Olympic Village Park in Moscow: history

The green area, laid out next to the Olympic Village in 1978, was intended for walking and recreation for Olympic athletes. To clear the territory, it was necessary to demolish the village of Nikolskoye, whose residents were provided with other housing. For more than three decades, no one took care of the park, so it acquired a neglected appearance and remained in little demand even among the population of the surrounding neighborhoods.

Reconstruction of the Olympic Village park began in 2014 according to a British project. An updated zone with improved infrastructure was opened in 2015. The project turned out to be successful, since, along with preserving its historical significance, the park acquired a social component, becoming modern, comfortable and accessible to all age categories of citizens. Today the park has turned into a favorite place for walks, sports, recreation and recreation. There are sports sections here, various events and competitions are held. Muscovites come here with families, as there is something for everyone here to their liking.
