The morning was cool, the wind never died down, but it was positive outside, the snow was melting a little, and somewhere inside, there were so many doubts about the ice, whether it would hold up, etc. We did not despair, because on Friday evening , the temperature will drop to minus 11 degrees, which means there will be one hundred percent ice. It’s very unusual to board a boat that is supposed to take you to the other side, it’s a little scary to be honest. Already at 6 in the morning we were met by Kolyan on a Honda, we overloaded all the shmurdyak and, without hesitation, set off to meet the Siberian taiga.

In short, I woke up at dawn, drank some coffee, grabbed my gear and went to shore. The Ob met with a foggy and cool breeze, however, not strong, which was pleasing, but the results of the companions turned out to be more than disastrous: both had ZEROs. Well, we need to get involved in the process.

Swimming through a field of water lilies, I see predatory arrows of the PIKE TYPE starting from under the water lilies one after another))). And then the Pike comes out, a miss is still a miss, I quickly exhaust it and repeat the wiring along the same trajectory... and again a miss. “I’m hooking it early,” I thought in the boat, analyzing the situation, straightening the already battered frog on the oat grass. Well, will it come out again or not? No, she’s gone... Well, let’s comb further. And again there is a way out, a blow and resistance!!! Adrenaline filled me from head to toe!!!!

I swim to the end of the lake and start combing the water lilies. There is pike there, it comes out even in open water and attacks frogs.

Here's another strike and the frog disappeared from sight, while fishing the hook on the water lilies and almost dead, I start knocking on the butt and then the hook went: it turned out to be a perch that pecked at a frog that was 2 times the size of its mouth.

During the fishing trip, two frogs simply turned into rags, I had to treat them at home with a lighter and cut off their snouts, so the oat grass practically couldn’t hold on.

I decided to test the open water and cast along the reeds, and now, on the fourth retrieve, there is noticeable resistance, the pike rushes into the water lilies, the drag sings and questions flash through my head: “3kg?”, “no, probably 4kg?”, “maybe 6kg?”. The struggle ends with being dragged into the landing net, but then the most interesting thing: when lifting the landing net into the boat, it jumps out and, using a wobbler caught on the landing net, is thrown into the boat. Somehow I put it on a kukan - a considerable pike (after weighing 5 kg without 5 grams). The pike came out on a wobbler, which I have been trying to catch on Tomi since the beginning of the season, or more precisely on the OSP Rudra Jerkbait, a iconic wobbler and adored by many wobbler lovers.

Father swam up and said that he also caught a Pike of 6 kg. (and a little later another one of the same kind).

In shallow water the pike were caught on the Tsuribito Dead Minnow, excellent subsurface, works great in windows, soft twitch wiring with pauses!!!

Well, it’s almost completely dark, packing up and returning to camp, I’m 100% happy with this day.

In this case, it is necessary to take into account both natural factors (spawning time, weather anomalies) and human intervention (water level regulation, warm runoff, discharge of chemicals, etc.). It is safe to say that no one has detailed statistics and collecting them is useless, because... Such data quickly becomes outdated and loses relevance. It is known that in the same region the biting situation can change dramatically within just a couple of years (with the exception of places that are difficult for humans to reach).

It is for the reasons described above that the bite forecast at Fish Hoek is not formed on the basis of some “averaged statistical data”. Over thousands of years, humanity has studied quite well the general principles of the influence of weather and the moon on living organisms. These principles are used in the given algorithm.
