Junko Furuta

How could schoolchildren imprison someone in such hell?

Attention! The post contains shocking information. Sensitive and faint of heart people should avoid viewing. 18+

Perhaps more importantly, how could the criminal justice system let them off as easily as they did? You'll be shocked at how little retribution they got for the brutal murder of Junko Furuta.

Student Junko Furuta (Junko Furuta 古田 順子, Junko_Furuta), 16 years old, was in 11th grade at Yashi-Minami High School, Misato City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Junko Furuta was every parent's dream. She grew up to be a cheerful, studious girl who was more interested in her studies than drugs or partying. The girl hoped to continue her education and go to college.

Furuta was born in Misato, Saitama Prefecture. She lived with her parents, older and younger brother. During her teenage years, she attended Yashio-Minami High School. Since October 1988, the girl began helping her parents after school and got a part-time job at a plastic injection factory. She did this to save money for graduation. Furuta also got a job at an electronics store, where she planned to work after graduation.

Junko was a beautiful sixteen year old girl. She didn't drink, didn't smoke, didn't gamble in Japanese games, and was loved by her classmates; it seemed that a bright future awaited the girl. Unfortunately, her beauty attracted the attention of school bullies. One of them was Hiroshi Miyano , a peculiar student who had long and hopelessly loved Furuta. According to their classmates, Hiroshi Miyano asked Junko out on a date, but she respectfully and firmly refused. This firm “no” infuriated the young scoundrel.

Hiroshi Miyano is not used to being told no. He was not only a school bully, but also a known associate of the yakuza.

"Producer" of Tokyo debauchery

More than 400 people gathered at the meeting at which the verdict was to be announced, and there were only 16 seats in the hall for those who wanted to find out what fate awaited the killer.

Takahiro Shiraishi was born in the city of Zama, in Kanagawa Prefecture, but when the boy was 4 years old, the family moved to Yokohama. Takahiro's father was in the automobile business, and his relatives did not experience financial problems.

In 2009, the young man successfully completed high school, after which he got a job in a supermarket. They were very pleased with the new employee, noting his diligence and responsibility, but in 2011 Shiraishi quit.

He soon left Yokohama and, after a period of wandering, settled in Tokyo. The job he found for himself this time was very specific - Shiraishi became a recruiter hiring young girls. And everything would have been fine, but he recruited them in Kabukicho, Tokyo’s “red light district.” At the same time, acquaintances who communicated with him at this time described him as a friendly and cheerful person.

The girl rejected the feelings of the young yakuza.

Junko Furuta

Hiroshi Miyano had a yakuza and joined the gang himself. Because of the fear of Japanese gangsters, in Saitama Prefecture, no one ever dared to refuse them anything. Only little Furuta was the only one who dared to say no. Miyano considered this an insult and took revenge on the schoolgirl.

Serial pedophile nightcare worker arrested in Tokyo

On November 25, 1988, Junko was riding her bike home from her baito (part-time job). At this time, two slackers Miyano and Minato were wandering around the local park, hunting innocent schoolgirls. They were famous and experienced rapists; Miyano and Minato were excellent at spotting easy targets.

The scoundrels noticed the cyclist and quickly came up with a cunning plan. The sneaky Minato pushed Furuta off his bike and ran away, skillfully creating a distraction. Unexpecting an insidious attack, the girl fell and injured her leg. At this time, the young yakuza Miyano, who was “accidentally” walking along the street, ran over to help her up. He offered to walk her home. Unsuspecting Junko accepted her classmate's offer.

You know, he's crazy. Recently he threatened me with a knife. You may still be in danger, perhaps I should walk you home?

[This is what Miyano reportedly told her.]

Instead, Miyano dragged the girl to an abandoned warehouse in a park and, bragging about his Yakuza connections, raped her, threatening to kill her entire family if she called for help.

“That guy in the park [who threw you off your bike] is my friend, and we are the yakuza who chose you. Listen carefully and we will spare your life. You will have sex with us. If you raise your voice, we will kill you."

Threatening to kill, he took me to a nearby hotel and raped me again. From the hotel, Miyano called Shinji Minato and his other friends (Jo Ogura and Yasusi Watanabe ) and invited them to “have fun.”

Kidnapping

Around 3 a.m., Miyano took Furuta to a nearby park, where Minato, Ogura, and Watanabe were waiting for him. They learned her home address from a notebook in her backpack and told her that they knew where she lived and that Yakuza members would kill her family if she tried to escape.

The girl initially tried to escape, but was met with brutal violence and became scared when the boys used yakuza language, so she gave up resistance. Moreover, when the detention began, Miyano told her that he would let her go home after a while, so perhaps she believed him.

She was first raped repeatedly by her classmates, but then her friends decided it would be more fun to completely kidnap her. They brought her to Shinji Minato and locked her in the basement of a house on Ayase Street in the Adachi Ward, north of ] Tokyo.[/anchor]

According to the police, Ogura asked Miyano to leave the girl with Shinji Minato so that all his friends would have the opportunity to commit rape. Subsequently, countless other youths and gangsters from this city were able to join them. My comrades already had similar successful experiences of gang rape. Shortly before Furuta's abduction, they kidnapped and raped another girl with impunity, although she was later released alive. They silenced her by threatening her family with death.

The house where Junko Furuta was held captive

The worst thing is that the teenager’s parents also lived there, heard everything and knew what was happening. At first they were convinced that Junko was Hiroshi Miyano's and she was hiding from her abusive parents in the basement of their house. But eventually they began to understand what was really going on.

Ten days later, they fully realized the horror that was taking place when the bloodied girl began to beg them to help her escape. But they were too scared of the Yakuza and the possibility of losing their reputation in society, and did not dare to do anything, heartlessly allowing the scum to torture and rape a young girl in her own home.

Furuta Killers

Only four teenagers were recognized as criminals: Hiroshi Miyano (宮野裕史, 18 years old), Joe Ogura (小倉譲, 17), Shinji Minato (湊伸治, 16) and Yasushi Watanabe (渡邊恭史, Watanabe Yatsushi, 17 ). During the crime, they used the basement, second floor, and attic of Minato's house as a hideout. The scum have previously been involved in illegal activities, including theft, beatings, extortion and rape.

Several other accomplices were officially identified as having participated in Furuta's abuse, including Nobuharo Minato (Shinji's brother), Tetsuo Nakamura and Koichi Ihara, who were charged with rape after their DNA was found on the victim's body and inside her. They were not brought to trial.

Junko's next 44 days were filled with unimaginable pain. Several dozen different men (mostly classmates and other members of the yakuza) raped Junko more than 500 times.

44 days of torture

Junko Furuta's parents called the police on November 27 and reported that their daughter was missing. The incident attracted the attention of local residents and the press, and the guys got scared. The scum forced her to call home and say that she had run away with her lover, was planning to start a new life, and did not want to be found. The police called off the search.

Kamisaku is a famous young man in the area. He was only 17 years old, but he had already served time in a youth prison. After leaving prison, Kamisaku continued to interact with the yakuza.

For teenagers, the poor girl Furuta became a toy, capable of satisfying their painful lust and incredible cruelty.

According to the investigation, when the parents of one of Furuta's kidnappers came home, the boys forced the girl to pose as Hiroshi Miyano's . Over time, it became clear what they were doing, but Nobuharu Minato's parents could do nothing about it.

For the first ten days, the teenagers raped the girl one by one and in a crowd more than 500 times. They amused themselves by forcing her to undress in front of others, masturbate, and insert various objects into her genitals.

The four criminals invited their friends and acquaintances to Minato's, boasting that there was a "prisoner girl" locked up there, available for sex. At one point, she was being raped by at least 20 men in one day. They burned with lighters and cigarettes, inserted various objects into the vagina and anus, and took photographs with the victim in the background.

Junko's internal organs will be subjected to such severe trauma that she will eventually lose control of urination and defecation.

According to the boys, they shaved her pubic hair, forced her to dance naked to music, smoke several cigarettes at once, inhale paint thinner and drink large amounts of alcohol, milk and water, and left her on a balcony in the middle of a winter night in her underwear.

One of the kidnappers recalled that it took the girl more than an hour to go down to the first floor and use the bathroom.

After washing the girl, the scoundrels continued to rape her.

The bastards took Polaroid photos

As the men and boys became fed up and disgusted with continuing sexual acts with the mutilated victim, the severity of the beatings increased.

In twenty days.

And yet she almost escaped.

Twenty days after the torture began, Junko managed to dial an emergency number, but a young yakuza saw this and snatched the phone from her before Junko could say anything. When the police called back, Miyano assured them it was a mistake.

The gentle executioner Takahiro Shiraishi. Takahiro Shiraishi. 18+ (masakaru.ru)

They punished her for trying to escape.

Furuta had a flammable liquid poured on her feet and set on fire; They burned their faces with the flame of a candle and lighters. Then they broke the bottle and inserted it into the anus, as a result of which the girl received numerous injuries. We dropped the barbell on our stomach several times and crushed our fingers.

The girl began to convulse; the boys would later say that they thought she was faking it. They set it on fire again and then extinguished it.

The unfortunate woman barely survived this day. She vomited when she tried to drink some water due to stomach pain. Due to numerous fractures and infected burns, she was unable to move her arms or go to the downstairs toilet.

The unfortunate woman lay on the floor of Minato's room in a state of extreme weakness. The girl began to suffer from incontinence due to injuries inflicted on her internal organs, for which she was repeatedly beaten.

The case of the murdered and cemented high school student

The prisoner's condition steadily worsened due to numerous injuries and ongoing abuse. During the last weeks of her life, Junko had difficulty moving around the house independently. It took her about an hour to crawl to the bathroom. On January 4, 1989, Miyano and his friends once again brutally beat the girl. After that, the attackers doused Junko with gasoline from a lighter and set her on fire. As forensic experts later determined, the girl died from painful shock. The next day the decision was made to dispose of the body. The corpse was placed in a large barrel and filled with cement solution, after which it was taken to a construction site. The discovered body with traces of numerous sadistic tortures caused a wide public outcry. Furuta's case was called the "high school girl murder and cement case." Quite quickly, law enforcement officers managed to identify and detain the criminals.

In thirty days

The brutal injuries could not help but affect the girl’s appearance: over time, her face became so swollen and blackened that it was impossible to even make out its features, and due to infection of the wounds, the girl’s body began to rot and smell. The kidnappers were repulsed by this and needed a new victim to satisfy their sexual needs. The scoundrels attacked a 19-year-old girl in the park, whose identity was never revealed, and raped her.

Furuta's torture continued: they urinated on her, hung her from the ceiling and used her as a punching bag, crushed her stomach with dumbbells, smashed her face on the cement floor, beat her with golf clubs and iron bars, forced her to eat live cockroaches and drink her own urine, locked inside the freezer for long periods of time.

The girl could not walk due to serious burns on her legs, she was beaten with bamboo sticks, her hands were crushed, her nails had cracks from being beaten with a baseball bat. The teenagers continued to extinguish lit cigarettes on her body, burned her eyelids with hot wax and lighters, inserted fireworks into her anus, and then set her on fire . The scumbags inserted the knitting needles of a hot chicken grill, scissors, nails, and a hot light bulb into the vagina and anus , causing the girl to bleed. The nipples were crushed with pliers, then the left nipple was torn off, causing severe bleeding.

This terrifying list goes on and on. There was no limit to the evil these people were capable of, and one of the most terrifying things about it was the incredible number of people involved in this incident.

Not just the scumbags who took part in these actions, but also the people who knew what was going on. It seems that half the male population of the city knew and participated in this monstrous ritual.

On January 1, 1989, Furuta celebrated the New Year alone with a swollen and motionless half-dead body. Due to her injuries, it took her an hour to crawl to the toilet. The eardrums were seriously damaged, and there was a radical reduction in brain size.

The 44-Day Spooky Story of Junko Furuta

Junko Furuta
Shinji Minato's parents were concerned about the presence of their son's girlfriend, whose name was Junko Furuta, in the house. Junko spent so much time with Shinji that it seemed as if she had moved in with him.

Even when the young man's parents began to suspect that Junko's eternal presence in the house was by no means voluntary, they continued to pretend that everything was in order, because they were afraid of their son's anger and his friend's connections with the yakuza.

As it turned out, for Shinji Minato and his friends, Hiroshi Miyano, Jo Ogura and Yasushi Watanabe, Junko Furuta was a captive, sex slave and punching bag.

Junko Furuta was an ordinary girl. She attended Yashio-Minami High School in Misato, Japan. Despite her reputation as a “good girl”—unlike her classmates, Junko did not drink, smoke, do drugs, and was a good student—she was quite popular at school and had a bright future ahead of her.

Then she met Hiroshi Miyano.

Miyano was a school bully who often boasted of his connections to the Yakuza, Japan's powerful organized crime syndicate. According to classmates, Miyano had a crush on Furuta, and he became very angry when she rejected him. He believed that no one dared to refuse him, especially after he spoke about his connections with the yakuza.

A few days after Furuta gave Miyano a twist, he and Minato decided to go to Misato's local park to hunt innocent girls. Miyano and Minato were skilled bandit rapists and experts at locating defenseless targets.

Hiroshi Miyano and Shinji Minato

At approximately 08:30, they spotted Furuta riding her bike home from work. Minato pushed Furuta on purpose and she fell off the bike. At this point, Miyano intervened in the situation, pretending to be an innocent and worried bystander. Miyano helped Furuta to her feet and volunteered to walk her home. The girl involuntarily agreed.

But she never made it home.

Instead, Miyano brought Junko to an abandoned warehouse, where he told her about his connections with the yakuza, after which he raped her, threatening to kill her and her family if she made even a single sound. He then took her to the park where Minato, Ogura and Watanabe were waiting. They took turns raping the poor girl and secretly took her to Minato's parents' house.

Junko's parents reported their daughter missing to the police. However, Miyano forced the girl to call home and tell her father and mother that she had run away and would now live with a friend. Minato told his parents that Furuta was his girlfriend, but they eventually began to suspect something was wrong.

Unfortunately, fear of the Yakuza kept them silent, and for 44 days they lived in alarming ignorance of the horrors that were happening in their own home.

During this time, Junko Furuta was raped more than 400 times - by Miyano, his friends and acquaintances, whom he invited to mock the poor girl. They inserted iron rods, scissors, skewers, fireworks and even a lit light bulb into Junko's vagina and anus, as a result of which her internal anatomy was disrupted and she could no longer relieve herself in the usual way.

Minato House, where Junko Furuta spent 44 days

When Minato and his friends weren't raping Junko, they forced her to do terrible things, such as eating live cockroaches, masturbating, and drinking her own urine. Her body was hung from the ceiling and beaten with golf clubs, bamboo sticks and iron bars. The girl's eyelids and genitals were burned from cigarettes, lighters and hot wax.

The police were notified twice about what was happening in Minato's house, but they did not react to it.

A young man who was invited to Minato's house saw Furuta in a deplorable state and told his brother about everything. He, in turn, shared information with his parents, who contacted the police. The police arrived at Minato's home, but his parents convinced them that there was no girl inside. Their words seemed convincing enough, and the police did not do anything.

The second time Furuta herself called the police, but she did not have time to really say anything, since the phone call was interrupted by the criminals. When the police called back, Miyano assured them it was a mistake. As punishment for this, he doused Furuta's feet with lighter fluid and set them on fire.

On January 4, 1989, Furuta died. According to reports, the criminals became enraged when she beat them at mahjong and tortured her to death. After that, they placed the girl's body in a barrel, filled it with concrete and left it at the construction site.

Jo Ogura and Yasushi Watanabe

Two weeks later, police arrested Miyano and Ogura on charges of gang rape. During questioning, police mentioned a murder investigation. Believing that they were talking about Furuta's murder, Miyano confessed everything and revealed where Furuta's body was hidden.

The murder case cited by the police was not related to Furuta, and Miyano mistakenly turned himself in. A few days later, Minato and Watanabe were arrested.

Despite the unimaginable cruelty of the crime, the perpetrators got off with shockingly light sentences.

Hiroshi Miyano was sentenced to 20 years in prison, Jo Ogura received eight years, and Shinji Mnato and Yasushi Watanabe received slightly less.

And although the fact that all of them were minors at the time of the crime was taken into account when passing the sentence, there is an opinion that the court’s decision was somehow influenced by the yakuza. If this case had been tried in any other place, or if the criminals had been a year or two older, they would have faced the death penalty.

Day 44. The last torture...

On the 44th day, January 4, 1989, one of the sadists returned after losing at mahjong. He went up to the attic, which had been turned into a torture room. Miyano decided to vent his bad mood and anger on a “bag of sand.” He beat her for a long time until the girl started having convulsions. Soon other torturers arrived.

After being kicked, she fell to the floor and convulsed. Because she was bleeding heavily and pus was coming out of the infected burns, the four boys covered their hands with plastic bags to prevent the pus from getting on their hands.

The dying girl asked the sadists: “Kill me and finish this quickly.” But the boys thought (according to investigators) that she was pretending again.

They continued to beat her and dropped an iron dumbbell on her stomach several times. They poured lighter fluid on her legs, arms, face and stomach and set her on fire again. Furuta tried to put out the fire with her broken arms, but gradually stopped moving.

Four youths mutilated her body with an iron rod, burned her face and eyes with a candle, then poured liquid from lighters onto her legs, arms, face and stomach and set her on fire. The last torture lasted two hours. The teenagers watched her agony with interest.

Furuta died as a result of painful shock on the same day.

They put the body in a barrel and filled it with cement.
For a whole day, the four guys did not realize that Junko had died. They assumed she had lost consciousness, which was quite common. As soon as her death was noticed, the killers began disposing of the body.

Fearing punishment for murder, the group wrapped her body in blankets and stuffed her into a duffel bag. To finally get rid of the body, the boys placed it in a 210 liter barrel, filled it with cement and threw it away on the outskirts of Tokyo.

On January 23, 1989, Miyano and Ogura were arrested for the gang rape of a 19-year-old girl they had abducted in December. On March 29, two police officers came to question them because women's underwear was found at their addresses.

During Miyano's interrogation, the officer mentioned an open investigation into the girl's murder. Believing that they were talking about Furuta's death and that Ogura must have confessed, Miyano ratted everyone out and told the police where they could find her body. The police were initially puzzled by the confession as they were referring to the murder of another woman and her seven-year-old son that had occurred nine days before Furuta's kidnapping ( the case remains unsolved to this day ). No one even imagined that Furuta was missing, much less that she was dead.

The place where the barrel with Junko Furuta's body was found

On April 1, 1989, Joe Ogura was arrested for another sexual assault and later rearrested for Furuta's murder. The arrest of Watanabe, Minato and Minato's brother followed.

Several other accomplices were officially identified as having participated in Furuta's abuse, including Tetsuo Nakamura and Koichi Ihara, who were charged with rape after their DNA was found on and inside the victim's body

Minato's parents were not charged.

Murder of Junko Furuta

In short, ladies and gentlemen, I will start directly - if you have weak nerves or a weak stomach, or a wild imagination, or a tendency to stress, do not read this post. I'm serious. I myself would prefer not to know what it was. For several days I walked around as if dumbfounded - and this despite the fact that, in principle, I was accustomed to stories about various famous murders. There is, you know, this tendency - sometimes to read something creepy, doubly creepy because it’s real. Then it gets sick and worse, but after a while you read again.

This time the story is especially creepy. Japanese stories in general are often distinguished by some kind of special monstrosity, just like their horror films. I know that here on the site there are people either permanently residing in Japan, or often visiting there - perhaps they know this story better, I am retelling it from English-language sources (the Russian-language Wikipedia also has information, but it is a little inaccurate and not so complete) .

Again, I repeat, people, seriously - if stories like this make you feel bad, don't read.

So, this story happened at the end of 1988 in the Japanese city of Misato. Sixteen-year-old schoolgirl Junko Furuta was an ordinary teenage girl - a pretty, smart, diligent student. She wasn't the "cool girl"—she didn't drink, didn't smoke, didn't do drugs—but she was still the popular girl at her school. The school bully and bad guy Hiroshi Miyano was “in love” with her, but the girl refused him - she was not in the mood for any relationship. And few people dared to refuse Miyano - he boasted of his connections with the yakuza.

On November 25, 1988, Miyano and his friend Nobuharu Minato were wandering around a local park, looking for women they could rob and rape. Around eight in the evening they saw Junko, who was riding her bicycle home from her evening part-time job. On Miyano's orders, Minato knocked Junko off her bike and escaped. Miyano pretended that he was just passing by and offered help to Junko, saying that he wanted to walk her home. Junko agreed.

But he did not take her home.

He took her to a nearby warehouse, where he informed her of his connections with the Yakuza, and threatening to kill her and her family, he raped her first in the warehouse, then took her to a nearby hotel, where he raped her again. From the hotel, he called his friends Minato, Jo Ogura and Yasushi Watanabe. These, excuse me, creatures already had experience of gang rape - even before that, they once kidnapped and raped a girl, although she was released alive.

At three in the morning, Miyano took the girl to the park, where the other three were already waiting. They reported that they knew where she lived and that the Yakuza would kill her entire family if she dared to escape. After this, she was taken to the house of Nobuharu Minato's parents, where she was raped again, this time by a group. There she remained. Forever.

On November 27, Junko's parents contacted the police, reporting her missing. To throw everyone off the scent, the scoundrels forced her to call home and say that she had run away, she was fine, she was with friends. They forced her to ask her mother to withdraw her statement from the police so that no one would look for her. The girl was forced to tell Minato's parents that she was Minato's girlfriend. Minato's parents and brother pretended that everything was fine. They didn't tell anyone anything, didn't help Junko in any way, even when she stopped pretending and started begging them for help. They later stated that they did nothing because they were afraid of Miyano and his connections with the mafia, and they were afraid of their own son, who himself often attacked them.

Or they were just as ugly as their offspring.

Because then Junko survived 44 days of hell. They abused her with monstrous, incredible cruelty - I would call her bestial, but such animals do not exist. What they did to her was simply a nightmare. And it’s especially creepy when you think that this was done to a sixteen-year-old girl by guys who were not much older than her.

According to their own confessions in court, during these forty-four days, Junko was raped more than 400 times, both by these four and by some other guys they knew, whom the scoundrels brought to them (the killers later said that about where Junko was and what happened to it happened, about a hundred people knew). She was beaten. They were starving. They hung it from the ceiling and used it as a “punching bag”, hitting it with sticks and golf clubs. They threw dumbbells on her stomach. They inserted foreign objects into her vagina and anus, including scissors and a lit light bulb. They forced her to drink urine and eat live cockroaches. They burned her with cigarettes and a lighter. They burned her eyelids with hot wax and a lighter. They inserted fireworks into her genitals, mouth and ears and set her on fire. They cut her nipples and breasts. They forced her to sleep on the balcony (in winter) and locked her in the refrigerator. Many times the girl asked to “kill her and be done with it,” but the scumbags did not want to let her go so easily.

In early December, Junko tried to call the police, but Miyano caught her before she could utter a word. When the police called back some time later, Miyano told them there had been a mistake - and as punishment, he doused Junko's feet with lighter fluid and set him on fire.

But the police could have saved Junko. Some of her other rapists were later identified and arrested. One of them, named Koichi Ihara, later stated that he was forced to rape Junko on the sixteenth day of the girl’s captivity. Returning home, he told his older brother about everything. The brother told their parents, who called the police. Two police officers arrived at Minato's house, but the owners said that there was no girl in their house. They suggested that they search the house themselves, but the police decided that such an offer in itself was proof that nothing illegal was happening in the house. They refused, apologized and left. They were subsequently fired for this. Junko might have survived if she had been found then.

But they continued to bully her. After some time, she completely changed from the beatings. Her face was swollen. An unpleasant odor emanated from her festering wounds. She lost control of urination and bowel movements. She was vomiting. For this she was beaten again. But now the rapists have lost sexual interest in her. They caught a 19-year-old girl and raped her in a group.

On January 4, 1989, the rapists, according to them, invited Junko to play a game of mahjong with them, which she won. Angry, they beat her again. Since her body was bleeding and covered with pus, they beat her with plastic bags over their fists. And they beat her not only with their hands - with a stick, with a barbell. They then poured lighter fluid on her arms, legs, face and stomach and set her on fire. According to them, for some time Junko still tried to knock off the fire, but in the end she calmed down, and after a while she died from her wounds.

The killers wrapped the body in a blanket and took it out of the house. She was stuffed into a huge barrel and filled with cement, and thrown out at a construction site.

On January 23, 1989, Hiroshi Miyano and Jo Ogura were arrested for the rape of a nineteen-year-old girl in December. In March, they again summoned Miyano for questioning because they found the underwear of a raped girl in his home. During the interrogation, something the police said made Miyano think that the police knew about Junko's murder. He decided that Ogura had confessed to everything and told the police where to look for the girl’s body. The police were puzzled - they asked about the murders of a woman and her seven-year-old son, which happened shortly before Junko's kidnapping.

Junko's body was found and identified. Ogura and the other bastards were soon arrested again.

What happened next is also scary, to be honest. According to Japanese law, these scoundrels were considered minors. All of them were 18 years or younger at the time of the murder. They all got off extremely lightly. By law, the police had no right to publicize their names. The names became known only thanks to the press, the newspaper Shukan Bunshun.

The newspapermen said that human rights do not apply to livestock.

During the sentencing, the judge said that Junko's murder was so brutal, he believes her soul is still haunted. One of the spectators lost consciousness when the details of the girl’s torture were described at the trial. Junko's mother also suffered a nervous breakdown and needed the help of a psychiatrist.

Iroshi Miyano (who later changed his name to Hiroshi Yokoyama), the leader of the group, received the most serious sentence - seventeen years. He appealed, but the appeal court added three more years. It is reported that Miyano's mother eventually sold her house and gave Junko's parents 50 million yen ($425,000). Miyano was eventually released; in 2013, he was arrested again for fraud, but was released.

Nobuharu Minato, also known as Shinji Minato, was sentenced to four to six years, which was changed to five to nine years on appeal. He was sixteen years old at the time of the crime. His parents and brother were not accused. Junko's parents then sued Minato's parents in civil court, and won. After his release, Minato moved in with his mother. He is unemployed.

Yasushi Watanabe, originally sentenced to three to four years, eventually received a sentence of five to seven. He was seventeen at the time of the crime. After his release, he married a Romanian.

Jō Ogura, otherwise known as Jō Kamisaku, who was seventeen, served eight years in prison. Upon his release, he was reported to have frequently bragged about his role in Junko's rape and murder. In 2004, he kidnapped and beat his acquaintance Takatoshi Isono, whom he accused of having an affair with his girlfriend. According to Isono, Ogura threatened him with death, saying that he had killed before and gotten away with it. For this beating, he spent seven years in prison, and is now free again. It is reported that Ogura's mother once desecrated Junko's grave, claiming that the girl had ruined her son's life.

Society was shocked and angry at such light sentences, but unfortunately, the criminals were protected by the law applicable to criminals 18 years of age or younger. If the scoundrels had been a couple of years older, they would have received the death penalty. But unfortunately, these creatures are still alive and well.

Punishment

The parents of the deceased were not satisfied with the sentence handed down to their daughter's killers and filed a civil lawsuit against the parents of the accomplice in whose house the crime took place. Some of the charges were dropped due to conflicting evidence, because numerous traces of semen and pubic hair found on the body of the murdered woman did not match the semen and pubic hair of the arrested boys.

The case became complicated and links to the yakuza began to be traced, so the lawyer representing the interests of the victim's parents refused to become further involved in the case.

The criminals pleaded partially guilty of “causing bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim.” their guilt in committing premeditated murder .

When asked why they kept the victim in custody for more than 40 days, the boys said they were "afraid the police would catch them." When the investigator asked them if there was any other reason other than fear of being caught by the police, one of the boys retorted, “ What other reason could there be?”

In July 1990, criminals were given super lenient sentences, even for juvenile offenders . Neither of them expressed any signs of remorse.

were considered minors by Japanese standards , they received imprisonment for a period of 4 to 8 years, Hiroshi Miyano - 20. It is widely believed in Saitamo Prefecture that the Yakuza were involved.

During sentencing, the judge stated that the victim was subjected to "exceptionally serious and horrific violence" and that Junko Furuta was "so brutally murdered at the young age of 17 that [her] soul must be wandering in torment." Spectators in the gallery fainted when they heard details of the rape and brutal torture. Furuta's mother reportedly suffered a mental breakdown that required psychiatric treatment.

The fate of criminals

They had been released a long time ago, and some managed to end up in prison again.

Miyano

The end of 1988 was marked by the murder of Junko Furuta. The murder case, which is described as "the act of savages hiding behind masks", is well known more than 20 years later. However, after his release from prison in 2009, what became of Miyano was largely unknown.

Article from 2013:

Yellow text in the lower right corner: "His favorite memory was, 'I put it so far in her mouth that she vomited.'

White text at the bottom: “When I heard this rumor, I couldn’t believe it. So I invited him for a drink. The fact that you are one of the perpetrators of the “murder of a high school girl in a concrete shell” (the murder of Junko Furuta) is a lie, right? His expression suddenly stopped and he turned pale. This happened in August of this year. The next day, I stopped receiving any contact from this person [Miyano], although I used to spend almost every day with him.”

“This man (Miyano) called himself “K.” We met about 3 years ago. I joined a gym in Western Tokyo where I commuted to work. He felt like a big brother to me and invited me to hang out with him. This Photo (panel 3 with three guys in suits with Miyano's (K) face blacked out and two guys around him with pixelated faces) was taken at a barbecue we had earlier this summer. It was a time when I really didn't know about the murder incident."

“I could never imagine being so close to such a brutal criminal. But looking back, the realization that he was one of the main culprits [of Furuta's murder] isn't that surprising. He was always talking about judo (martial arts) or sex, and boasted that when he had sex with women, he would "stick it so far in her mouth that she vomited . He also talked about how much he enjoyed choking women during sex. He is already 43 years old, and this is definitely his face. My friends who also met K. sent me pictures of [Miyano] and said that it was undoubtedly the same person.”

The photograph [of Miyano] released during the murder incident [in 1989] certainly bears a striking resemblance to the photograph [K] taken in August earlier in the summer. His well-defined nose, the so-called "gyoza ears" so common among judo practitioners, and his symmetrical hairline. “The hairline is like a fingerprint because it is unique to each person.” Even if 30 years have passed, this coincidence is even worse.

M. continues talking.

"And that is not all. It is reported that [Miyano] was arrested for fraud in January, and around the same time, K suddenly disappeared for 2 weeks. Since it was New Year's Eve, I thought we should all go out for drinks together, so I tried calling [K] but couldn't find him. Later, when I asked [K] about where he was, he said that he had problems with the rental car and so he was taken to the Akasaka police station, but looking back, there is no chance that this could have been true . The reason is that K told me directly that he knew a lot of people involved in the group wire fraud scandal.”

There is even more evidence that Miyano is K.

“But I didn’t really pay much attention at the time. The person who told me that K was actually [Miyano] was a guy who served 12 years in Chiba Prison. This guy told me that he met K in Chiba prison and was his subordinate (junior yakuza). Miyano also received 20 years in Chiba Prison, right? This guy revealed the secret while drinking and said, “Brother, the media is still after him for killing Junko Furuta. It must be hard for him, huh? »

The last time M met K, K was driving a BMW, had an Hermès wallet, a gold luxury Daytona wristwatch, and generally seemed fine. He does [fraudulent] multi-level marketing and there are a lot of boastful posts from him on LINE.

It cannot be said that he was made to pay for his crimes after serving only 20 years in prison. To kill this girl in such a terrible way and not even apologize or explain his actions to the family of the deceased. This magazine intends to obtain more information [related to Miyano].

From this we see that Miyano is the best at hiding her involvement in Furuta's murder.

Hiroshi Miyano , who was recognized as the main criminal and served 20 years, changed his name to Hiroshi Yokoyama after leaving prison.

In January 2013, Miyano was rearrested for wire fraud. Due to insufficient evidence, he was released without charge that month.

Miyano tries his best to hide his involvement in the murder and disappears when people figure out who he is. It's as if he knows what he did was wrong and wants to absolve himself of responsibility.

Minato

Minato went largely unnoticed after killing Furuta. After his release, Minato changed his name to Shinji and moved in with his mother. He hasn't worked since then.

In 2006, he married someone from Romania or Liechtenstein and had a daughter. His wife later divorced him and received custody of their daughter.

In August 2021, Minato, 45, was arrested for attempted murder after beating a 32-year-old man with a metal rod and cutting his throat with a knife. After his arrest, Minato used an old trick and denied the murder charges. “I beat [the victim], but I didn’t mean to kill him.”

He said the following about his former life in prison for killing Furuta: “Prison is nothing but hardship, and it is not an environment in which I can confront my past crimes. Even after I was released from prison, society turned out to be too difficult, so of course I couldn’t face my past crimes.”

“Various articles [written about me] say that I am not amenable to rehabilitation. These people have never met or talked to me, so they have no idea how I live my life, so why are they arbitrarily writing these things [about me]? Idiots.”

He appears to be complaining that the prison system has not rehabilitated him and that somehow they are to blame for him committing another crime.

Ogura

Jō Ogura spent eight years in juvenile detention and was released in August 1999, taking the name Jō Kamisaku. He is said to have learned some IT skills in prison and worked for some firm after his release from prison, but was fired because people around him found out about his involvement in the murder.

He later joined the yakuza, where he reportedly recalled: “When I was a boy, I went to prison for 10 years. I kidnapped a girl and one day when I returned to the house after going out to play, the girl was dead. So I lit a cigarette and held it to her nose, but the smoke didn't move at all. That's how I knew she was dead."

After his release, Kamisaku (Ogura) bragged to friends about his role in Furuta's kidnapping, rape, and torture. It's almost as if he sees his past murder as a badge of honor. So he clearly didn't learn anything after killing Furuta.

At some point, Ogura married a Chinese woman and later divorced her. In July 2004, Ogura attacked Takatoshi Isono, a 27-year-old man (member of the yakuza) with whom he believed his girlfriend might be involved. Ogura tracked down Isono, beat him up and forced him into a truck. Ogura then drove to a bar where he beat Isono for another 4 hours, repeatedly threatening to kill him, and boasting that he had killed before and knew very well how to get away with murder. Ogura was sentenced to 4 years in prison for the attack on Isono. In 2009, he was released again.

Yasushi

Watanabe Yasushi was released from prison in 1996 . After filing an appeal, Watanabe's original prison term was increased to 5-7 years. There is not much news about him. After leaving prison, he started a family and lived a calm, happy life. Recently, under public pressure, he has become one of Japan's "hikikomori". This is somewhat concerning given that hikikomori are more likely to reoffend and act violently.

In short,

  1. Hiroshi Miyano is embarrassed by his past and doesn't want anyone to know about it. He takes on ridiculous names such as "K" to disguise his identity.
  2. Joe Ogura is proud of his crime and is known to openly brag about it. He even committed a similar crime in 2004 against the man he had previously bragged about killing Furuta to.
  3. Shinji Minato acts as if the crime is none of his business and blames the prison system for failing to rehabilitate him.
  4. Yasushi Watanabe probably regrets his crime, but this is not certain.

Timeline of massacres in Japan

TASS DOSSIER. On July 18, 2021, in Kyoto, a fire in the building of an animation studio killed, according to preliminary data, at least 23 people. Another 36 people were hospitalized. The fire occurred due to deliberate arson. At the scene, police detained a 41-year-old man who allegedly spilled a flammable liquid inside the studio.

The editors of TASS-DOSSIER have prepared a chronology of cases of massacres in Japan, which resulted in the death of five or more people. Since 1980, ten such incidents have been recorded (excluding the emergency on July 18, 2021). The chronology includes terrorist attacks, as well as intentional actions that led to plane crashes.

On August 19, 1980, in Tokyo, at the bus terminal at the Shinjuku railway station, a 38-year-old man threw a bucket of gasoline and a lit newspaper at the bus. As a result of the fire, six people died (including an eight-year-old boy), and another 14 passengers on the bus suffered burns. The offender, whose name was not disclosed, was declared mentally ill and sentenced to life imprisonment. In 1997, he committed suicide.

On February 9, 1982, a Japan Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-8-61 (registration number JA8061) on scheduled flight 350 from Fukuoka to Tokyo crashed on approach to Haneda Airport in Tokyo Bay. The plane collided with water 510 m from the start of the runway and was severely damaged, but remained afloat. There were 166 passengers and eight crew members on board, and 24 people died in the disaster. The cause of the plane's fall was the actions of the aircraft's captain, Seiji Katagiri, who activated the reverse of the 2nd and 3rd engines in flight and sharply sent the plane down. Katagiri survived, was one of the first to leave the plane in distress, and was subsequently found not guilty of the crash due to insanity. A forensic examination diagnosed him with paranoid schizophrenia.

On June 28, 1994, in the city of Matsumoto (Nagano Prefecture), members of the extremist religious sect “Aum Shinrikyo” (banned in the Russian Federation) sprayed the nerve agent sarin, as a result of which eight people were killed and about 200 more people were injured (of which 58 were seriously poisoned ). The investigation established that the attack was carried out with the aim of disrupting the announcement of the verdict in the Aum Shinrikyo financial fraud case - sarin was sprayed near the houses of court workers. The organizers and perpetrators of this attack were identified and convicted during the investigation into the sect's more notorious crime - the sarin attack in the Tokyo subway.

On March 20, 1995, in Tokyo, members of the extremist religious sect Aum Shinrikyo sprayed the nerve agent sarin on five subway trains, killing 13 people, seriously injuring 50, and causing temporary visual impairment to about 1,000. This terrorist attack became the largest in terms of the number of victims in the modern history of Japan. The court recognized the spiritual leader of the sect, Shoko Asahara, as the main organizer of the attack. In May 1995, he was arrested along with the rest of the organizers and participants in the attack. A total of 13 death sentences were imposed in the Aum Shinrikyo case. Seven cult leaders, including Shoko Asahara, are executed in 2021.

On September 29, 1999, at the train station in Shimonoseki (Yamaguchi Prefecture), 35-year-old Yasuaki Uwabe crashed a rented car into a crowd of pedestrians, after which he began to injure people with knives. As a result, five people were killed and ten more were injured. Uwabe was arrested at the scene of the crime, and he told police that the reason for the attack was his “disappointment with society.” He was later sentenced to death by the Yamaguchi District Court. The sentence was carried out on March 29, 2012.

On June 8, 2001, in Osaka, 37-year-old former janitor Mamoru Takuma, armed with a kitchen knife, attacked students and teachers at the prestigious Ikeda Elementary School. As a result of the attack, eight children aged 7-8 years were killed, and another 15 people were injured - 13 children and two teachers. The examination found that the criminal suffered from a number of personality disorders, but the court sentenced him to death. The sentence was carried out on September 14, 2004.

On June 8, 2008, on the busy Chuo-dori street in Akihabara (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), 25-year-old Tomohiro Kato drove a truck into a crowd of pedestrians and then attacked passers-by with a knife. As a result, seven people were killed and ten more were injured. The criminal was detained on the spot; he motivated his action by saying that he was “tired of life.” Based on the results of a psychological examination, Kato was found sane; on March 24, 2011, the Tokyo District Court sentenced him to death. The defendant's defense appealed this decision, the case was referred to the Supreme Court of Japan, which rejected the appeal on February 2, 2015, upholding the verdict. As of July 2021, the sentence has not been carried out.

On August 10, 2008, in Osaka, 46-year-old unemployed Katsuhiro Ogawa set fire to an adult cinema located on the ground floor of an apartment building. As a result, 16 people died from fire and carbon monoxide poisoning. The arsonist argued in court that he initially wanted to commit suicide in this way, but after the fire started, he got scared and ran away from the burning building. On July 26, 2011, the Osaka High Court sentenced him to death. The sentence has not yet been carried out.

On July 26, 2021, in the city of Sagamihara (Kanagawa Prefecture), 26-year-old Satoshi Uematsu, armed with knives, attacked residents of a boarding house for people with mental disabilities. The attack killed 19 people and injured another 26 people. Uematsu, who had worked in a boarding house for three years, knew that among the night staff of the institution there were only women who could not interfere with him. Using plastic zip ties, he immobilized the guards on duty, took away their keys to the premises of the residential building and attacked the sleeping guests for 50 minutes, after which he surrendered to the police. Previously, Uematsu openly spoke with his colleagues about his desire to “get rid” of people with disabilities. Psychiatric experts found that he had a personality disorder, but determined that Satoshi Uematsu could face criminal charges. As of July 2019, he is awaiting trial.

On October 6, 2021, in the city of Hitachi (Ibaraki Prefecture), a fire in a residential building killed six people - a woman and five children aged 3-11 years. The father of the dead children, Hirobumi Komatsu, surrendered to the police and admitted to committing the arson.

People can reach unfathomable depths of evil

Putting aside the fact that the Minatos could call for help at any time, there was another way to save Junko's life. The investigation established that Koichi Ihara left the house after raping Furuta and bragged to his younger brother about the crime that had occurred. In the evening, his brother told his parents about the kidnapped girl, who immediately contacted the police. Two police officers were sent to Minato's .

When the police arrived, Minato ( Shinji and Nobuharu's ) calmly opened the door. The police spoke about the denunciation they had received and asked about the kidnapped girl who was being held in their basement.

The Minatos pretended to be shocked by such a monstrous accusation: " What the hell are you talking about?"

Even though they knew that Junko was in a terrible state there, they made a cunning move by insisting that the police go into the house and look everywhere they needed.

The police were in a hurry and declined their invitation, believing that such behavior was sufficient proof that everything was fine at Minato's house. Both officers subsequently faced significant public backlash and were fired for failing to follow police procedure.

At trial, the Minatos said they did not intervene because they knew of Miyano's yakuza connections and feared retribution, and because their own son was becoming increasingly violent towards them.

If they had done their due diligence, Furuta's ordeal would have only lasted sixteen days, and she might well have recovered from her injuries.

In July 1990, trials began and the main culprits were sentenced to prison. They appealed the court's decision and their prison sentences were reduced.

Although one of the four main offenders was sentenced to 20 years in prison, no one was jailed for life.

The mother of one of the criminals destroyed the grave of Junko Furuta, with incredible impudence accusing her of ruining her son's life.

Dozens of other rapists have not been identified or tried.

Under public pressure, Mr. and Mrs. Minato announced the sale of this house and voluntary monetary compensation to the family of Junko Furuta in the amount of $425,000 . The sale of the house dragged on for several years, the noise died down and no money was paid.

In the end, Minatos gave this money to Nobuharu, Watanabe and Joe when they were released from prison. The men used the money for expensive purchases and fun parties, relaxing after being in prison.

At that time, Miyano was still in prison, and his mother tried her best to desecrate Junki's grave, holding her responsible for her son's misfortunes.

About 100 people knew about Juno Furuta's capture, but either did nothing or participated in torture and rape. Most of the participants were classmates, teenage friends, some were low-level members of the Yakuza.

“I want to complete the process as soon as possible”

“I have repeatedly said that I agree with the prosecution and want to end the trial as soon as possible because it hurts my family, but this desire is being ignored,” Takahiro Shiraishi was quoted as saying by The Straits Times.

On December 15, 2021, his wish came true - the court sentenced the “Twitter Killer” to death by hanging. Shiraishi immediately stated that he was not going to appeal the verdict and ask for clemency.

Article on the topic

Half-blind devil.
Why is Shoko Asaharu, executed in Japan, famous? However, the execution of the sentence will not be quick. Japanese laws provide for a pause of at least 6 months between sentencing and execution - this is a kind of insurance against miscarriage of justice. Convicts often spend many years waiting to be hanged. For example, cult leader Shoko Asahara , sentenced to death in 2004 for organizing a gas attack on the Tokyo subway, was executed only in July 2021.
But in the case of Takahiro Shiraishi, the wait is unlikely to be as long.

Other

Junko Furuta's funeral took place on April 2, 1989. A memorial address from one of her friends said:

Jun-chan, welcome back. I never thought we'd see you like this again. You must have been in so much pain... so much suffering... Everyone really liked the “Coat of Happiness” that you and I made for the school festival. I will never forget you. I heard that the principal presented you with a high school diploma. So we graduated together—all of us. Jun-chan, no more pain, no more suffering. Please calm down …

Furuta's prospective future employer gave her parents a uniform that she would wear in the position she applied for. The uniform was placed in her coffin. At the end of school, Furuta's school principal presented her parents with her high school diploma. The place where Furuta's body was found is now Wakasu Park.

Concrete

The terrible fate of Junko Furuta has not only disgusted but also fascinated people around the world. In 1995, a film called “The Case of the Murder of a High School Girl in a Concrete Shell” was released. Her death inspired many storylines in anime and manga.

Based on this crime, a film was made in 2004 called “Concrete” (“Schoolgirl in Cement”); directed by Hiromu Nakamura.

At least three books have been written about the crime.

Her death inspired many storylines in anime and manga.

In 2006, the Japanese rock band the GazettE recorded a song entitled "Taion" (Body Temperature), dedicated to the memory of Junko Furuta.

In 2012, synth-pop artist Mr. Kitty released the song "44 Days" dedicated to the memory of Furuta.

For reference, here is the court document in Japanese, if you can read that language. https://www.courts.go.jp/app/files/hanrei_jp/261/020261_hanrei.pdf

During the scumbag trial and Furuta's funeral, a roughly hour-long documentary was made about Furuta's murder. You can watch the documentary here

From 27:55 to 28:40 in the video, a reporter approaches Miyano's mother to question her about Furuta's murder:

Reporter: “Can I talk to you for a minute?”

Miyano's mother: "Could you please not disturb me?"

Reporter: "So, we heard that none of the boys' parents apologized to Miss Furuta's parents for the crime."

Miyano's mother: "Sorry."

Reporter: “Have you contacted Miss Furuta's parents yet? Can we hear from you any thoughts or feelings that you would like to convey to Miss Furuta's parents?"

Miyano's mother: "I don't think I can."

Reporter: “Have you contacted her parents?”

Miyano's mother: "Could you please not disturb me?"

Miyano's mother: *runs away from the reporter, gets on her bike and rides away*

From this we see that Miyano's mother gets very annoyed when people ask her about this.

Mentions of Junko Furuta in popular art and culture

Furuta's story shocked the people of Japan and many people outside of this country to the core. The first feature film about the fate of the unfortunate girl was shot in 1995 by her compatriot, director Katsuya Matsumura. In 2004, another master of Japanese cinema, Hiromu Nakamura, dedicated a film called “Concrete” to Junko. Both films show the torture and murder of a girl quite harshly. Such a story cannot be forgotten or ignored, but still such a movie is not recommended for impressionable people. In memory of Junko Furuta, a manga was created and a song was recorded. Murders are committed regularly in Japan, but the story of this girl will forever remain in the memory of every Japanese. This crime is shocking in its inhumanity and unreasonable cruelty, as well as the lack of motive. It is difficult to believe that this murder was committed by ordinary young people who were declared sane by a psychiatric examination.

Version of one of the readers.

It was a rite of passage for the Yakuza. These Yakuza kids had to do this to demonstrate their loyalty and prove that they put the interests of the Yakuza above their own empathy. They also do this to desensitize themselves to killing so that they can easily take on the Yakuza's enemies without any restrictions.

"Cannibal Otaku" by Tsutomu Miyazaki. Tsutomu Miyazaki. “Little Girl Killer” 18+

This is essentially the Japanese version of spirit preparation or "care cremation" (an allegorical banishment of worldly concerns for members of a particular group). Those in power need to do things like this to desensitize themselves to norm exploitation.

Since then, the Yakuza have changed their methods and become more careful not to get caught. Now their people for experiments are raised from birth in top-secret breeding institutions. They are used for organ harvesting, human trafficking, brothels or pinsaros, milkybars, JAV slaves, as well as victims of the aforementioned murder desensitization ritual (much like our Elites do this too).

Modern Junko Furuta will never have a personality, they will never have names. Nobody cares about them. Many have never seen a tree or sunlight or spent a single day on the surface of the earth. There is no one to file a missing person report. There is no one who will look for the body.

The criminal referred to the thirst for profit

Shiraishi did not even think of stopping - on September 16, he raped, strangled and robbed a 19-year-old student, on September 24, he raped, killed and robbed a 26-year-old woman, on September 28, a 17-year-old schoolgirl, and on September 30, another 17-year-old schoolgirl. On October 18, the killer lured a 25-year-old woman to his place, who, unlike other victims, entered into an intimate relationship with Shiraishi of her own free will. However, this did not save the unfortunate woman - the Twitter killer strangled her too. Five days later, he dealt with a 23-year-old girl, after whose murder the criminal was detained.

In just two months, Takahiro Shiraishi committed 9 murders. It’s hard to even imagine what scale the list of his victims could have reached if CCTV cameras hadn’t helped identify the villain.

“The Zodiac says...” The mystery of the Californian killer cannot be solved for 50 years.

During the trial, a paradoxical situation arose - the lawyers insisted on the fact that most of the victims themselves spoke about death, dreaming of ending their lives, and Shiraishi only fulfilled their wishes. But the defendant argued with defense attorneys, saying that he acted for selfish reasons. He assured the court that immediately after meeting, he borrowed money from the first victim and killed her so as not to pay it back. Shiraishi stated that in subsequent cases, he was driven to murder by the thirst for profit.
