The annual event will take place on the night of November 4-5. The slogan of “Art Nights 2018” is “Art unites.” For cultural institutions throughout the country, this is a great opportunity to take a fresh look at their collections, express themselves, get featured in popular posters, and attract even more regular visitors. Libraries and cultural centers, small and large museums, music schools and conservatories, galleries and concert halls, art spaces and theaters, venues in cities and villages - all will open art to the viewer.

When will the Night of Museums be in 2021 in Moscow?

“Night of the Arts” is an all-Russian annual cultural and educational event that unites different types of creativity. From the evening until the morning of November 4, concerts, lectures, film screenings, performances and meetings with leading figures of Russian culture are held throughout Moscow. “Night of the Arts” experiments with genres and formats, takes culture beyond the usual spaces: meetings with art take place in the subway, on bridges, in shopping centers and at train stations. Everyone can attend the events. The “Night of Arts” involves venues throughout Moscow.

State Gallery on Solyanka

The unique 24-hour “Night Vigils” campaign will begin at 18:00 on November 4. The marathon participants, including Solyanka’s favorite friends - famous actors, directors and social media stars, will present and show their favorite animated films in a 24-hour non-stop format: everyone will make an hour-long selection and come to talk about it.

Also, the exhibition of independent animation from around the world “Boris and Paul Vigils” will present selections of the best and favorite animation of legendary animators from around the world: Yuri Norshtein, Andrei Khrzhanovsky, Alexander Petrov, as well as Bill Plympton, brothers Stephen and Timothy Quay & Timothy Quay), Oscar winner Adam Elliot and Japanese Oscar winner Koji Yamamura.

On November 4, from 18:00 to 23:00, the annual All-Russian event “Night of Arts” will be held at the Darwin Museum.

This year, the “Night of the Arts” will begin outside the museum. At dusk, the video installation “Collection in 3D” will unfold on the façade of the museum building, presenting rare exhibits from the collections of the Darwin Museum in 4K resolution. Real objects from scientific collections, which are usually hidden in museum storage rooms, were scanned in 3D format using unique technology. Birds, animals and mollusk shells, skulls of fossil animals and their modern relatives, reconstructions of the external appearance of ancient people, from Australopithecus to Neanderthal, will appear on the wall of the museum at sunset.

For the first time in the history of the Night of the Arts, the Darwin Museum will open for evening visits the central hall of the museum, where the largest animals from the collection are presented - African and Indian elephants, a three-meter Nile crocodile, a heavyweight walrus, long-legged giraffes and an albatross with a wingspan of 3.5 meters . It is adjacent to where, unlike classical museums, all exhibits can and should be touched with your hands.

The central project of the Night will be the exhibition “Back to the Water” about the superpowers of aquatic and semi-aquatic animals. A rare skull of an extinct sea cow, a whalebone, a sperm whale tooth, a narwhal tusk - this is an incomplete list of all the curiosities at the exhibition. And for the first time in 5 years, a rarity of the museum is being exhibited - a stuffed great auk, which was included in the Guinness Book of Records for its high cost. At 19:40 and 20:40 there will be an interactive quiz “Recycled water experts”. The winners of the quiz will receive colorful encyclopedias about dinosaurs from the museum’s partners, the Avanta publishing house. Those who go on a cultural trip with children are recommended to take part in the demonstration of H₂O experiments “Not from Empty to Empty” from the Theater of Entertaining Science. Sessions at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00.

At the exhibition “Zakhoder and all-all-all” for the anniversary of the poet and children's writer Boris Zakhoder, together with the master Lyudmila Mogila, the younger participants of the action will create a soft toy with their own hands in just half an hour - the clumsy Winnie the Pooh bear, the wise Owl, the touching Piglet or the thoughtful Donkey .

Detective fans will join a tour of the exhibition “The Tunguska Mystery” to become a witness, and perhaps a participant, in a real investigation into the mystery of the 20th century. 110 years ago, an unidentified space object called the Tunguska meteorite exploded in the sky over the Siberian taiga. What did the eyewitnesses actually see? How were the first investigations of the disaster site carried out? The details of the Tunguska phenomenon, reflected in the works of artist Nikolai Fedorov, will be revealed by the author of the exhibition, Anna Vasilyeva. Excursions start at 19:00 and 21:00.

The exhibition “On Silk Wings” demonstrates about 50 works by Anna Miloserdova, one of the most striking and original representatives of the professional silk painting workshop.
The exhibition “Toothed and Toothless from the Order Edentate” will tell about unique animals - sloths, anteaters and armadillos, which live without teeth or use their “imperfect version” for many millions of years. In the interactive complex “Walk the Path of Evolution”, children and adults will measure the height of Australopithecus and touch a mammoth tooth, and in the demonstration lesson “The World under a Microscope” they will see the mysterious Universe of microorganisms.

Cultural and exhibition space “Arts Center. Moscow"

There will be entertainment of a new format - “Concert for a Hologram with Orchestra No. 1”. The holographic performance includes iconic ballet numbers performed by Bolshoi Theater prima ballerinas Olga Smirnova and Ekaterina Shipulina: “The Swan”, “The Taming of the Shrew”, “Russian Seasons”. The concert is accompanied by a live performance by the First Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor and composer Sergei Zheludkov.

Pioneers of the night

For the first time, the Ostankino TV Tower will conduct night tours of its interactive multimedia complex.
The guide's story will be accompanied by listening to "intellectual" dance music. How the organizers will be able to combine this remains a mystery, but the event promises to be interesting. Participants will be able to use interactive equipment to literally build the entire tower from foundation to spire in just a minute, simulate various weather conditions and even listen to the “symphony” of metal cables that run inside this unique structure. Zaryadye Park, which only recently celebrated its first birthday, is also rapidly breaking into the cultural life of the capital. On November 4, the choir of the New Jerusalem Monastery will perform here. Hearing it outside the walls of the monastery is very rare and lucky. The press service of the RG park said that the site is unlikely to accommodate more than 300 people, so those who want to hear choral singing will have to make room.

The choir performance is not the only entertainment prepared by the park: you can also visit the attractions “Flying Over Moscow” and “Time Machine” for free, seeing the modern capital from a bird’s eye view or the city in different time periods. In addition, the exhibition of rare paintings from the Tretyakov Gallery and, of course, the ice cave, already beloved by Muscovites and guests of the capital, will continue to operate.

Cinema "Zvezda"

As part of a special program of events, the creators of the current city blog “Psycho Daily” - former journalists of the online publication “Afisha Daily” - will prepare a program of discussions between young artists and recognized masters. Thus, composer and pianist Kirill Richter will discuss contemporary music with philosopher and musicologist Vladimir Martynov, and debutant director Alexander Gorchilin will talk about cinema with Sergei Solovyov.

Free visits to museums in Moscow in November 2021

Every month, local authorities in Moscow conduct a program of free visits to museums in the capital. On November 4 and 18, 2021, residents and guests of the city can see exhibitions of various cultural institutions without paying an entrance fee. 40 Moscow museums take part in this program. However, it should be reminded that citizens should register for the exhibition by telephone in advance.

This program is attended by the Museum of Archeology, the English Compound Museum, the Lefortovo Museum, the estate museum "Estate of the Princes Golitsyn", the State Defense Museum, the Zelenograd Museum of History and Local Lore, the Pushkin Museum, and the exhibition hall "Chekhov's House". The full list of cultural institutions that are available for free admission in November 2021 can be viewed on the city’s official website.

Kyiv and Rizhsky railway stations

The process of bringing former plants and factories into use for the benefit of art has long been launched, and the Night of Arts 2021 is going even further - now cultural events will be held on the territory of existing train stations.

At the Rizhsky Station, under the slogan NewSchoolOldSchool, a fashion show will be held by the rising stars of the domestic fashion scene - students of the Fashion master's program at the HSE School of Design. Continuing the theme of dialogue between generations, non-professional models of various ages will take part in the show.

Kievsky Station Square

And the waiting room of the Kievsky railway station will turn into a concert venue. From 19:00 to 22:30 the older generation will provide a music program. Composer Alexander Manotskov will present a choral performance “Russian Farewell”, text by Radishchev (“Journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow”) - vocalists of Moscow cultural centers over 75 years old will perform a new score specially written for them. They will be followed by participants in the Channel One project “Voice 60+”.

Admission to the “Night of Arts” events is free; some events will require pre-registration on the official website of the project. The event takes place every year on the initiative of the Moscow Department of Culture. The theme of the “Night of Arts 2018” was age and its impact on the self-identification of a city dweller.

Tsaritsyno

  • Dolskaya street, building 1, 18:00–00:00. Free admission

The musical program “Night in Tsaritsyn” will feature a choir of students from the State Musical Pedagogical Institute named after M.M.
Ippolitov-Ivanov with classical Russian and foreign compositions. The Bazhenov Hall of the Grand Palace will host the musical and poetic program “Sergei and Isadora” of the Roman Viktyuk Theater.

A night tour will be held around the central palace part of the imperial estate. Guests will learn about the architectural styles of the palace buildings of the Tsaritsyn ensemble and its restoration in the 20th century, and see magnificent evening illumination.

The special project “Gallery in the Sky” will be available to everyone who uses a smartphone or tablet. Using augmented reality technology, it will be possible to see three-dimensional light objects located in real locations. You can download the application at special stands.

In the animal world

It is also worth talking about the program that the Moscow Zoo prepared for the event, which is clearly the leader in the number and variety of all kinds of activities. True, these events cannot be called night events - almost all events will end by 9 pm. But the organizers are easy to understand - after all, the target audience is supposed to sleep after a mug of kefir and a cartoon. On this day, theatrical performances, educational quests will take place, lectures will be held about animals against the backdrop of the fauna themselves, and there will also be a presentation of a book about the famous Russian naturalist writer Georgy Skrebitsky.

The organizers decided to dedicate the evening block to images of animals in the works of Mikhail Bulgakov. It’s not difficult to guess who we’ll be talking about - after all, Behemoth the Cat was walking around Patriarch’s, a stone’s throw from the zoo on Barrikadnaya. Real connoisseurs of the writer’s work will be invited to listen to stories about the heroes of the fantastic story “Fatal Eggs” - and here, probably, reptiles will crawl to the fore.
