Foreign flower openings

Among the most significant events held abroad are the following:

  • Royal Flower and Landscape Show at Chelsea Hospital. The world history of this grandiose show goes back more than a hundred years. Queen Elizabeth herself pays an annual visit to the Chelsea Flower Show in late spring. Participants - high-class masters - compete for several titles. Most of all, viewers love to look at the competition parks - their traditional compositions of plants, trees, and stones were created by world-class landscape designers with the support of the show's sponsors. The exhibition sets the floral fashion for the coming season.
  • Bloemencorso festival in the Netherlands. The bright show traditionally takes place in April. Participants in the procession cover a long distance from one point to another. The procession is decorated with fancy floral compositions and decorative elements. The floral sculptures, which are created using millions of flowers, are eventually installed in the Keukenhof park. At the festival you can see costume shows, dances, and musical performances. Anyone has the right to participate in the creation of plant applications! Bloemencorso ends with fireworks and an illustrated show in Haarlem.

Bouquets with flowers and sculptures made from them at Bloemencorso are a unique example of the synthesis of the beauty of nature and human imagination

Fashionable flower exhibitions of the world

1. Chelsea Flower Show is one of the largest events in the world of landscape design and garden architecture. Every year the exhibition opens on the 20th of May in London and lasts only 5 days. The most famous florists, designers, and flower business owners from all over the world come here to announce their products and set fashion priorities in the flower industry.

The event has a long history dating back to 1826, when the Royal Horticultural Society held the first flower show in Kengsington.

And today, for the first two days, the exhibition is open exclusively for representatives of the Royal Family, and in the next 3 exhibition days, the exhibition is visited by about 157 thousand fans of floral art daily.

As part of the event, competitions are held among florists and designers, large-scale performances and master classes are organized. On the last day of the exhibition, visitors are invited to take part in a competition to design a garden plot.

Here you can purchase seedlings and seeds of rare plant species for your own garden, as well as the necessary specialized literature and, of course, receive invaluable advice on landscape design and growing rare plant species.

The exhibition is so large-scale that preparations for it last 18 months. One exhibition has not yet ended, but more than 800 designers and florists are already starting work on the next one.

2. The annual spring flower exhibition in Keukenhof Park (Netherlands, Lisse) can rightfully be considered the richest place in the world for tulips, because about 7 million legendary Dutch flowers are presented here annually. The exhibition opens in March and runs for only 6 weeks. Flowers are planted using a special technology in “layers” - from later to earlier varieties, so throughout the exhibition period, visitors can see vast and incredibly beautiful tulip fields.

As part of the exhibition, 30 flower shows are held annually, and about 500 of the best gardeners share the wisdom of growing flowers with visitors. You can also buy flower bulbs here. There are several pavilions in the park where you can enjoy the beauty of hyacinths, orchids and all kinds of flower arrangements from talented florists.

The first exhibition in Kekenkof Park took place in the mid-twentieth century, and the name of the park literally translates as “kitchen garden.” In the 15th century, here, on the grounds of the Kekenkof Palace, herbs and vegetables were grown for Countess Jacqueline of Bavaria.

The history of the tulip itself is no less interesting. During a period called “Tulipomania” in the mid-17th century, tulips were listed on stock exchanges, and traders of these flowers had enormous fortunes. The wealthiest brides were given tulip bulbs as a dowry, a few of which could buy a luxurious house in Amsterdam.

In the park you can rent a bicycle, take a boat ride along the canal, and even fly over the flower fields in an airplane.

3. The international flower exhibition Floralia Brussels takes place annually in the spring in the park on the grounds of the Groot-Bijgaarden castle near Brussels. More than 400 species of tulips alone, as well as daffodils, azaleas, rhododendrons, hyacinths, muscari, and roses are spread over 14 hectares of castle grounds.

There are several indoor pavilions and greenhouses on the exhibition grounds.

In total, here you can admire the blooming of 1 million spring bulbous flowers.

You will not see more varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas anywhere, since this is where the collection of flowers from the English Exbury Gardens, created by the Rothschild banking dynasty, is located.

The incredibly beautiful landscape of the architectural monument of the 14th-17th centuries, the Groot-Bijgaarden castle, complemented by divine blooms and fragrance, presents a truly magical sight in the spring.

4. San Francisco Flower & Garden Show is the largest annual spring flower and fine dining exhibition in North America. Professional gardeners, flower growers, florists and designers come to San Francisco to present their own and foreign innovations, exchange experiences, meet competitors and find new clients.

Up to 25 gardens of incredible beauty are being built especially for the exhibition, where everyone can admire the exotic plants and, of course, purchase them for their gardens and flower beds.

Also presented at the exhibition are agricultural equipment and machinery, fertilizers and soil softeners, products for landscape design, greenhouse structures, goods for home and recreation.

The aesthetics of this exhibition are complemented by stunning gastronomic shows, because as part of the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, culinary master classes are conducted by leading chefs of our time.

5. The international exhibition of horticultural art Floriade , unlike the annual exhibitions discussed above, takes place only once a decade. The last exhibition was held in 2012 in the province of Limburg, near the city of Venlo, which is located near the German border. But unlike the short-term spring exhibitions, Floriade runs until October.

This is not just an exhibition of landscape design - it is an amazing spectacle of aesthetics and beauty, in which dozens of different countries and cultures are involved. The motto of the exhibition is: “Become part of the theater of nature, get closer to a new quality of life!”

The exhibition area of 64 hectares is divided into five thematic zones, connected by wooded areas. The fantasy landscapes of the exhibition are formed by 5 thousand rose bushes, 190 thousand perennial plants, 1.8 million bulbous flowers and 30 thousand trees.

Floriade combines the beauty of nature, culture and entertainment. The exhibition includes concerts, literary and theatrical meetings, painting exhibitions, master classes, fascinating seminars about nature, and much more. etc.

Here at the flower fair you can buy rare types of flowers, fruits and vegetables, as well as taste dishes from seasonal plants from different nations of the world. And below is the Green City 2022 project.

Be sure that by combining your vacation with one of the flower exhibitions, in addition to practical benefits, you will receive a lot of positive emotions and incredible aesthetic pleasure.
