Terletsky Park is located in the east of Moscow, in the Ivanovo district. Local residents call the massif “Terletskaya oak grove” because in the southern part of the park there is a relict oak grove - some trees are more than three hundred years old.
Terletsky park for walks and relaxation near ponds in Moscow
The territory of Terletsky Park is limited by two perpendicular alleys planted with spreading maples, lindens and birches. Part of the forest park territory is a monument to landscape gardening art of the 18th century. The total area of this forest park area is more than 141 hectares.
History of creation
Where does the history of the park's name come from? “Terletsky” is a toponym that goes back to the surname of the dynasty of “serving nobles and merchants.” However, before becoming their patrimony, this area of the Eastern Administrative District was the settlement of some Meryan and Slavic tribes. And only in the 14th century. a village that 200 years later became Ivanovo. At that time it was still quite far from Moscow. It was nicknamed in honor of Ivan Rut (the one in whose honor the nearest city beyond the Moscow Ring Road was christened). Reut lived at the very beginning of the 16th century and was remembered by chroniclers as the “loudest” steward of Ivan the Terrible (“reut” in the then language means “screamer”). The “screamer” received this land for his faithful service. Afterwards, his descendants, the Reutov nobles, ruled here (their symbol is included in the Moscow armorial). During the Time of Troubles, the village was destroyed, but simultaneously with the accession of the Romanovs, it was restored again. It became part of the “Izmailovskaya Patrimony” of the kings (the Enthusiast Highway did not exist then, and the Terletsky groves formed a single whole with the Izmailovsky groves). Ivanovskoye was actively being developed, and the remaining forest in the middle of the next century went to the first representative of the Terletsky dynasty, Georgy. True, then they called him Torletsky. And, alas, nothing is known about him at all. How did the history of Terletsky Park develop in the future, under the descendants of this mysterious official? The shady tract between Novogireev, Ivanovsky, Perov and the Entuziastov Highway in the 18th century began to be decorated with masterpieces of landscape art. Gazebos and the first statues (more on them below). General Ivan Terletsky “invested” the most in the estate on the Serebryanka River (with money and soul). By the way, it was he who ordered the fashionable architect Staubert to build a one-story palace with a mezzanine. And an outbuilding. Everything is in the then fashionable Empire genre.
Ponds were dug on Serebryanka. Thanks to gardeners and small architects, pergolas, arches and even a fountain were born. The first rose gardens bloomed. The bosquets turned green. At the end of the 19th century. the park on the western outskirts of Ivanovskoye was skillfully reconstructed and became the cultural center of the Novogireevskoye and Ivanovskoye districts (already located near Moscow, but not yet Moscow). But under the general’s son, everything here was divided into rented dachas. The Vladimirsky tract remained in the middle of the tract, separating the Perovsky sector from the lake sector.
In 1917 the area was nationalized. The residential buildings of the estate became communal housing for some workers. The garden itself and the green strip surrounding it (“Terletsky Dachas”) were registered by the Mospriroda organization as part of Moscow. There were no attractions, but sports and children's playgrounds grew everywhere, and later electric lighting, sound speakers and a stage appeared. As well as such facilities as boat rental, beach (with lifeguard station) and stables. This recreation officially became a park of culture and recreation in 1972 (it was finally separated from Izmailovsky). From 1994 to 2000, the military-patriotic club “Victoria” was based in this location - in fact, a base for training activists (fighters) of the political party RNU.
And after 10 years, the state-protected natural monument “Terletskaya oak grove” stands out from the general massif. Several new infrastructure objects are also being added, among which is the entrance portal (and we will briefly talk about it below).
Park legend
Terletsky Park has given rise to several mystical stories based on historical realities. Here is one of them. At the end of the 19th century, the lands on which the park is located were purchased by Alexander Terletsky, a retired general who walked everywhere with a black dog. It was he who dug a cascade of ponds with artificial islands, and after the events of 1917 he disappeared without a trace. Since then, in the alleys of the park you can meet a silent old man with a black dog.
How much truth there is in this legend is difficult to judge. But no one will argue that Terletsky Park is beautiful and attractively mystical. It is especially good at sunset. The huge sun in crimson tones is trying to hide in the calm waters of the ponds, silence envelops everything around. The beauty of the landscape makes your soul feel calm and warm; it seems as if you are not in the real world. Some argue that this is what real heaven looks like.
Flora and fauna
A trip to Terletsky Park means enjoying the wonderful view of oaks, aspens, alders, birches and lindens. Part of the tree stand consists of willows and bright clumps of garden flowers. There are maples here and there. But its plantings are already artificial in origin. The remaining area of the forest belt, measuring 141 hectares, was occupied by lawns and topiary masterpieces. Ever since the “noble” stage in the park’s biography, the “green brothers” have been filling the air with oxygen. Many are 300 and even 500 years old! In later times, fancy arches and pergolas appeared. And the ornamental shrub grown during the Soviet years has now become a material for topiary specialists. Today there are many flower beds and round flower beds on the lawns and along the sidewalk! Terletsky Park, they say, also has mushrooms (if, of course, you come here in the fall - after a gentle rain). Here they collected chanterelles, milk mushrooms, "matryoshka dolls", russula, "white" and butterfish. We also saw boletuses.
There are some wild birds living in the forest. Waterfowl. The ducks of the ponds of the same name are mallards, goldeneyes, teal and tufted ducks. They are allowed to be fed. But don't offend. Animals and representatives of the pine forest avifauna are not visible. But hanging and ground feeders are placed everywhere. This suggests that they are still available. Just hedgehogs, rodents, white hare and brown hare, as well as squirrels slyly watch the photo shoot from a bright thicket. Or from a fragrant bush. But the Muskrats busy with work are already out of the pond. However, there are animals prepared for display. Rabbits, goats, domestic birds and horses are eagerly awaiting you at the petting farm. The impromptu zoo belongs to an association of young eco enthusiasts. Riders take care of more than just their horses...
Infrastructure
Information for motorists - free parking is available on the side of Svobodny Prospekt (45-50 parking spaces guaranteed) and Metallurgov Street (35). There are barbecue areas marked here and there. But bring your own barbecue equipment. The residential part of the Ivanovskoye district is slightly elevated above the park. It has a view.
All landscape solutions
The entrance group of the object has a brand in the form of two wooden varnished turrets stylized as Ancient Rus'. Between them curls a narrow banner - a sign. At the opposite entrance, the “Old Russian” gate awaits guests. A walk in Terletsky Park will amaze you with the wonderful outlines of lanterns, benches, and small architectural forms. There are enough garbage disposals here. There is also one bathroom. The rather wide central path diverges at a “fork”. 16 others begin from it, intersecting in a thicket in a chaotic manner. But the embankments around the Eastern and Western ponds are paved with square paving slabs. As well as the Central Alley (cutting through the idyllic massif in the very center). Sometimes dense bushes obscure further views. But soon “bald patches” appear here and there. The landscape at the farthest end reveals the bright headquarters of the Special Motorized Regiment of the National Guard. And then the panorama diversifies with views of the roadway of Svobodny Prospekt (specifically on).
Many tourists say that “everywhere is very clean.” Special thanks to the hardworking janitors from the regions and several CIS countries (people work not out of fear, but conscientiously). Finally, it is necessary to emphasize the fact of the presence of a Scene. People often dance on it (after all, music flows from speakers mounted on poles until late in the evening). And some enthusiasts have recently been conducting guitar lessons. Bards often sing about Terletsky Park itself. After all, his biography gave rise to enough mystical stories. About the disappearance of General Ivan Terletsky and the bloody robbery on the Vladimir highway...
Active recreation for guests
The “physical culture and health” infrastructure of Terletsky Park is designed primarily for runners, Nordic walking enthusiasts, beginner trekkers, as well as fans of “rides” (cyclists, roller skaters and hoverboarders). Here it should be noted right away that it is possible to switch to “wheels” – rentals are available. The corner is equipped with markings. People who are passionate about oriental practices use the clearings to practice yoga, spreading mats directly on the fragrant, manicured lawns. For those who want to keep their muscles in shape every day, there are outdoor exercise machines and a horizontal bar. As for dirt trails, they are often used as tracks in orienteering competitions throughout the entire administrative district. And sometimes as routes for some tasks as part of school physical education lessons. In addition, knowing the work schedule of Terletsky Park, anyone can use the services of the sports complex. And here it consists of football, basketball and volleyball fields. And an indoor gym. The pavilion for art connoisseurs of Gary Kasparov is called “Chess House”.
Fishing on this well-kept land is also sporty - there are comfortable platforms on the edge of the man-made reservoir indicated above. And they protrude slightly into the water area. It is recommended to use the artificial pool for boat rides (the rowing craft itself will be provided to you for rent). Take yourself and your whole family for a ride.
And further. You can take riding lessons at PKiO - contact the Horse Yard club. The stable is located on the southernmost site of the said natural arboretum. This tiny Moscow region will serve as a place for cavalry adventures for you.
Ponds, remains of the estate and sculptures
The design concept of the designated leisure center used the largest Terletsky pond (Kupalny) as the dominant feature of the entire landscape. Its size is 430 by 130 meters. Shape in the form of a donkey. There is an island inside. And at the opposite end of it is a blot-shaped dam. It separates the chamber of the water mirror in which a fountain splashing in summer is installed. Of course, there is a bridge here. The project, as you know, was created back in the tsarist era. Part of the pleasant sandy shore is used as a beach. Doctors declared the reservoir clean and you can safely splash around in it. The rescue station will not allow any of the beachgoers to disappear into the kingdom of Neptune. And the depth, however, is small. There are four other (small) water bowls. No less popular. Alder, Eastern (both also with islands), Western and, finally, the smallest - Utinaya. Some of the thickets come quite close, and the willows lower their branches into the water. All these pools (and the old landscape park) lie on a tributary of the Serebryanka, the Chernaya River. Most of all, the trails closest to the water are loved by elderly people, mothers with strollers and “dog lovers”.
Terletsky Park can boast of a former noble territory, the history of which has already been touched upon in the first section of our review. What remains of the estate today? Around the pond, you will catch in the frame of your camera the milestones of the now disappeared Vladimirsky Highway and a piece of the foundation of one of the ancient buildings. Among the local greenery you will also find reconstruction gazebos and an “empire” balustrade restored in some places. An inquisitive observer will notice a stand with information among the dense crowns.
PKiO has a sufficient number of sculptural works (some of which were commissioned by the owners of the estate in question). At the site of the former estate, travelers will see a pair of “antique” figures. In the eastern half you can see the works of the artist Salavat Shcherbakov - the Cross on Vladimirka (tree) and the bronze Coachman. The coachman carried ordinary passengers to Vladimir, but the mounted guards led the prisoners on foot. To Vladimir Central. And this was called “going through the stages.”
Joy for the little ones
Terletsky Park is designed in such a way that even the youngest visitors never get bored. The children's playground and the 2nd, modest play area are located near the southwest corner and near one of the reservoirs. Children have access to a sandbox, climbing frames, spinners, a slide tower, three swings, as well as several educational complexes. The spaces for children are fenced with a net. There are also benches for parent observers. It only remains to add that under the little ones’ feet there is a modern soft flooring.
Catering and nearby guest service
Terletsky Park (like all inner areas of the capital) is quite hospitable. In these “green lungs” of Moscow you can eat deliciously and even live. More about this.
On the park territory itself (near the Bathing Pond fountain), the Night Yard restaurant awaits hungry vacationers. Entrance to the establishment is only from Svobodny Prospekt - it is fenced off. Kebabs, lamb ribs and 16 types of grilled fish are the main highlight of the tavern. The menu also includes cold cuts (including boiled tongue), chopped shawarma, lavash and chicken breast rolls with vegetables, beef tenderloin carpaccio and 4 more dishes involving meat. Side dishes include boiled potatoes (fried with dill and onions), French fries, fresh vegetables and pickles (including asparagus, beloved by many). As well as a variety of greens, spaghetti, baked mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The list includes 25 salads (there are even warm ones!), several “Transcaucasian” items, as well as the “king of the southern French table” - bouillabaisse soup. It competes with Russian borscht and Caucasian kharcho. And we haven’t talked about desserts, drinks and alcohol yet... Cultural program - show.
Right on Metallurgov Street (on the other side, near the walls of the hospital town or in front of the “Chinese Wall”), the Khinkalnaya bistro is accessible to pedestrians. His name already tells us about the main dish here and that the cafe “professes” Georgian cuisine. That is, in addition to juicy khinkali, you have the right to order quick Adjarian-style khachapuri or “instant” kutapi. The price list also includes shish kebab, sliced cheeses, pasties, a mixture of fresh vegetables and two salads. The masterpieces of wine production and cognac alcohol are notable. And beer lovers are treated to Amstel. The oak interior hints to the guest about the decoration appropriate for the banquet situation. Portions, according to reviews, are large. And in the evenings at this point in Terletsky Park you will listen to live music.
An overnight stay is possible. Check into the brand new Artem-Room apartments. In terms of class it is a very good “Standard”, and in terms of interior style it is “Apartment classic of the 90s”. The described shelter is located on 9th Avenue Novogireevo, near the house with the Forest bar.
Natural monuments
Officially, the object was created in 1972, but the real age of this unique natural area is much older. The oldest oak trees in Moscow grow on the territory of Terletsky Park - they are more than three hundred years old. And some relict trees, according to some estimates, are five hundred years old.
Experts are still arguing about their appearance in this place. Some believe that the relics were planted by one of the representatives of the royal family of Rurikovich.
Others are of the opinion that these trees have a natural origin, and the oak grove grew on its own in the old days - these are the remnants of an ancient forest that covered the Central Russian Upland at a time when there was no city here yet. People consider these places to be the ancestral home of all the goblin from Russian forests.
The composition of the park is based on two alleys of deciduous trees, perpendicular in location to each other. One of them is nothing more than part of the notorious Vladimirsky tract, which in ancient times became famous for its bloody robberies.
In the forest park, among birches, lindens, maples and black alders, there are a large number of clearings and various recreation areas located in disarray.
Particularly picturesque are Terletsky ponds , which are represented by several reservoirs created in different historical periods. There are five of them in total, and they all differ significantly in biological parameters.
The smallest and cleanest pond, located in the western part of the park, is of greatest value to nature. Its area is only 0.7 hectares, and the coastline on the southern side smoothly turns into a low-lying swamp.
The reservoir has become a haven for a huge number of aquatic and coastal species of plants and animals. These places are chosen for breeding by seven species of fish, five species of amphibians, and several species of birds.
Two more reservoirs, Western and Eastern ponds, are also quite clean. Their area is two hectares, and the banks are concreted. Therefore, there is less coastal vegetation here.
The largest ponds are Olkhovy and Kupalny. Their areas are 3 and 2.3 hectares, respectively, they are located in the floodplain of the Black Stream, the sources of which lie in the residential area of the capital.
In 2014, a mini-zoo with forest animals was opened in the Terletskaya oak grove. In the small yard you can pet and feed goats and rabbits.
There is also a stable and an arena. Equestrian trainers offer individual lessons for children and adults. The entrance to the mini-zoo is located closer to the street. Metallurgov opposite house No. 60.
How to get there, prices and opening hours
Terletsky Park is surrounded by four strategic transport arteries. On the Enthusiasts Highway there are stops “House of Veterans of the Scene” and “Turn to Svobodny Prospekt” (buses and electric buses No. 20, 214 and 702; minibuses No. 101k and 1214k). On Svobodny Prospekt there are stops “Sayanskaya Street” and “Terletsky Park” (buses No. 276, 449, 505, 617, 645, 884 and 974; minibuses No. 473k, 587k, 886k, 1132 and 1209k; trolleybuses No. 64 and 75). By the way, information for those who travel by car. Not far from the avenue there is the Moscow Ring Road (exit from Sayanskaya Street). There are no public transport points on Terletsky Proezd. But a little southwest you will find the Perovo metro station on the yellow line (if you arrived at it, then walk along Zeleny Prospekt and Martenovskaya Street). It remains to talk about the passage on Metallurgov Street. Only bus 620 goes along it (get off at Martenovskaya Street - you will find yourself at the park’s ski base). The closest railway platform is Novogireevo (Pavlovo-Posad direction). However, the nearest station is Kursky (from here you can only go by metro). From Zhukovsky airport they head first along the Tupolev Highway, then along the M-5, which turns into the Novoryazanskoye Highway. The last of these highways will lead motorists to the Moscow Ring Road. And it, as you already know, has a connection to the Entuziastov Highway. This is already in the Ivanovskoye area...

The hours of the restaurant mentioned above are already indicated in its name (that is, the party is planned until the morning). “Khinkalnaya” operates until late.
Terletsky Park in winter
In winter, you will remember your holiday in Terletsky Park with a Christmas tree decorated with toys (like the pillars in the alleys, it will be crowned with festive illumination) and an animation program for children and adults (within its framework, on December 31, the arrival of Father Frost and the Snow Maiden is expected). The dense aspen forest holds snow well. Even in the cold season, kites and drones are flown in this area. By the way, one of the sports fields miraculously turns into a skating rink (skates are available for rental). What else? If you want, come on skis (ski tracks are always laid here). There is a base on the south side where you can rent skis. From home - a sled (the slide on the playground is already ready for the arrival of noisy and frisky guests). The descent is suitable. When you get cold, hot tea and coffee awaits you at Khinkalnaya. And at a distance the “concert” of the “Night Courtyard” will be noisy. Information for the ardent Orthodox: one of the ponds at Epiphany, thanks to traditional equipment, tea and a changing tent, becomes a comfortable font. It is clear that the usually loud Estrada will not be silent even in severe frost. We sing songs from the Soviet era, move to their rhythm, jump, smile...
Recreation in Terletsky Park is not unique. However, it is comfortable due to several circumstances. In its emerald space, visitors can actually see a special Moscow - quiet, clean, cozy, and saturated with flowers in summer. Everything is “at hand” here. This means children's leisure time, overnight accommodation, a place for jogging and training, and memorable cultural heritage sites. Don't forget about a few extras in terms of design know-how. “Terletsky” is surrounded on 3 sides by objects that you can’t help but pay attention to when you find yourself in Zlatoglavaya. These are the beauties of Sloboda (in Perovo), the Museum of Russian Popular Prints (in Novogireevo) and the People's Park (already in Ivanovsky)!
