With technoplankton on summer carp
One of the most unusual and unusual fishing methods for our carp anglers is carp fishing with technoplankton.
This attachment is obtained by pressing a special powder. During the manufacturing process, it is shaped into small barrels, no larger than a wine cork. Technoplankton contains flavorings that stimulate the appetite of fish. Each barrel has an axial hole for installation. The composition of factory-made baits is almost impossible to replicate at home, since they contain a number of chemicals that, when dissolved in water, “dust” and create a cloud of turbidity that is attractive to fish.
Attracted by the cloud, the carp comes to the fishing spot and begins to suck on the capsule, which emits delicious odors. At the same time, it also sucks in floating leashes with foam balls on hooks: these carp tackles are the same tyrants that were used to catch fish in time immemorial, only now they use hooks instead of buttons.
To make your own technoplankton you will need:
* cake;
* cereal shit;
* powdered milk;
* dried dill;
* breadcrumbs.
All components (except dill) are taken in equal parts. Dill is added to taste - you only need a little of it. The products are loaded into the grinder and ground into flour.
The most important thing about this attachment is the geyser. It includes:
* filler (starch or any flour) – 12 parts;
* citric acid – 3 parts;
* soda - 5 parts.
The geyser is prepared in a separate container and also stored separately. It is combined with the main mixture immediately before pressing. You can also use dry kvass as a geyser.
For one barrel you will need 2 tablespoons of cereal grain and flour, 0.5 tablespoon of dry milk, 1 teaspoon of geyser and 0.5 tablespoon of breadcrumbs. All this is mixed and put into the press.
The mold is placed on the fire for 30 seconds, turned over and kept on the fire for another 30 seconds, then removed from the heat and continued pressing until you get a barrel about 5 cm long. Technoplankton made according to this recipe has more than once shown high catchability - carp fishing With such baits, fishing almost always ends in catching large fish.
When fishing on cool days, it is better to avoid dill. It works well in extreme heat, so you can prepare dill capsules especially for hot days.
As for manufacturing technology, it is not at all necessary to strictly follow it. The process of kneading the base can be, for example, like this: all the ingredients are mixed and moistened, and then mixed again.
The resulting mass is rolled into flat cakes 1 mm thick and dried in the oven over low heat with the door open or in the open air. Then the cakes are passed through a meat grinder, the resulting mass is moistened and pressed.
To deliver equipment, you can use a radio-controlled boat - it greatly simplifies the fisherman’s life and makes it much more enjoyable.
Recipes for making your own technoplakton
Each fisherman makes the composition in his own way, but there are several of the most popular mixtures, which we will focus on.
Recipe 1:
- 200 grams of corn flour (you can make it from popcorn ground in a coffee grinder);
- 200 grams of wheat flour;
- 300 grams of oatmeal flour;
- 200 grams of semolina flour;
- 150 grams of soda + lemon juice.
All ingredients must be mixed and sprinkled with water. When the dough becomes plastic, it must be placed in a press and made into briquettes, or it can be baked in a microwave oven. The effervescent mixture must be mixed with the mass immediately before pressing.
Recipe 2:
- 0.5 kg of raw semolina;
- 0.5 kg corn flour;
- 300 grams of breadcrumbs;
- 300 grams of mamalyga;
- 300 grams of sugar.
Mix everything until smooth and dilute with honey solution, gradually.
Recipe 3:
- 1 can of condensed milk;
- Powdered milk mixture;
- Powder cake.
Pour a can of condensed milk into a bowl and gradually stir in the dry ingredients until the mixture reaches the consistency of sour cream. Milk and cake should be added in equal quantities. Place this in the freezer for half an hour. Then we take it out and knead it into a tight dough, again adding dry ingredients in equal quantities. Add the bulk part a little at a time; if you add a lot at once, the dough may thicken too quickly. Moisten slightly with water to make it sticky. At the end we pass it through a sieve and press it.
Recipe 4 for feeding on the bottom:
- 0.5 kg of dog food;
- 100 grams of roasted ground peanuts;
- 50 grams of dry sweet pepper;
- 1 cup powdered sugar.
If you want to use this recipe for float fishing, add more dry ingredients.
Recipe 5:
- 250 grams of ready-made fruit jelly;
- 1 tsp. honey;
- Any combination of crushed cereal flakes, breadcrumbs and powdered milk.
Mix the cooled jelly with honey, and then gradually add the dry mixture into it until a moist (but not wet) mixture is formed. Place the compressed barrels on a napkin to dry completely.
Recipe 6:
- 350 g ground flour;
- 350 g raw sunflower seeds;
- 150 grams of wheat flour;
- 150 grams of rice flour;
- 1 cup corn flakes;
- 100 grams of milk powder.
First grind all components to a powder using a coffee grinder, and then mix.
Recipe 7:
- 250 grams of sunflower seeds;
- 150 grams of shortbread cookies with creamy taste;
- 125 grams of dry cream;
- 250 grams of cooked peas;
- 250 grams of fish bait;
- 250 grams of semolina;
- 125 grams of protein powder;
- Flavoring.
Grind all ingredients and mix.
Recipe 8:
- 0.5 kg corn flour;
- 250 g rice flour;
- 250 g pea flour;
- 250 g buckwheat flour;
- 250 g milk baby food with rice;
- 250 grams of raw peanuts;
- 250 g raw sunflower seeds without peel;
- Honey syrup.
Recipe 9:
- 1 tbsp. Sunflower seed;
- 150 grams of dry cookies with vanilla flavor;
- 250 grams of chopped popcorn;
- 250 grams of semolina;
- 250 grams of corn flour;
- 250 grams of milk powder;
- 125 grams of cucumber flour.
To make cucumber flour, you need to grate the cucumber, dry it and then grind it. The flour has a fairly strong aroma, which attracts silver carp well.
Recipe 10:
- 4 parts flour for hominy;
- 4 parts millet flour;
- 1 part rice flour;
- 1 part milk powder;
- Vanilla flavored sugar syrup.
Mix everything, adding syrup periodically. The total syrup should be added to about 30% of the total mass. Then let the mixture rest for 60 minutes. And at the end, we pass through a coarse sieve, press and dry.
Sugar syrup: 1 part water + 1 part sugar + vanilla, boil everything for 20 minutes and cool. If you need to increase buoyancy, add crushed cork.
How to catch and catch technoplankton
What kind of bait is this that the silver carp liked so much? Technoplakton - has the form of a large tablet, the production of which is made from a special powder. Once in the water, the tablet gradually dissolves and thereby forms a cloud resembling living plankton.
The main composition of technoplankton includes special substances that help increase the appetite of fish. This version of the bait is attached to a special equipment called a “stick”; leashes with hooks are tied to the ledges.
A foam ball is placed on each hook, thanks to which the hook will always be above the bottom surface, hiding in a cloud. The rod is selected as rigid as possible, up to three meters long.
As for the reel, it must be strong and have a reliable clutch that will completely absorb the blows of the caught fish.
☸ Features of fishing using technoplankton
The secrets of fishing for technoplankton have long been known to everyone. It only seems at first that some special skills are needed here, but after two or three trips to the pond and the capture of the first handsome guys, everything falls into place. The hands know what to do, and the fisherman feels in his element. The main thing is to correctly mount the equipment and securely secure the barrel of plankton, which performs two functions at once: bait and groundbait. It is advisable to put foam balls on the hooks to make them buoyant. Some fishermen simply hide hook tips in technoplankton; this option is also quite suitable. When everything is ready, the tackle is thrown into a promising place, and the rod is fixed on the stand.
The principle of fishing with technoplankton is quite simple.
Once the technoplankton is in the water, it will begin to dissolve and spread the aroma around itself, which will attract fish. Technoplankton dissolves in water from 1 to 3 hours, it all depends on the strength of the current.
A silver carp that swims up to a cloud will begin to indiscriminately swallow supposedly living plankton, and with it the hooks that dangle freely in the water column, namely in the cloud itself.
It is important to note that immediately after casting it is important to be constantly on alert, since a bite can occur at any moment. After a silver carp encounters the sting of a hook, it can behave in different ways: jerk sharply to the side, jump out of the water, swim towards the shore, etc. It is best to pull silver carp out of the water using a hook or hook.
Press for technoplankton
Without a press it is impossible to achieve a high result, since the mass, while in water, must gradually turn into a dust cloud.
Depending on the pressing method, you may need:
- metal or plastic pipe;
- cylinder or plug;
- pin;
- compression device;
- ejector piston;
- microwave;
At first glance, the product may seem technologically complex, but, in fact, anyone can make such bait at home.
There are two pressing methods:
Cold pressing:
- You will need any metal tube about 90 cm long.
- You need to select the appropriate cylinder for it.
- A hole is drilled in its lower part for a pin, which will be attached to the lower plug, threaded onto the lower part of the tube.
- Pour the mixture to the very top using a watering can and compact it.
- Separate the mixture from the molds. The result was a small but dense briquette.
- The mixture placed inside the tube is pressed using a vice or clamp.
Hot pressing:
- The mixture is placed in a plastic pipe with a tight-fitting stopper.
- The mixture is compacted by an ejector piston.
- Place it in the microwave for 30 seconds and set it to maximum power.
- After extraction, the mixture is compacted again.
Catching silver carp using float gear
Its help is resorted to only in cases where the fish is actively feeding at the surface of the reservoir, although this happens only at night; during the day, silver carp prefers to stay in the depths.
Installation of float tackle is practically no different from bottom tackle; the only difference is that foam plastic may not be attached to the hooks. After casting, the bottom hook dangles freely right under the technoplankton, and the two side hooks hang on leashes along its walls.
Features of preparing technoplankton depending on fishing conditions
When preparing technoplankton, you need to consider what type of fishing you are preparing it for: surface (float) or bottom:
- To fish on the bottom, you definitely need to add ingredients that will “dust”, components that can float (ground wine cork, bran, etc.).
- For surface fishing, these should be substances that dissolve gradually and leave a large cloudy trail behind in the water.

Fishing with technoplankton
Fishing with technoplankton
About thirty years ago it was believed that silver carp were a fish of no interest to recreational fishing, despite their tempting size. Plankton, the only food of silver carp, cannot be put on a hook, and amateur fishing with nets and other netting gear has long been permitted only in the northern regions where silver carp did not live. Cases of silver carp being caught on a hook were considered very rare; Perhaps even spinning anglers caught (crimped) silver carp more often than anglers.
As a result, silver carp were not even mentioned in some books on fishing. Other authors argued that it is still possible to fish for silver carp - using bottom fishing rods with vegetable baits: pieces of cabbage leaves, green peas (not canned), etc.
Both opinions are partly true. Silver carp do not feed on cabbage leaves, but nevertheless they fall for this bait, such a paradox. The trick is that both fresh peas and cabbage leaves have positive buoyancy - the hooks they set rise above the bottom and are in the water column. And the silver carp may well capture the bait with its mouth along with the flow of water from which the fish filters plankton. There is no need to even harass the cabbage - a small piece of polystyrene foam will work just as well. The question is how to increase the likelihood of a fish accidentally catching an inedible bait, how to attract silver carp to the hooks?
The issue was resolved when a special bait (also known as bait) for silver carp, the so-called technical plankton, “TECHNOPLANCTON”, appeared. Technoplankton is produced molded in the form of small barrels - cylindrical briquettes with a longitudinal through hole, externally resembling floats from a net or nonsense. The composition of technoplankton is a big, big secret of manufacturers, but one thing is clear even without knowing the exact recipe: in addition to the usual feed fractions and flavorings, the briquette also contains a so-called “geyser”, which, when released into water, gives the same effect as a medical drug, good known to all citizens suffering from hangover syndromes is alko-Seltzer (the name is popular and not entirely correct; the original name of the manufacturer Alka-Seltzer is read in Russian as Alka-Seltzer).
Once in the water, technoplankton seems to boil in small bubbles and form a suspension, a cloud of small particles of food, very similar to real plankton. The deceived silver carp grab the bait - and at the same time, baited hooks, located right there, in a cloud of turbidity attractive to fish, fall into their wide-open mouths. There are several types of branded technoplankton, they are the same in principle of action, differing in flavoring additives and aromas: vanilla, anise, bloodworm, etc.
To ensure that hooks with bait are located in the very center of the cloud of bait particles, the equipment for catching silver carp includes a special device, the so-called. “silver carp stick” or simply “stick”. Both homemade “sticks” and branded ones are used, sold in stores complete with technoplankton briquettes, leashes, hooks and other equipment. The design of the “stick” is simple - it is a diamond-shaped, square or triangular frame with a pin protruding to the side, onto which a technoplankton briquette is put on and fixed, and leashes with hooks are tied to the corners of the diamond or triangle.
Rice. 60. “Silver carp stick” (option for bottom fishing): 1 – main line; 2 – pin with a lock (a piece of cambric); 3 – technoplankton briquette; 4 – hooks with a nozzle; 5 – triangular frame; 6 – flat sinker.
“Sticks” are included both in the bottom version of the equipment and in the float version for fishing on top. In fact, the structure of the silver carp's mouth clearly indicates that this fish is best suited to catch plankton in the near-surface layers. When using float gear, there is no need to attach foam balls; you can even fish with empty hooks hanging 10–15 cm below the bait briquette.
But the wind, even a relatively weak one, blows the float (and attached hooks) away from the cloud of bait, so fishing with a float on top is practiced only in complete calm.
There are also intermediate options for equipment, which with some convention can be called half-bottoms (although the bait and hooks are in the upper layers of the water): the sinker lies on the bottom, working as an anchor, and the float and “stick” remain not far from the surface. Often the sinker is not the end sinker, but slides along the main line between the rod and the float. In light winds, such gear works well, but when it gets stronger, the cloud of bait is quickly dissipated by the waves and inevitably you have to fish from the bottom.
Technoplankton is quite an expensive bait; a set of a “stick”, three briquettes of food, a sinker and hooks with leads cost about 300 rubles in the early 2000s. Meanwhile, briquettes are consumed quickly, regardless of whether there is a bite or not. A barrel of technoplankton completely dissolves in water in about half an hour, then a cloud of bait of the required concentration remains in the water for a few more minutes, but gradually dissipates and the tackle must be pulled out and “charged” again. When the bite is weak, fishing becomes expensive, so Russian fishermen tirelessly experiment with homemade analogues of technoplankton.
On the vast expanses of the Internet you can find many recipes based on flour, ground crackers, semolina, crushed algae, bait mixtures for other fish, etc. - and each author claims that the bait he invented is quite effective, but this is not the case with outside confirmation worse. At silver carp fishing competitions, the fruits of an inquisitive fisherman’s mind are so far losing out to competition from industrial technoplankton.
Technoplankton
Technoplankton is unrivaled in terms of efficiency in catching silver carp. This is an effective component that can be used both as bait and as a bait. It is a barrel made of pressed food powder. It is used in bottom and float fishing.
Today, technoplankton can be purchased at any fishing store. Anglers have access to different sizes of baits, which are scented with all sorts of scents. The most common scents are:
- original;
- vanilla;
- strawberries;
- bloodworm;
- honey;
- anise;
- blood.
All scents work, the main thing is to use them at the right time. In each reservoir, silver carp has its own preferences, so it is advisable to find out about this in advance so as not to buy up all the technoplankton.
Today briquettes of various properties are produced. There are some that disintegrate in half an hour in still water, but in a current they usually get wet in ten minutes. Therefore, technoplankton of a harder consistency is used for the river, which can last up to an hour until it finally falls apart. This “long-lasting” species is also good on closed ponds with passive biting, so as not to waste expensive bait and bait.
How did they start catching carp when technoplankton appeared?
Fishing for carp using technoplankton is noticeably different from old-fashioned methods. First of all, the approach and design. You can choose it for the season. It is no secret that in summer carp changes its diet and feeds on plant foods and zooplankton. And how it fits! It’s not for nothing that this glutton is called the river pig.
Technoplankton is a bait that imitates the food habitual for carp. The dry feed mixture is pressed into a barrel or tablet shape. When it gets into the water, it slowly dissolves, creating a fragrant cloud. The carp goes for it. He boldly sucks in the treats, but does not suspect that there are hooks on leashes hidden in the thickness, which he will pull in along with the food.

☸ Technoplankton recipes
The main requirement for bait for silver carp is the creation of a stable cloudy cloud. At the same time, we must not forget about the forehead’s predilections for certain foods. In other words, technoplankton should be well dusted and tasty. In practice, the following mixtures performed well.
Recipe 1 (for making one barrel)
- 30 g corn flour;
- 15 g oatmeal;
- 15 g semolina;
- 30 g buckwheat flour;
- 15 g milk powder.
Recipe 2
- 30 g millet flour;
- 30 g corn flour;
- 20 g breadcrumbs;
- 15 g dry cream;
- 0.5 tsp. sugar syrup.
What is plankton and what are its features?
Plankton are microorganisms that inhabit all bodies of water: from oceans to puddles. Life on our planet began with plankton. It is so small that only the largest representatives can be seen with the naked eye. For example, in fresh water the largest zooplankton reaches 5 mm. Plankton is divided into the following types:
- phytoplankton;
- zooplankton;
- bacterioplankton.
Plankton is the main food for inhabitants of reservoirs in general and for carp fish in particular. Therefore, artificial plankton shows good fishing results. By the way, you can buy technoplankton in Ukraine from us.

Composition of technoplankton
Technoplankton, which is logical, is made as attractive as possible for fish. The feed ingredients are selected in such a way that they have different specific gravity and buoyancy, respectively, due to which a different level cloud of nutrients appears in the water.
The composition of the finished technoplankton remains with the manufacturer. As for self-made, it is good to use the following ingredients in its composition:
- Fillers. Everything ground to flour - oatmeal, corn or popcorn, millet, buckwheat, peas (boiled or raw), breadcrumbs, dry cookies.
- Adhesive components (glue and do not allow to dissolve quickly). Dextrin, maltodextrin, technorapid, milk powder, cream powder, powdered sugar. It is better to use a mixture of maltodextrin and powdered sugar (there is literally a little less powder), rather than them separately.
- Flavors. Can be used in any form. It is necessary to add such an amount at which the kneading will be obvious and stable. Most of all, fish loves sweet aromas: honey, strawberry, caramel, vanilla, raspberry.
- Dissolution retardant. Typically starch or rice flour is used.
- Humidifier. Usually water is added.
- A bubbling ingredient helps create a geyser effect, which promotes the dissolution of components when placed in water (any effervescent tablets, baking soda + citric acid, dry kvass starter), ratio 1/6 to the total mass.
How to fish for technoplankton?
Catching carp using technoplankton requires knowledge of technology. The method does not require any brainpower and is accessible to everyone. Moreover, there are two ways:
Let's look at them separately.
This carp fishing
Bottom fishing involves catching fish located at depth. For this type, you need to stock up on a strong carp fishing rod, a reel (4000-4500) with a brake, trempel, hooks, leashes and the technoplankton itself. The bait sits on a pin inside the trempel. This is a special triangular device made of metal wire. A sinker is attached to the bottom of the trempel, and several wire loops are located on top. We put the main fishing line into the central one, and hang leashes with hooks on the rest. And now we string small pieces of foam onto the hooks.
Catching carp with a float
When fishing with a float, the “silver carp stick” is assembled in the same way, but we pass the main line through the feeder tube, to the top of which we attach the float. There is no need to use polystyrene foam. You should select the size of the leashes so that the hooks are 50-150 mm below the feed.
Regardless of the fishing technique, it is recommended not to touch the fishing rod after installing it on the stand. Moving can damage the formation of a dense nutrient cloud. Dissolution takes from half an hour to two hours. In industrial technoplankton, the dissolution period is indicated, but at home it can be adjusted by adding water and an adhesive component. Starch or rice flour act as glue. The more of them, the longer the barrel will dissolve. Buy Technoplankton from 18 UAH
Catching silver carp with a fishing rod
It’s worth saying right away that the use of the most common float options - fly and match fishing rods - is complicated by several factors. This:
- timidity of the silver carp, which does not allow it to come close to the shore;
- drift of equipment from the feeding area by the current;
- low casting accuracy when fishing with a match due to the windage of the fishing line.
Therefore, the optimal choice for catching silver carp would be a plug rod. The plug easily bypasses all the above-mentioned difficulties: the equipment for catching silver carp does not wear down, the distance is decent, the feeding is very accurate (as is casting), you can fish in any horizon.
What does such tackle for catching silver carp consist of? Since silver carp is a fairly strong fish, it is better to take a more powerful rod (a carp “caliber” will do). The fishing line should be strong, from 0.2 mm in diameter, and the leash can be set a little thinner - 0.16-0.18 mm. Some fishermen use large barrel-shaped floats, mistakenly believing that this is what is needed for large fish. This is fundamentally wrong. The high buoyancy of the float leads to the fact that the fish simply spits out the bait, which resists as if tied. Therefore, the bite alarm must be thin and light, with a load capacity of no more than 1 g. It must be loaded so that only the antenna is above the water in its working position. Don't skimp on hooks.
Now many manufacturers produce fairly high-quality hooks made of thin wire. It is better not to use a thick hook. To give buoyancy to such a product, you will need a large foam ball, while when catching silver carp with a fishing rod, small balls are used that imitate food particles.
The secret to the success of such fishing lies in the components of the bait mixture, which should create a stable cloudy spot. This can be achieved using ingredients such as bran, finely ground corn flour or milk powder. As a base, you can use boiled peas, breading, ground flour to a powder. The bait is delivered to the fishing point using a special bait cup.
In practice, a float rod is used quite rarely in targeted fishing for lizards. It is problematic to catch with fly and match tackle, and the plug is still not very common in our country. Therefore, most often silver carp is found only in bycatch, during carp fishing.
How to achieve big catches?
Over many years of practice in catching various types of fish, the most effective methods have been found:
- Use of special activators . This pheromone-based activator attracts fish the most at any time of the year. Reviews and discussions of this bait are here .
- Use sensitive gear . Read these methods in the appropriate section.
- Albumin-based baits . You can read it here .
Press for the production of technoplankton
To prepare technoplankton at home, you need to get a press.
There are several types of presses for its manufacture:
- Pressing with a manual screw press.
- Squeezing with a jack.
- Using a high pressure hydraulic press.
- Pressing in the microwave.
Simple cold pressing mold:
- Glass for pressing. You need a metal tube 8-10 cm long with a small diameter and a thread at the end for screwing on the plug.
- Cork. A screw-on plug for water pipes can be used as a plug.
- Pin for a hole in the tackle. You need to drill a hole in the plug cap and fix a thin but strong pin in it to make a hole in the finished barrel. Screw the plug onto the main tube.
- Seal. To compact the substance, you need to select a metal cylinder of such a diameter that it fits tightly and easily into the tube. The length of the cylinder should be the same as that of the tube. You can also screw a plug onto the inner piston cylinder from above.
Scheme of work:
- Screw the plug onto the main tube.
- Fill the tube with the mixture.
- Insert the piston.
- Clamp the structure using a bench vice, jack or clamp.
- Remove the piston and unscrew the cap from the tube.
- Push out the resulting barrel of technoplankton.
For pressing in the microwave, you can use several options:
- Using a plastic tube. From a plastic pipe of small diameter (about 30 mm, maybe smaller), you need to cut a piece of about 4-7 cm. Then you need to select 2 plugs that will tightly close both ends of the tube. Immediately close one end with a stopper and stuff the mixture tightly. Close the other end with a stopper and bake in the microwave. You can simply try to tightly fill a piece of tube without lids and put it in the oven. But with one lid, this form is much more convenient to fill out.
- Using a syringe. You need 2 disposable syringes with a volume of 20 ml. Cut the syringe from the side of the needle nose so that you get a cylinder. On the one hand, plug the syringe with a piston, fill it with the substance and, on the other hand, press it tightly with a piston from another syringe. Then you can leave the second piston, or you can remove it and put the cylinder in the microwave.
