Fresh top from Charapedia: 20 tsunderes for every taste

«The heart of beauties is prone to treason And to change Like the wind of May»
— Verdi, “Rigoletto”
« But Nikolai Sergeich, not only now, but even before, in the happiest times, was somehow uncommunicative with his Anna Andreevna, even sometimes stern, especially in public. In other natures, tenderly and subtly feeling, sometimes there is some kind of stubbornness, some kind of chaste reluctance to speak out and show even to a dear creature their tenderness, not only in public, but even in private; alone even more; Only occasionally does a caress break through, and it breaks out the hotter, the more impetuously, the longer it has been restrained. »
— Dostoevsky, “Humiliated and Insulted”
« Having brought the koto “so” towards him, Genji tuned it and invited the lady to play, but she did not even touch the strings, obviously dissatisfied that that person from Akashi turned out to be more skillful than her. The lady had an unusually meek, peace-loving disposition, and such sudden outbursts of jealousy did not at all detract from her attractiveness, rather the opposite. »
— 1000 years before anime

Tsundere

(moon. ツンデレ, from tsun-tsun (moon. ツンツン) and dere-dere (moon. デレデレ)) is an archetype of Japanese pop culture.
The essence of a tsundere comes down to changing one's attitude from arrogant, irritable and boorish ( tsun-tsun
) to sentimental and loving (
dere-dere
) in a short period of time, a few minutes. In particularly advanced cases, the tsundere switches from tsun-tsun to dere-dere and vice versa several times per second, thus producing vibrations in the psychomental field that easily destroy the mood of the target audience.

Additions (briefly)[edit]

  • Boudere: quick-witted. The same Tsundere, but if Tsundere constantly tsundits, then Budere is more likely to be characterized by explosions followed by repentance.
  • Darudere: distant. He doesn’t recognize or even get close to her for various reasons. May be considered a subspecies of Kudere.
  • Hadzidere: Dandere at maximum speed.
  • Utsudere: beaten. I went through serious problems and traumas and closed myself off.
  • Sadodere: sadist. Nuff said.
  • Hinedere: bitch. Almost like Himeder
, but he may not have the crowned manners and desires.
  • Ozidere: major. Male version of Himedere.
  • Undere: weak-willed. You can call it dadere from the word “yes”. He says “yes” to all requests.
  • Mayadere: turned. Previously she was an antagonist. Although this is only indirectly connected with the psychotype.
  • Nyandere: cat. NYA!

Himedere[edit]

From the Japanese "Hime" (Japanese 姫) - "princess". Very similar to the previous example, but here the patient’s clinical picture changes to positioning himself as a representative of the upper class. Balls, beauties, lackeys, cadets, high-society intellectual conversations, impeccable manners, the concept of true honor, which some lion-footed untermenschs care about like the moon (however, they can easily be flogged in the stable and hanged on the nearest tree) ... in short, everything is like from "white people". We think you have already guessed that many parvenu characters like to behave this way, having no actual relationship with the aristocracy, but going out of their way to touch the offspring of the nobility. And, what is no less characteristic, many recognize in them an almost authentic “white bone and blue blood”, since the Himedere know the principle of “claim, match” very well. The reasons are quite banal: dissatisfaction with forced existence among the common people and hostility/indifference on their part makes the himedere character think that a rich, noble person with a pedigree going back to hoary antiquity and deeply respected by everyone by right of birth will certainly be loved.

Examplesedit

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc: Celestia Ludenberg. An emphatically polite, mannered and intelligent bourgeois with high self-esteem, next to which is sarcasticity and barely restrained nervous breakdowns at moments of extreme dissatisfaction with others. And so - incredibly impeccable taste, love of art (goth, after all) and tea ceremonies, grace and sophistication. And very frequent attempts to pass off “boyar language” in everyday speech. She secretly dreams of moving to a fairytale castle and living there, surrounded by a retinue of lovely bishounens who pretend to be vampires. In reality, he wants nothing more than sincere love and care (which he carefully hides behind his skyward-looking ChSV), because having just, ahem, a cat as a loving family member is such a pleasure.

Kamidere[edit]

From the Japanese "Kami" (Japanese 神) - "deity". Quite an interesting type of person with high self-esteem and, often, a god complex

Also attached to this healthy bouquet are Napoleonic plans (a dizzying career, the reconstruction of society and even the world order) and awareness of their enormous personal importance. The interesting thing is that this trait of their personality is able to coexist along with a touching attachment to their adored people, for the sake of whom, in principle, the Kamidere characters are going to take the place of creators in order to have fun

Sometimes it can overlap with Tsundere, Kudere and Yandere.

Examplesedit

  • Code Geass: Lelouch fucking Lamperouge. The most epic kamidere of all time (though overlapping with yandere). I am confident in my own chosenness and almost divine destiny as the arbiter of destinies and the winner in the struggle against the British Empire (even when I had neither the strength nor the means for this). Alas, he slipped into Machiavellianism quite quickly. But even so, turning half the world over for the sake of the happiness of a paralyzed sister is worthy of respect.
  • Death Note: Yagami Light - despite the similarity with the previous example, the most monstrous kamidere (“dere” here is a matter of grams) and a vivid example of the fact that it is “the road to Hell that is paved with good intentions.” He did not slip into Machiavellianism and social Darwinism, he lived in them, enjoyed them, realizing that he deserved more than just being the best student in Japan. Alas, it ended badly.
  • Miu Iruma from Danganronpa V3. Although she looks like a tsundere, her habits are still more like those of a kamidere (“If I lose motivation because of you, the planetary scale will be shaken! Apologize to the whole world!”). The reason is banal sociopathy.
  • Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Reinhard von Lohengramm! A military leader with imperial ambitions. He loves his sister and best (and only) friend Siegfried Kircheis more than life itself (no, not like that). Actually, partly for the sake of his sister, he wants to conquer the galaxy.
  • Outside of anime - Mary "Lady Perfect" Poppins! Apart from Napoleonic plans, everything is in place. (Performed by Andreichenko from the Soviet film adaptation - with special emphasis on “dere”.)

Dandere - who is this in the anime?

Representatives of this type are also silent and withdrawn, but not because they are emotionless. On the contrary, dandere are overwhelmed by feelings, but such heroes are overly shy. They are often simply ashamed of their feelings and try to hide them. Dandere may avoid the company of other people, preferring books to communication. People often trust their innermost thoughts to a diary.

Dandere are often economical girls. Due to shyness, they experience great difficulties in communicating, especially with the opposite sex. Typical representatives: Hyuuga Hinata (“Naruto”), Shiomiya Shiori (“The World God Only Knows”), Onodera Kosaki (“Fake Love”).

Kudere - who is this character?

If the tsundere sister is too harsh, then the kudere, on the contrary, is closed, silent, cold, phlegmatic, and reserved. She does not demonstrate her emotions and completely controls them, often avoids communication, prefers solitude. Kudere often spends a lot of time reading books and is distinguished by his intelligence, logical thinking, and objectivity.

Over time, the kudere reveals itself to its lover and close friends. Typical representatives: Nagato Yuki (“The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”), Ayanami Rei (“Evangelion”), Misaki Mei (“Another”).

Subtypes

Tsundere is one of the six main character archetypes, but not all heroes fit into a strict classification. Characters who are in many ways reminiscent of a tsundere, but who deviate significantly from the canon, are assigned to subtypes, which can number up to ten. Let's look at some of them.

Tsunaho (tsundoji, tsunbaka) is a character who tries to look cold and reserved, but due to his natural absent-mindedness and clumsiness it turns out poorly. Tsunaho often looks stupid and gets into ridiculous situations.

Tsuntere is a softer, shy version (here the second part of the word is derived from “tereru” - shy). Natural modesty prevents the character from looking openly cold and arrogant, and the object of warm feelings can easily embarrass him.

Tsundora is the most cold, unemotional character, and it is difficult to awaken his soft side. A good example is Senjougahara from A History of Monsters.

Tsungire – here the ending is formed from the word “kireru”, which means short circuit. Such a hero is seemingly indifferent, but he gradually accumulates emotions within himself, which over time can lead to a real explosion.

Tsongshun is a character in whom a surge of negative emotions is replaced not by a manifestation of gentleness, but by depression.

[edit] In general...

Everything is much more complicated. A female tsundere character is properly called a tsunderekko

(moon. ツンデレっ娘), but in everyday life it is shortened to tsundere.
That is, not only female characters can be like this. A tsundere is just a summary vector/zero reference point, describing from four to ten similar and at the same time completely different characters. Sebastian dots the dots...
It looks something like this:

ツンアホ <= ツンテレ <= ツンデレ <= ツンドラ <= ツンギレ
Tsunaho <= Tsuntere <= Tsundere <= Tsundora <= Tsungire
  • Tsunaho
    - aka
    tsunbaka
    , aka
    tsundoji
. In short - a Tunguska fool. Even if she tries to be cold with you, she does it like a fool. Either she is clumsy and stumbles all the time, or her things are scattered, or some other misfortune. Therefore, in the end she is unable to pretend to be the Snow Queen. In fact, she attaches great importance to your opinion and tries to present herself in a favorable light, but she does not succeed very well.
  • Tsuntere
    is not a repeated
    tsun-de
    , but a very shy
    tere
    from
    tereru
(“to be shy”). If you're on "" terms with her, then she's cold to you, just like a tsundere, but her shyness doesn't allow her to be completely cold. In addition, she gives herself away by constantly blushing, looking at the guy she likes.
  • Tsundere
    - actually described in this article.
  • Tsundora
(also known as tundra) - most clearly depicted in Bakemonogatari. A term to describe Senjougahara's character, which roughly translates to "cold bitch". That's what Akiyuki Shinbo said in pure Russian or... OH SHI~
  • Tsungire
    -
    gire
    comes from
    kireru
(short circuit, meaning a state of mind such as “jammed/short circuit”).
If she is cold towards you, and you are not in a hurry to find out why this is such an attitude, then this can lead her to a nervous breakdown with unpredictable consequences. Hurry to find out the reason from her, despite the difficulties. Before it's too late, find out her dere
-side. Don't leave her alone. Akiha is typical.

general information

The tsundere is one of the most common character archetypes in modern anime. Almost no film or TV series is complete without a girl or guy of this type of character, and most often in one of the central roles. Typically, a tsundere is a young girl with a boyish figure. But the basis of the archetype lies not in appearance, but in character.

The name tsundere itself is a combination of two words: “tsuntsun”, which means prickly, withdrawn, indifferent, and “deredere” - gentle, yearning for love. It is in the combination of these opposing properties that the character’s character consists.

Outwardly, a tsundere appears arrogant, cold, rude, and irritable. This is an independent and completely independent person who can behave quite harshly with others.

But in relation to her lover or friend, another, soft side of the heroine appears. The tsundere tries to hide his feelings, often under the guise of anger, but as the love affair develops, he begins to show “deredere” more and more often, realizing and accepting his own emotions.

Characters of this type are characterized by frequent mood changes, literally every second in critical situations. Typical representatives: Aisaka Taiga (“Toradora”), Shana (“Fire-Eyed Shana”), Sanzenin Nagi (“Hayate, the Combat Butler”).

What should be understood by the term "tsundere"?

A tsundere is an archetype of an animated film hero, whose character, like his behavior, is initially distinguished by his indifferent attitude towards other characters. As the plot twists and turns unfold, the tsundere's personality gradually changes, and the protagonist turns into a lovesick one.

The concept originally originated in Japanese video games. However, gradually the word began to be used not only in animation, but also in everyday life. This concept began to be understood as the phenomenon of attraction between individuals with opposite characters and goals. Gradually, the term reached anime and other multimedia projects. In particular, tsundere hentai has become especially popular in Japan. The term then made its way into literary works, television, and even the media.

Yandere

Yanderes tend to have a cute appearance, are cheerful and friendly with others, but can be very shy. All these good qualities allow them to quickly become friends with a love interest. But don't let their appearance deceive you.

Yandere characters are possessive and control freaks. They are ready to kill for the sake of their chosen one or isolate him from society. And, of course, they show an unhealthy reaction to rejection (which, however, happens in 90% of cases).

Typical examples: Anna Nishikinomiya (A Boring World Where the Very Idea of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai), Lindo Tachibana (Dance with Devils)

Moe - what kind of character is this in anime?

If tsunderes are most often lively and active girls, then moe characters are more associated with the word “kawaii” than others. They are incredibly sweet, charming and innocent, have an attractive appearance, are shy, and naive.

What makes them especially attractive is their clumsiness and awkwardness. They are often incapable of physical activity and have a timid and indecisive character. Nevertheless, the purity and naivety of moe are so attractive that everyone around them strives to take them under their protection.

Typical representatives: Asahina Mikuru (“The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”), Takara Miyuki (“Lucky Star”), Towa Erio (“Radio Signal from the Weird Girl”).

Tsundere (Type A)

The Tsundere is probably the most popular archetype on this list. Such characters constantly switch between their states of “tsun” (rudeness) and “dere” (falling in love, tenderness). They often say “baka” for no reason and try to hide their good deeds behind a rude disposition. It is useful to divide tsunderes into two types.

The first type is more consistent with the word "tsun". Such characters tend to verbally and physically insult the object of their affection, and are embarrassed when they are praised.

Typical examples: Taiga Aisaka (Toradora! Toradora!), Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière (Louise-Zero's Henchman Zero no Tsukaima), Chitoge Kirisaki (Nisekoi's Fake Love)

Dandere

Quiet, shy and harmless. Dandere characters often wear glasses and are interested in books. However, their personality can change dramatically when a love interest is around.

Typical examples: Shiori Shinomiya (Sakura Quest), Urara Shiraishi (Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo), Kosaki Onodera (Nisekoi)

Classic tsundere character archetype

In ancient Japanese folklore, characters were often used who, when they first appeared, acted as antagonists in relation to the main characters of the work, especially heroes of the opposite sex. An example is ancient theatrical performances, where some archetypes behaved in a neutral-hostile manner. Their character showed special restraint and indifference, along with pronounced causticism in their dialogues. However, as the plot unfolded, the relationships between the characters gradually changed. Therefore, in the finale of the work, the tsundere character and the main character were practically inseparable.

In classical Japanese folklore, a tsundere is a hero whose character is revealed in only one direction, starting with some hostility, detachment and ending with teaming up with one or more characters in the finale.

With the development of animation and the promotion of Eastern culture to the masses, such limited and predictable heroes began to bore fans of such creativity. Therefore, modern animators are trying to change classical archetypes and reveal the character of such characters in a variety of combinations.

Who are the tsunderes today? Currently, these are quite “flexible” animated characters that are able to move from a state of detachment to full involvement in action and reveal their character in the opposite direction. Nowadays, these are the heroes that are meant by this concept.

[edit] Male tsunderes

Basically the same eggs, only with a dick. In 90% of cases, they are the main characters, gripped by a manic thirst for pursuing their goals: self-improvement and reaching the top. They are so purposeful and absorbed in what they love that they practically do not notice the female characters around them, and this, it should be noted, attracts girls like a magnet, not only in Japanese porn cartoons, but also in IRL. However, at some point, one or another harem woman still pins him in a corner, and the male tsundere panics - he tries with all his might to free himself and escape. Other male tsunderes would rather just lie to themselves that they don’t like this or that girl, try to distance themselves from her, for example by voluntarily placing themselves in the Friend Zone, rather than only causing themselves unnecessary pain. They give themselves away when they begin to be actively jealous, if competing fuckers begin to hover around the object of their adoration. Taking into account the target audience, it is highly likely that such characters will act as the main romantic interest in shojo, competing in this only with the no less hackneyed Prince on a White Horse.

Yeah, these guys are:

  • Rumplestiltskin from Once Upon a Time
  • Chiaki Shinichi from Nodame Cantabile
  • Okabe Rintaro from Steins;Gate
  • Sagara Sousuke from FMP
  • Inuyasha from the manga/anime of the same name
  • Hitachin Hikaru from Ouran High School Host Club
  • Gray Fullbuster from Fairy Tail
  • Alexander Nikolaevich Hell from Adept of the Holy Sign
  • Any OYAS who is harassed by a preoccupied and obsessive girl.

[edit] The essence

デレ
Another translation of “deredere” is sentimental
, so one should not assume that dandere is dandere only in the immediate presence of a beloved kun. The condition will be met, all you need to do is be shy and sentimental.

Four archetype pillars of hand-drawn chan

At first glance, the difference between dandere and kudere is not particularly visible, but it is: if the kudere character feels quite comfortable, occasionally radiating outward signs of his sympathy, then dandere would like to demonstrate them in the full power of his warm nature, but the wall in the form strong embarrassment or even fear constantly interferes with her. There are other differences between dandere and kudere, but this one - pathological shyness - will help to unmistakably distinguish them.

In foreign internets it is also customary to add the characteristic “anti-social”, and in ours it is thoughtlessly and clumsily translated, but this attribute is not always present, not all Dandere characters are antisocial - although, of course, everyone has some form of social phobia. Most of them have a calm, friendly and responsive character, which changes dramatically only when “the one” appears on the horizon to selective or generalized facial hyperemia, inability to articulate speech and the creation of dense barriers of a psychological nature both on their own - those very hands-in- padlock

- and using available means: glasses, books, mugs and the like. Among his own people, he is a completely normal, moderately sociable person. However, you should not think that this character cannot be angered - it is possible, and how. And the explosion can be even stronger than that of a tsundere thanks to the emotions carefully accumulated inside.

Often, danderei is given hair of soft colors: light brown, light black, dark red, pale red tones, and shades of blue - one of the main reasons for confusion with kuudere. Also, the kuudere faces are made primarily in the style of a poker face; Dandere's eyes are wider, and the mouth is not so narrow, with the corners up, and there will be more different reactions.

Thanks to their “lamp” characteristics and the absence of the need to endure the assholes of tsunderes and melt the coldness of curlers, they hold the palm as an object of emotional fap for hikkars, beatards and other nolifers.

Kanedere[edit]

From the word 金 (kane) - “money”. Kanedere are accustomed to considering themselves better than others only because they are the offspring of a rich family. They tend to be spoiled and proud, but can display traits of any of the above archetypes. They often suffer from lack of attention from overly busy parents, but they can have a family-like relationship with the maid/butler assigned to them. In love they often behave badly, because possessive habits make themselves felt, but they become excellent friends. Actually, “dereization” often manifests itself in the fact that they begin to evaluate people (including themselves) not by the size of their bank account, but by personal qualities/abilities, i.e. they build relationships not so much with OYASh, but with the world of mere mortals .

For some reason, most often blondes.

Examplesedit

  • Ichiko from Binbougami ga! (for her, it is not wealth that plays a greater role, but supernatural luck; although wealth is naturally attached to luck).
  • Murasaki from Kurenai (the case is complicated by the fact that she lived in the family estate in complete isolation from the outside world). The only brunette on this list - the authors had to go for it, because she is the scion of an ancient and very traditional Japanese family.
  • Cheryl from Nanatsu no Umi no Chiko.
  • Scarlett from Steamboy.
  • Yurika from Chocotto Sister.
  • Julia from Daddy Long Legs.
  • Naga from Hayate no Gotoku!.
  • Aoyama Mio from Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (the case is complicated by the fact that).
  • Howard from Mujin Wakusei Survive (a rare example of a male representative).
  • Pacifica Northwest from Gravity Falls. Yes, not anime, but, by God, how suitable it is!
  • RWBY - Weiss Schnee himself. At the beginning she is shown as a spoiled heiress of a large corporation - at the end she is ready to follow her friends through thick and thin. And yes, blond curls are included.
  • Mint Aizawa from Tokyo Mew Mew.
  • My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Diamond Tiara.
  • "Lady Bug and Cat Noir" - Chloe Bourgeois.
  • Shoujo Kakumei Utena - Nanami Kiryuu. Also blonde in yellow.

[edit] Character traits

Hurricanes have one interesting feature: their center is always calm. This hurricane is exactly what yandere is. For those who are close to the yandere, she is practically safe and may even seem like a completely normal girl. However, everyone else can easily be hit by a roof flying in a hurricane when trying to get closer. Of course, trying to first get close to a yandere and then move on to another one will have the same effect. Yanderes start out as normal and even cute characters, but at some point they become wedged, and their behavior radically changes to cruel and dangerous, and sometimes hysteria is not enough, and yanderes reach for knives, katanas, daggers, machetes, boxcutters and other dangerous objects .

Archetype Subtypes

Yandere is madly in love, behaves ideally towards her lover, is ready to make any sacrifices for him and endure anything for the sake of him and their relationship, kill a couple of everyday girlfriends crossing the road or protect him with her body.

Yangire is a subspecies of yandere with mental disabilities. They are cute on the outside, but cruel and crazy on the inside. Unlike yanderes, they do not need a special reason in the form of love to massacre. These are characters suffering from psychosis, but not always inclined to kill others (some, for example, closed in on themselves and later tried to commit suicide).

Yandere - who is this character?

Tsundere and yandere are significantly different, despite the similarity in name. Yandere-type characters may seem sweet, humble, and quite peaceful at first.

But under the influence of strong emotions, yanderes show aggression and cruelty, most often directed at others who can harm the hero’s loved ones or himself - at rivals in love, at ill-wishers who threaten friends. But in some cases, a lover can become a victim of a yandere. In an attempt to protect their interests, yanderes can be cruel and will not even stop at killing.

For the yangire, a subtype of yandere, the push of love is not needed, this character acts according to his ulterior motives and is often mentally unstable. Typical yandere: Sonozaki Shion (“When Cicadas Cry”), Katsura Kotonaha (“School Days”), Ryoko Asakura (“The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”).

Deretsun[edit]

Daretsun is the same as tsundere, but exactly the opposite. They are nice towards others, but cold (perhaps deservedly so) towards one person. Such characters can be assholes with or without hearts of gold, or polite and smiling scoundrels who have long left the moral horizon behind. They can be both heroes and villains.

Examplesedit

  • Blue Exorcist - Yukio Okumura.
  • Shuunen no Shiori - B-ko.
  • Oreimo - Manami Tamura in relation to Kirino. In fact, she is a kind girl, but because she is in love with the main character, she cannot stand his sister, who is also in love with him. And he doesn’t miss the chance to remind her how wrong and doomed such feelings are.
  • RWBY - Cinder Fall.
  • American Dad - Roger Smith.

Examples[edit]

  • Zero no Tsukaima is a standard: with many possible (and, according to many, best) choices for Saito, it is already clear from the opening that he will have to be with Louise.
  • Inou Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de - Ando didn’t make a choice, but the anime strongly hints that Tomoyo has the best chance.
  • ToraDora - Ryuji is initially attracted to Minori, but he still ends up with Taiga. And in the process, the three of them plus friends will dance a lot on the rake.
  • Green Green - although Midori crossed time and space for Yusuke, the guy still chooses Futaba.
  • Love Hina. Who did Kei-kun eventually belong to?.. Yes, it was Naru, who constantly scolded him and beat him. In fact, Naru became one of the iconic tsunderes for the genre, pushing the further spread of this trope.
  • B gata H kei - Kosuda and Yamada. While dandere Miyano, who had been in love with Kosuda almost since childhood, was shy and hoped to unobtrusively get closer, Yamada simply came and... And did what her opponent had not dared to do for about ten years.
  • GJ-Bu - it looks like Kyoya will be with Mao. With a wick: the other girls didn’t particularly pretend to be anything, not going beyond flirting.
  • Full Metal Panic - Sagara chose Tidori.
  • Kirarin revoulution - gender inversion. For some reason, Kirari develops a serious relationship with Hiroto, who bullied and treated her cruelly at the beginning of the series. But she develops a brother-sister relationship with Seiji.
  • “Slashers” - in the confrontation for Gauri’s heart between the hot-tempered, quick-to-hand Lina and the gentle, shy Sylphil, Lina wins.
  • Non-anime example: Geralt of Rivia had many women, but he only truly loves Yennefer. In a series of games, you can play out a trope (or you can play out an inversion or an aversion).

Dandare[edit]

Abbr. from danmari (shy) deredere. Also English Shrinking Violet (we have a similar article - Shy Quiet One). Outwardly, it is often similar to kudere, confused with it or called a subspecies, but meanwhile there is a difference: kudere is actually what it seems, and dandere is uncomfortable because of this, but cannot do anything about itself and its stupid embarrassment.

Examplesedit

  • Azumanga Daioh: Sakaki is exactly dandere. In public he does not show emotions stronger than a smile, usually maintaining a calmly sad appearance.
  • Sailor Moon
Her chosen one is Ryo Urawa, a match for her. Watching the relationship between two dandere is quite an interesting experience.

    - Ami Mizuno, due to her parental resemblance to Rei Ayanami and her brood, is also often mistaken for a kuudere.

  • Nisekoi - Onodera Kosaki, one of the most famous representatives of the mid-2000s type.
  • Clannad - Nagisa Furukawa.
  • Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Kaguya Shinomiya!
  • Tokyo Mew Mew - Letus Midorikawa.
  • Danganronpa - Nanami Chiaki.
  • Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
Is Mikuru a dandere? She rather falls under the “moe” type.

    — Mikuru Asahina. But most likely she is just playing a role.

  • Hetalia - Liechtenstein
  • Final Fantasy VI features Terra as the main character. If in the main game her character develops, then in the fighting game Dissidia the pedal is squeezed to the metal.
  • Fire Emblem Awakening - dancer Olivia.
  • A great non-anime example is Ginny Weasley (at least the first four books).
  • Another non-anime example is Fluttershy from My Little Pony. However, with a wick, because she is capable of demonstrating other sides of her character.
  • And also Juleka Kuffen from Lady Bug and Cat Noir.
  • And also Mashenka Belaya from “Alice Knows What to Do!”
  • Naruto - Hinata Hyuga.
  • Shaman King - Tamao Tamamura.
  • InuYasha - Kagome Higurashi.
  • Golden Kamuy - Tanigaki Genjiro. Due to the fact that he almost always walks with a serious expression on his face, he is mistaken for kudere, but at the same time he often cries, is always embarrassed by his own decency, and if he gets into an awkward situation (and this happens to him all the time ), then he begins to make confused excuses, especially in front of Cikapasi, Inkarmat and Ogata, who openly laugh at him.
  • One Piece - Suddenly, Boa Hancock
  • School Days is a zigzag with Kotonoha: at first she was just a subject. Exactly until she found out about Makoto’s betrayal. In some cases, Kotonoha decides to kill Sekai.
  • South Park - Stan. The fact that he vomits on Wendy is one of the signs of the trope

Digging deeper[edit]

You can make “matryoshka dolls” from dere.

  • To Love-Ru - the features of kudere and tsundere are mixed in Golden Darkness. And her dark version is generally a yandere.
  • Gosick
Unusually similar to Victorique, the main character of Rozen Maiden, Shinku, is also a kutsundere. An icy blonde with the same cold blue eyes, sometimes - often emotionless and extremely rationalistic - this is KU. In communicating with others, especially with Jun, Suiginto and Hina, she shows incredible rudeness (and this is what a typical Victorian girl from high society does!), moral humiliation, and often assault - this is TsUN. Only as the heroine undergoes a moral transformation, who nevertheless turns out to be not the bitch she demonstrated in herself, does her sincere loving and affectionate essence reveal itself (she thanks Jun for saving her and kisses him, mourns the defeated Suiginto and sincerely rejoices when she is resurrected) - this DERE.

. Victorika can be designated as kutsundere. At first glance, the library recluse is so withdrawn and unemotional that people unfamiliar with her do not immediately recognize her as a living person, mistaking her for a large doll - this is KU. However, upon getting to know her better, you discover that she has an arrogant, capricious, bitchy character - this is TsUN. And only after drinking it in full, you can finally unearth a gentle and loving person in her - this is DERE.

  • Doki Doki Literature Club!
Not KU, but DAN, since Yuri communicates little with others precisely because of shyness. And she is too emotional for kudere.

    - Yuri, kuyandere.

[edit] Famous tsunderes

There are enough examples.
There is no need to add anything else here. No, really.

Yeah, that's it. Another tsundere.

  • Naru Narusegawa from Love Hina
  • Suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden
  • Rei Hino from Sailormoon
  • Winry Rockbell from FMA
  • Soi Fong and Kuchiki Rukia from BLEACH
  • Sonozaki Mion from Higurasei
  • Uehara from GTO
  • Maya from Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin
  • Kyo from Clannad
  • Alice Black Rabbit from Pandora Hearts
  • Akira Kogami and Kagami Hiiragi from Lucky Star
  • England and Romano from Hetalia
  • Lady Une from Gundam is generally a clinical case of split personality.
  • Kotegawa Yui from To Love-Ru
  • Makise Kurisu from Steins;Gate

  • Serah from The Land Before Time
  • Nellie from “The Humiliated and Insulted”

A more complete list can be found in the corresponding article on TV Tropes.

Where not found[edit]

Yes, there are reverse examples too. Tastes, after all, are different for everyone.

  • Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo - Nanami, however, is not that much of a tsundere, but Sorata starts an affair with Shiina.
  • Clannad
But in the alternate reality series, it’s the other way around: Tomoya chooses Kyo, and especially cynically, initially meeting with the much quieter Ryo.

    — Tomoya chose Nagisa, even though Kyo was a serious contender.

  • The Disappearance of Yuki Nagato - Although hints are given at the beginning of Kyon/Haruhi, the series is specifically dedicated to the guy's relationship with Yuki.
  • Chuunibyou demo koi ga shitai - Yuta is initially attracted to Shinka (who, however, carefully hides her tsundere in public), but then switches to Rikku.
  • Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? — Ayumu is clearly in love with Eucliwood, he doesn’t do much more than glance at everyone else.
  • HenNeko - not completely determined, but Yoto is still leaning towards Tsukiko over Azusa.
  • Naruto - Naruto chooses the dandere Hinata, and Sakura, who often behaved like a real tsundere towards him, finally fulfilled her dream and married Sasuke.
  • Midori no Hibi - In both the manga and anime, Seiji ends up with Midori instead of Ayase.

Kudere

Emotional, cold and distant. In those cases when they do engage in conversation, they act cynically and straightforwardly. A stony face and an even voice are their constant companions. Despite their icy nature, kuudere characters are capable of caring (they often learn this during the story along with their love interest) and form romantic relationships.

Typical examples: Kanade Tachibana (Angel Beats!), Eucliwood Hellsite (Isn't this a zombie? / Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?), Mashiro Shin (Sakura-sou no Pet na Kanojo)
