History of the park
Until the beginning of the 20th century, the territory on which the Northern Tushino Park was located was an untouched area between the villages of Zakharkovo and Alyoshkino. There was also a large ravine with the Zakharkovsky stream flowing through it - it began near the Planernaya metro station. In the 50s of the last century, the collective farm planted an apple and pear (Zakharkovsky) orchard on this site. The Severnoye Tushino park itself was founded in 1992.
Almost 20 years later, in 2013, Severnoye Tushino Park underwent a large-scale reconstruction. It was during this period that the park was given the most modern look, meeting all the needs of citizens and residents of the nearby area. The park was equipped with a wake station and a network of bicycle paths.

Northern River Station Park
The Northern River Station opened in 1937 on the banks of the Khimki Reservoir, which was created in the same years. The building was built in the Stalinist Empire style and is crowned with a star with gems on the spire and decorated with proletarian sculptures. However, earlier it also had elements that were not inherent in Stalinist architecture: galleries of arches with columns, reminiscent of the Venetian Doge's Palace, and floral motifs of paintings in the internal halls. There are many stories associated with the station: such Soviet films as “Volga-Volga”, “Citizens”, “For Family Reasons” and “Vertical Races” were filmed here; because of it, Moscow began to be called the port of the five seas. The fact is that thanks to the new canal system, ships were able to sail from here to the Baltic, White, Azov, Black and Caspian seas.
According to the idea of the chief architect of the project, Alexey Rukhlyadev, the station complex was to become not just a transit point for arriving passengers, but also a place for recreation.
This idea was embodied in a picturesque park with an axial composition: its main alley is in the center, in which numerous paths converge. In 1999, the square received the status of a cultural heritage site of regional significance. The station itself was closed in 2010 due to its poor condition.
In 2017, the building was transferred to the ownership of the city, after which preparations began for its restoration. The work has been carried out since August 2018, and on City Day 2021, the Northern River Station opened its doors to the first visitors.
Those interested can sign up for a tour. They will be told about the history of the station and its particularly significant architectural elements.
The building houses the legendary Volga-Volga restaurant. There is a bike rental service near the main entrance from the park.
During the improvement of the territory, it was possible to preserve the historical layout as much as possible and at the same time update the already outdated infrastructure. One of the most interesting objects on the embankment was a stream about 400 meters long - a copy of the Moscow Canal with its locks. To simulate the movement of water, the mini-channel was equipped with the same pump system as the prototype has. A dry fountain (more than 110 square meters) was installed in front of the main square of the station. At night, the reservoirs are illuminated.
Using archival drawings and photographs, two more fountains were restored in the park. There are play areas for children here. The largest site (about 900 square meters) was built based on the movie “Volga-Volga”: in the center there was a multi-deck ship, stylized as the steamship “Sevruga”, with playful stuffing - ladders, elements for climbing and tunnels. A sand factory with a conveyor and an excavator, as well as a music area with a xylophone and aerophone, also appeared on the site. Moreover, the author of the project, Timofey Shafransky, planned to place a playground in this place.
Another play area was installed in the southern part of the park. There were six playgrounds ranging in size from 200 to 270 square meters with climbing frames, swings in the shape of animals, a train, a trampoline and an obstacle course.
Since the 1930s, it was planned to place a sports ground in the park, but it only appeared now. In the northern part of the park you can play streetball or ping-pong, work out on workout machines or play chess. You can also play floor chess in the south wing. There is also a hockey rink with an area of more than 1,150 square meters, where it is planned to hold regional and city hockey tournaments in the winter, and use it as a volleyball field in the summer. A multifunctional pavilion with changing rooms, a rental station and toilets appeared next to the skating rink.
Infrastructure and improvement
Park "Northern Tushino" is divided into 5 thematic zones. There is a memorial complex, an area with attractions, as well as many other thematic areas. Below is a list of the most popular ones.
Memorial Complex
One of them is a memorial complex dedicated to the history of the Russian Navy. The memorial is located in the southern part of the park and is a submarine in which the Museum of the Russian Submarine Fleet is located. There, visitors can get acquainted with exhibits reflecting the history and importance of maritime affairs, as well as listen to an entertaining excursion. Also near the submarine there are other exhibits - a landing ship and the Eaglet airplane. However, of all these exhibits, visitors only have the opportunity to visit the submarine. By the way, from the point where the memorial complex is located, there is a stunning view of the Northern River Station.

Attractions in the park "Northern Tushino"
For young visitors, the Severnoye Tushino park has numerous attractions. There is entertainment for guests of all ages - carousels, shooting ranges, swings and even extreme rides. There are about 20 of them in the park. Prices vary from 150 to 300 rubles depending on the chosen attraction. There are benefits and discounts for visitors of some social categories.

Summer and winter activities
Severnoye Tushino Park has a sports ground equipped with exercise equipment - here visitors can improve their physical skills. The park's sports facilities also include several grounds for sports games - volleyball, basketball and others. In addition, in the summer you can sunbathe in the Severnoye Tushino park - there is a sandy beach on the shore, equipped with changing cabins and showers. Also, for the comfort of visitors, sun loungers are equipped on the coast, which can be used absolutely free. According to visitors, you should still be careful near the shore - sometimes the river bottom can be dangerous.
For lovers of extreme entertainment, there is a cable above the river near the park, to which you can “catch on” and go water skiing. There are also small springboards installed here.
In winter, there is also something to do in Severnoye Tushino Park - there is an open-air skating rink, trails for skiers and sledding hills. Visitors consider the most important advantage of the park to be its environmental value - there is fresh air, untouched nature, stunning views and picturesque alleys. Photo sessions are held here quite often. In addition, river boat trips from the pier of the same name are available for visitors to the Severnoye Tushino park. The cost of this type of vacation varies from 200 to 400 rubles.

Improvement
Many visitors note the good location of the paths in the park - bicycle paths are separated from pedestrian paths in different colors so that the flows of visitors do not mix, and park guests can easily move along it. It is known that Severnoye Tushino Park is fully equipped with lighting devices - lanterns powered exclusively by solar batteries.
Other amenities
There are dry toilets throughout the park, which you can use absolutely free, and there is also a separate toilet located near the beach. Visitors also note that there are many benches in the park - in almost any area of the park you can sit down and relax.
For the comfort of visitors, Severnoye Tushino Park has several catering outlets - the Zharovnya and Robin Bo cafes. One of these establishments is located on the pier, that is, right above the water. This cafe also has a small swimming pool and a terrace where you can dine outdoors.

Severnoye Tushino Park is one of the youngest parks in the capital, created in 1992 on the site of a collective farm apple and pear orchard. The park stretches as a long green strip from the former village of Zakharkovo to the former village of Alyoshkino. The man-made Khimki Reservoir pleases visitors with coolness on hot days, and it is convenient to get to the park by public transport along Svobody Street.

The museum-memorial complex of the history of the Russian Navy was organized by decree of the Moscow Government in 2003 as the “Submarine Museum”. The diesel-electric submarine B-396 “Novosibirsk Komsomolets” of Project 641B “Som” became the first exhibit of the museum. The boat was built in 1980 in Gorky, served in the Northern Fleet, made trips to the Mediterranean Sea, performed tasks in the North and South Atlantic, off the west coast of Africa, in the Barents and Norwegian Seas.
After its decommissioning from the Navy in 1998, the boat was purchased by the capital's authorities as an exhibit of the future museum of the history of the Russian fleet and shipbuilding in Moscow. Initially it was planned to install it on the Kremlin embankment, then it was decided that the boat in the form of a monument would be installed on a four-meter pedestal in Gorky Park. As a result, a different decision was made.
At the base in Severodvinsk, the weapons were dismantled from the boat and the submarine was towed to the capital to the berths of Portkhladokombinat OJSC, and in 2006 it took its current place and opened to visitors. Much has been changed in the interior of the submarine. The biggest discrepancy with reality is the openings in the bulkheads between the compartments of the boat so that wheelchair users can visit this museum.
The submarine has fully preserved six torpedo tubes, as well as some mines and torpedoes. The central control station of the boat has been turned into an exhibition hall where visitors can get acquainted with the living conditions of the crew. In winter, the submarine's cabin is closed for inspection for safety reasons—the steps become icy.
The Moscow government continued to develop naval themes and added new exhibits. In August 2007, the Orlyonok ekranoplan and the Skat landing assault boat on an air cushion were delivered from Kaspiysk to Moscow, and at the end of the year they were installed next to the submarine.
A-90 "Orlyonok" - a small transport-landing ekranoplan ship of Project 904 type "Eaglet" was adopted by the USSR Navy in 1979. "Orlyonok" is designed to transport amphibious assault forces over a distance of up to 1,500 km; it takes off at wave heights of up to 2 meters and reaches a speed of 400-500 km/h. In total, five ekranoplanes of the "Eaglet" type were built at the shipyard.
The aerodynamic layout of the wing is optimized for flight using the ground effect, when air compression is formed under an aircraft flying at an altitude of several meters, increasing lift. Loading and unloading of people and equipment is carried out through the bow that tilts to the right. The device is capable of carrying on board up to 200 fully armed marines or two armored vehicles (tank, armored personnel carrier, infantry fighting vehicle). Thanks to the design design, the ekranoplan can freely overcome mines and protective net barriers simply by flying over them.
Project 1205 landing boats are hovercraft combat boats designed to land 40 troops on an unequipped coast. The first Skat boats went into production and entered combat duty in 1969.
A torpedo simulator, a manufactured towed antenna device “Paravan”, a retractable antenna “Synthesis”, an emergency buoy, a fragment of a retractable device MT-70 (periscope television head), a retractable device “Veil”, and a Hall anchor are also exhibited on the open museum site.
“Druzhny” is a Project 1135 patrol ship “Burevestnik”, which was included in the Baltic Fleet in 1975 and decommissioned in 2003. A group of private individuals bought the ship at the price of scrap, intending to use it as a museum and entertainment complex at the pier of St. Andrew's Bridge. In the fall of 2003, “Druzhny” reached Moscow, but something went wrong and the port of the “Portkhladokombinat” on the Khimki Reservoir became its anchorage.
The owners were never able to use or resell the bulky naval property, and in the spring of 2021, cutting up the rusting ship for scrap began. In April, the patrol boat was towed from Moscow for disposal.
Navy Day is celebrated in the park with stunt performances, public bathing and concerts.

According to the website https://mosparks.ru/, in 2013, the Severnoye Tushino park was reconstructed and divided into five recreation areas:
ECO Park is a relaxation zone. The northern zone of the park is designed for relaxation from the everyday hustle and bustle and urban rhythm of life. It is distinguished by unique natural landscapes and green spaces, creating the feeling of an island of untouched nature in the bustle of the metropolis.
Bodriy Park is an active recreation area. It houses volleyball and training grounds, a pump track for mountain bikes, tennis courts, table tennis tables, rental of skis, skates and bicycles, the Bodrost club and a workout section are open. In the waters of the Khimki Reservoir there is a wakeboard station consisting of a reversible and circular winch.
Dobry Park is a family recreation area. The central part contains attractions and playgrounds, a sandy beach on the shore, a food court and a concert stage. In winter, an ice skating rink is opened in the central square.
Zakharkovo Park - Fertility Zone This part of the park is named after the village of Zakharkovo, located on the shore of the Khimki Reservoir. In the 1950s, an apple orchard was planted here, which has survived to this day.
The Museum of the History of the Navy is an educational recreation area. There is a museum for all lovers of the history of the Russian fleet.
In the same 2013, other city parks joined the Severnoye Tushino Museum and Park Complex: Northern River Station, Friendship Park, Vorovsky Park, the Mayak oak grove, the Khimki River valley, an orchard along Nemansky Proezd and a forest along the street Maksimova. Thus, the total area of the Severnoye Tushino MPK is 218.4 hectares.
The improvement of “Northern Tushino” does not raise any questions: in some places the wild area has turned into a well-groomed space where each of the townspeople can find something useful for soul and body. But what is the point of uniting completely different territories under a single brand “Northern Parks” is not clear.

Recreation and entertainment
Decades ago, there was an apple and pear orchard on the coast of the Khimki Reservoir. Today this place is the site of the Northern Tushino Park, but pear and apple trees have survived in large numbers.
In spring, Severnoe Tushino Park is especially beautiful: apple trees are blooming, everything around is drowning in the most delicate pinkish-white clouds of flowering. Walking people take photographs for memory against the backdrop of young greenery and blossoming apple trees.
Severnoe Tushino Park also has a second attraction - a museum and memorial complex dedicated to the glorious history of the Russian naval forces. The memorial is located at the southern end of the park and anyone can visit it.
There is also a real submarine in which the Museum of the Russian Submarine Fleet is located. Near it there are rare exhibits: the Eaglet airplane and a small landing hovercraft.
The park is very successfully divided into several zones: attractions, walking paths, sports grounds, a place for barbecues, paths for cyclists, marked with yellow and red colors, so that the streams of vacationers collide as little as possible. Walking paths are paved with tiles, and there are benches everywhere.
Severnoe Tushino Park has many attractions for guests of all ages, many children's playgrounds and sports grounds. All playgrounds are completely different, each decorated in its own way, with different carousels and swings.
A pier has been built from which motor ships depart, taking passengers on an hour-long boat trip. In summer, there is a beach area on the shore of the reservoir: there is both a paid and free beach with changing cabins and sun loungers. There is a sports club on the embankment. A station has been opened where young people practice wakeboarding.
For active recreation in Northern Tushino there are tennis and volleyball courts, football fields, ping-pong tables, exercise equipment and gymnastic equipment. There are all kinds of rental companies for bicycles, Segways and velomobiles.
There is a sandy beach near the water and a grass beach with comfortable pergolas.
In winter, an open-air skating rink is specially built, cross-country skiing trails are built, and sledding hills are built. For hungry vacationers there is a restaurant on the water and several small cozy cafes.
On all significant holidays, folk festivals are held in the park, and famous artists are invited to concerts. There is a fairly large stage for them. Posters hanging at the entrance to the park tell you what concerts will take place in the near future. For greater comfort of vacationers, cafes are open in the park.
How to get there
Tushinsky Park can be reached by public transport. First you need to take the metro to the Skhodnenskaya station, and then take bus No. 199 and get to the Fomicheva Street stop. After this, you can get to the Severnoye Tushino park on foot, or go one stop on trolleybus No. 70, getting off near the supermarket. For the most comfortable trip, you can use local taxi services, for example, Yandex.Taxi or Uber.
