. Throughout the summer, it can be caught well using the following types of spinning baits:

  • “minnow” wobblers with a length of 10–13 cm and a depth of up to 1.5 m;
  • poppers;
  • unloaded vibrotails;
  • silicone imitation frog.

In mid-October, the pike moves closer to the river bed and begins to respond to classic jig baits. After the ice is established, it again comes to the bays and is caught by the jigging gear.

Fishing in the area

Fishing in the Belgorod region is more interesting and varied than within the city, which is due to the wide selection of diverse reservoirs. Fishing can be carried out both on a free and commercial basis.

Belgorod Reservoir

The Belgorod reservoir is located very close to the administrative center and is a favorite vacation spot for local fishermen. It was created in 1895 on the Seversky Donets River. Its average depth is about 3 m. In the area of the dam you can find areas with holes up to 15 m. The reservoir is inhabited by the following representatives of ichthyofauna:

Active fishing in open water begins in the second half of April. The first to be hooked are roach and silver bream. The baits are:

Peak fishing for bream and carp occurs in the first half of summer. Feeder gear is used to fish for these species of underwater inhabitants.

The most catchy bait is considered to be a dung worm. If the water temperature has risen above 23 degrees, it makes sense to experiment with vegetable baits.

The main trophies of spinning anglers are pike and perch. Pike perch and catfish are much less common. All predators of the Belgorod Reservoir have a special passion for silicone baits. The best time to catch them is August–October.

In winter, most fishermen come to this reservoir to catch large bream. The most promising points for catching it are in the immediate vicinity of the dam. Fishing, as a rule, is carried out using float gear. The hooks are baited with several bloodworms or a worm. It is very important that the bait mixture includes not only plant, but also animal components. The largest individuals are caught in the dark. The latest news about the bite at the reservoir can always be found on the community website “Fishka Club about Fishing in Belgorod”.

"Znamenka"

Near the village of Znamenka, Starooskolsky district, there is a paid pond, which is very popular among fishermen in the Belgorod region. You can easily get to the reservoir in any weather, since there is an asphalt road leading to it. Here are found:

The banks are equipped with wooden platforms, from which it is very convenient to fish. The price of a day pass is 350 rubles.

"Envy"

Near the village of Zavidovka there is a large commercial pond where you can have excellent fishing for very reasonable money. The main fish of the reservoir is carp. Fishing is carried out only during the daytime. The use of any watercraft is prohibited. The cost of a day pass is 500 rubles. The catch rate is unlimited.

"Shagarovka"

Prices at Shagarovsky Pond are quite affordable. A twelve-hour fishing permit costs 500 rubles. To be able to fish during the day you will have to pay 1 thousand rubles. The cost of an unlimited tour is 3 thousand rubles. Renting a gazebo will cost 300 rubles. You can rent a fishing rod for 150 rubles.

"Sayenki"

The commercial pond in the Sayenki farm is located in the Yakovlevsky district of the Belgorod region. Since 2009, the reservoir has been stocked annually with the following species:

In addition, a large number of crayfish are found here, which indicates a favorable environmental situation. The area around the pond is equipped with gazebos, smokehouses and barbecues. Sports carp fishing competitions are regularly held on the reservoir.

If a fish weighing less than 500 g or more than 5 kg is hooked, it must be immediately released back. One angler can use 5 tackles at the same time. The cost of a day pass is 400 rubles.

"Varvarovka"

The pond is located 30 km from Belgorod, near the village of Varvarovka, Alekseevsky district. The reservoir is inhabited by:

A day trip will cost a fisherman 300 rubles. The cost of a daily fishing permit will be 600 rubles. Fishing is carried out both in open water and from ice.

"Orlovka"

The paid pond near the village of Orlovka is located in the Belgorod region and attracts many fishing enthusiasts with an abundance of fish and low prices. The reservoir is inhabited by crucian carp and crucian carp, which bite consistently from May to October. To be able to fish in the dark you will have to pay 150 rubles. A day pass will cost twice as much.

Made in the Belgorod region. Fish from Yakovlev’s “Klyuchikov”

The head of Klyuchiki CJSC, Alexander Madygin, graduated from the Astrakhan Institute of Fishing Industry and Economy in 1982 and was assigned to the Belgorod region, where he became a professional fish farmer and headed the Klyuchiki fish farm. “Klyuchiki” itself has existed for 85 years. This is the first fishery opened in the Belgorod region.

New social advertising on the roads of the Belgorod region

To run his business, Alexander Madygin chose Rosselkhozbank as a financial partner. Ten years of cooperation turned out to be fruitful: the fish farm regularly turns to the bank for credit funds to purchase fish seeding material, equipment, feed, and fertilizers.

— We are always offered good conditions. If the bank has the opportunity to provide some kind of benefit, they always offer it to us.

The company is engaged in industrial trade of fish. “Klyuchiki” has 500 hectares of water where carp, grass carp and silver carp are raised. During fish catching, company employees sort out “trash fish”—crucian carp—from marketable products.

In the Belgorod region, locally produced fish is easy to find: almost all stores of the Farmer chain have Klyuchikov outlets, plus there are separate pavilions - for example, at a bus stop in the village of Severny or near the new building of the BelSU National Research University. Klyuchiki produces about 1 thousand tons of fish per year, which is sold in the Black Earth Region and delivered throughout Russia: from Rostov to St. Petersburg, from Smolensk to Lipetsk.

— The main implementation begins in the fall: we empty the ponds, transport the fish to cages, and until the beginning of summer we sell fish. Our cage capacity allows us to store all the fish and sell them regardless of the season,” noted Alexander Sergeevich.

This fish farm was the first in Russia to master summer fishing of ponds: in any heat, in Klyuchiki they can empty the pond and ship the required volume of fish to the buyer. All fish are washed with spring water and transported in it - the temperature of spring water is about 13 degrees, so the fish can easily withstand transportation.

"Klyuchiki" is a full-system enterprise. Here fish are grown from fry to marketable products. In addition, the fish farm produces its own feed: feed grain is grown on 250 hectares of land. Peas and grain are also added to the diet, so the fish here never go hungry and do not eat silt, due to which it can acquire an unpleasant odor. The average weight of carp sold exceeds two kilograms.

— Fish is the only product that reaches the buyer alive, unlike chicken or meat. The value of fish is not only in its biological properties (unsaturated fish oil), but also in the fact that it is not subject to freezing and thawing, and is not stored anywhere - it is a natural living product. And very useful,” noted the head of the farm.

In production, the quality of the feed is strictly monitored. If earlier the fish were given antibiotics for resistance, then for the last six years Klyuchiki has been using probiotics: live microorganisms are introduced into the feed, and the fish are “treated” without the use of drugs.

— There are no common diseases between fish and humans. For example, birds and humans share avian influenza, and cattle and pigs also share common illnesses with humans. And it’s impossible to get any kind of virus through fish, so you can eat it calmly,” said Alexander Sergeevich.

Ponds undergo veterinary inspection several times a year. In addition, each batch of fish is accompanied by permits.

Klyuchikov also has a four-hectare recreational pond in the village of Krivtsovo. There you can relax, catch fish and grill it.

But, despite all this, Alexander Sergeevich noticed that in recent years the demand for live fish has been falling.

— People are probably getting weaned from live products and prefer semi-finished or processed fish. I think that over time we will come to the point that we will also process fish and sell it in a chilled form, more accessible to the consumer.

Belgorod region: characteristic features of fishing

Fishing in Belogorye can be either free or paid. Free fishing is particularly popular, since it is possible to catch any fish. Therefore, it makes no sense to pay any more money for fishing on a paid reservoir, although there is the possibility of a guaranteed catch.

Despite this, paid reservoirs increasingly represent communities where you can not only go fishing, but also spend your free time profitably. In this regard, it should be noted that fishing in the Belgorod region is an exclusively positive emotion. Regardless of which reservoirs you fish on - wild or paid, there is a sufficient amount of fish here.

Features of fishing in the Belgorod region include:

  • Huge species diversity of fish.
  • Opportunity to catch a large specimen.
  • A decent catch is guaranteed regardless of the time of year.
  • Fishing is possible with any gear and any bait.
  • The bulk of reservoirs are located within populated areas, so getting to them is not difficult.
  • The rivers are not characterized by rapid currents, so fishing here does not have special conditions.
  • Fishing is allowed both from a boat and from the shore.
  • Weather conditions are not characterized by sudden changes in pressure and temperature, so the bite here is always stable.
  • The beautiful places here are conducive not only to fishing, but also to relaxing.

The most fishing places in the Belgorod region

Fishing is considered one of the most common and favorite activities of local men and women. Of course, residents of the Belgorod region are just a stone's throw away from the Seversky Donets River. And there you can have a great time with a fishing rod in your hands, or armed with a spinning rod.

I don’t know why, but the most catchy points of the river are located in the place where the reservoir borders or is close to the border with Ukraine. This is truly a great place for lovers of active fishing, or those who just want to relax on the shore of a beautiful reservoir.

What kind of fish is found in the Belgorod region

The proximity of the Belgorod region to the central part of Europe does not provide the opportunity to fish for exotic fish. Local reservoirs are inhabited only by fish species familiar to all residents of central Russia:

But there are also quite a lot of familiar fish in the vicinity of Belgorod, sometimes you even manage to catch a trophy specimen that will be remembered for the rest of your life. The impressions from such fishing are difficult to convey in words; you just need to experience everything for yourself.

Fishing in Belgorod and the Belgorod region: fishing spots and fishing methods

The territory of the Belgorod region can be called low-water. The fact is that in the region only one percent of the territory is covered by water bodies. But this does not mean that fishing in the Belgorod region will be bad. True lovers can go to such rivers as Oskol, Seversky Donets, Tikhaya Sosna. They have many ponds and reservoirs in which you can catch trophy fish from the carp family.

Map of fishing spots

All local and visiting fishermen know fishing on the Seversky Donets. Given the wide width of the reservoir, the current on it is quite weak and calm. Despite the great influence of fishermen and factories on the banks of the river, it still pleases fishermen with crucian carp, perch, pike, silver carp and roach. The most desired trophy of local fishermen remains the river giant - catfish.

Fishermen who go to the Seversky Donets use a variety of gear and fish both from the shore and from a boat. Spinning rods, float rods, bottom and feeder rods will always find use on the river. The main thing is that the fisherman likes it, and there will always be fish.

Bream and crucian carp are best caught with feeder gear.

In places where the bottom is quite hard and the current is quite strong, you can often find crucian carp, carp and bream. The fish here are quite large in size, so you need to take powerful gear and prepare it in advance.

There are quite a lot of fish in the river, so you can catch them even from the shore, and you don’t have to make any special efforts. True, the banks of the reservoir are overgrown and there are a lot of snags at the bottom, so you need to fish only in proven places. In places where there are a lot of snags on the bottom there are often predatory fish.

The Oskol River is considered the most beautiful body of water in the Belgorod region. Steep banks with natural beauty simply captivate the views of fishermen and tourists. Oskol is a tributary of the Seversky Donets, so the fish found there are the same.

On reservoirs

Fishing in Belgorod is popular not only in the Seversky Donets. Very often city residents come to the reservoir of the same name. Winter fishing here is very interesting. For outdoor recreation in the region, the Soldatskoye Reservoir is popular, which is famous for its rich catch of chub, perch, crucian carp and carp. Many recreation centers and sanatoriums have been built along its banks.

The Stary Oskol reservoir in the Belgorod region is a universal place. Here you can fish equally comfortably both from a boat or boat, and from the shore. Some extreme sports enthusiasts even engage in spearfishing. The most common fish in this reservoir is perch, although pike, bream, carp and roach are also caught well.

The artificial pond Zapolnoye will delight you with a catch of grass carp and large silver carp. Here, too, it is equally comfortable to fish both from the shore and from a boat. Local residents use the most common equipment for fishing - a fishing rod or spinning rod.

Free fishing spots in the Belgorod region

The Belgorod Reservoir has an extremely convenient location, which attracts fishing enthusiasts, just 5 minutes by car from Belgorod and you are already there. Winter fishing is especially interesting in this place. And in the summer there are more than enough fishermen at the reservoir. They catch silver bream, burbot, bream, roach, perch, pike and pike perch.

The Soldatskoe Reservoir attracts fishermen from nearby regions with valuable species of fish. The best fish in the reservoir are chub, perch and crucian carp. Very often you also come across carp. This reservoir is no less suitable for an excellent outdoor recreation, as the nature is very beautiful. Various recreation centers, sanatoriums and other institutions are also present on the shore of the reservoir.

Seversky Donets River

Stary Oskol Reservoir is a universal place for fishing. Here you can comfortably fish from a boat with a motor or oars, fish from the shore and even go underwater hunting. Among the most common fish, local anglers note perch, pike, bream, crucian carp, carp and roach.

Reservoirs for fishing in Belogorye

Fishermen visit ponds, lakes and rivers. Each of the reservoirs has its own characteristics. Some of the most popular ones are:

  • The Seversky Donets and Oskol rivers.
  • Korochanskoye Reservoir.
  • Ponds Znamenka, Stepanovka, Shigarovsky.

Seversky Donets River

This is the most visited river for most local and visiting fishermen. It is of particular interest in the area located closer to the Ukrainian lands: here it becomes somewhat wider, and its flow is not so fast. This river contains a sufficient amount of fish such as:

  • Bream.
  • Crucian carp.
  • Pike.
  • Roach.
  • Zander.
  • Ide.
  • Perch.
  • Som.

On the Seversky Donets River, fish are caught using a variety of gear, such as ordinary float rods, bottom rods and spinning rods. You can catch catfish with bottom tackle, especially in the evening hours, and with a regular float fishing rod you can catch crucian carp and bream. The feeder is mainly fished downstream of the river, since there are quite a lot of fish in this area, although the bottom here is characterized as hard, with a fast current. In this part of the river, the fish suffer from a lack of food supply, so they are hungrier and there are no problems with frequent bites.

If you fish from a boat, then there is a chance of catching large fish. Particularly attractive are areas with rapid currents where predatory fish hunt.

The Seversky Donets is characterized by the presence of heavily snowed areas, as it flows next to forest plantations. Therefore, there are many really catchy places on this river. Local fishermen use spinning rods and artificial baits of various models to catch predatory fish species.

In addition to large species of fish, this river also contains smaller species, such as roach, rudd and bleak, which are caught using ordinary float rods.

FISHING with a CAMERA on the SEVERSKY DONET

Oskol River

This river flows through the entire Belgorod region and is characterized as a quiet river with a calm flow.

It is better to fish here from a boat, looking for deeper areas where there is not much silt. On this river, spinning rods, bottom fishing rods and ordinary float gear are also considered the most popular.

The following species of fish are found in the Oskol River:

  • Pike.
  • Chub.
  • Bream.
  • Carp.
  • Gudgeon.
  • Som.
  • Perch.

To catch predatory fish, you will have to arm yourself with spinning rods and artificial baits, such as spoons, wobblers and edible rubber. Pike, of which there are a huge number here, respond well to ordinary, oscillating spoons.

The most catchy time is spring, when fish after wintering prepare for spawning. During this period, fish move in schools and bite on common baits such as worms, bloodworms or maggots.

Fishing ponds in the Belgorod region

There are a sufficient number of fishing ponds in this area, both free and paid. Nowadays, paid ponds are much more popular among fishermen, since it is much more difficult to catch fish in ordinary reservoirs.

Paid fishing has some advantages. For example:

  • High density of fish.
  • Wide variety of fish.
  • Close location to populated areas.
  • More chances for a successful catch.
  • Help from reservoir staff.
  • Possibility of renting gear and other fishing equipment.
  • Comfortable conditions for fishing.
  • Possibility to fish for several days in comfort.

The most famous ponds that are regularly visited by fishermen are:

  1. “Znamenka”, where the cost of fishing will cost 350 rubles. Carp, carp, grass carp, pike perch and other fish are caught here.
  2. “White Well” at a price of 500 rubles for fishing. A variety of fish, including predatory ones, are also caught here.
  3. “Kamyshenka”, costing about 200-300 rubles for fishing. Carp, carp, grass carp, pike perch, etc. are caught.
