History of appearance
Krasnopresnensky Park has an interesting and ancient history. It began several centuries ago, giving the country a monument of art. Previously, this place was not a recreation area, but an estate called “Studenets”. In some sources it also goes by the name “Trekhgornoe”. The property belonged to the family of princes Gagarins.
The year 1790 was significant in the history of the park. After all, it was at this time that Dutch ponds appeared. It was no coincidence that the estate received its name. One of the streams in the past was called Studenets and was known for its extraordinary strength.
The estate changed owners more than once during its existence. But this did not prevent it from preserving many important historical values. Therefore, in the park you can continue to admire the network of canals with ponds, picturesque alleys, and unique landscape. Many famous personalities strolled along the paths of the park, including even Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. Officially, Krasnaya Presnya has been welcoming its visitors since 1932.

History of the park
The Krasnaya Presnya Culture and Recreation Park, which has been preserved from the ancient Studenets estate, is a monument of landscape gardening art of the 18th-19th centuries of federal significance.
The name of the estate comes from the Studenets stream, which flows along Krasnogvardeisky Boulevard and from the Studenets well of the same name, famous throughout Moscow for its excellent water.
In the 18th century, the Trekhgornoye country yard belonged to the Gagarin princes. M. A. Gagarin made a garden “in the Dutch style” with artificial ponds, which became known as Gagarin Ponds.
After the death of the childless prince, the estate went to his sister Anna and her husband, Privy Councilor Count D. M. Matyushkin. Subsequently, “Studenets” belonged to their daughter Sophia, who was married to Count Yuri Mikhailovich Vielgorsky.
In 1816, their son Count Matvey Yuryevich sold it to the merchant N.I. Prokofiev, after whom the estate passed to Count Fyodor Tolstoy and, as a dowry, went to the daughter of Count Agrafena, who in 1818 became the wife of the hero of the Patriotic War, General A.A. Zakrevsky.
As the Moscow governor-general, Zakrevsky built a beautiful house here in the 20-30s of the 19th century and erected monuments to the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812, built according to the design of the architect V. P. Stasov.
In 1932, a park was created on the site of the estate and Garden of the Studenetsk School of Horticulture. Some of the ponds were filled in when the park was created, but new bridges in the Empire style appeared. Previously, there were also sculptures of commanders here, now lost.
Based on a photograph from the 1930s, discovered in the archives, in 1998, restorer architects A. S. Koroleva and N. F. Zhurina recreated the entrance gates of the park.

Literature can be selected at a special stall. And although you can only enjoy literature in the fresh air in clear, cloudless weather, since this is hardly possible on a rainy day, nevertheless there are always a lot of people who want to do it.

But in 1974 the masks disappeared, and the fountain has not worked since then.
At the end of the 1980s, in connection with the construction of the 2nd stage of the WTC, the fountain-pavilion building was moved to a new location several tens of meters to the west.
Despite the fact that almost 100 years have passed since the founding of the park, the natural ensemble of the park has been preserved almost in its original form - arched bridges, ancient alleys and picturesque ponds, all this has remained here, however, over time, elements of modern infrastructure have also appeared in the park.
Among the sights of the past there is also an ancient linden alley and the remains of a Tuscan column placed on a cubic pedestal, decorated with swords in sheaths and wreaths on four sides.

By car
From the Moscow Ring Road
It is more convenient to get to this park in the following way: first move along the successive Marshal Zhukov Avenue, Mnevniki Street and Zvenigorodskoye Shosse, then make a smooth exit onto 3rd Magistralnaya Street, and then turn left onto Krasnogvardeisky 1st Passage. At its intersection with Mantulinskaya Street, you should immediately turn right to enter the free parking lot, organized specifically for park visitors.
If you are planning a route from the Garden Ring
, then it is better to first drive along Novy Arbat, then turn smoothly to the right before the Novoarbatsky Bridge and, passing the building of the Government of the Russian Federation, turn onto the street. A deep alley, and then move successively along Rochdelskaya and Mantulinskaya streets all the way to the park. The entrance to the parking lot will be 115 meters from the main entrance.
Metro
The closest stations to the park are:
- “Exhibition” (Filyovskaya line, blue color). It is located approximately 800 meters from the park; at average speed this distance can be covered on foot in 10 minutes. To do this, you first need to get from the metro exit to Krasnogvardeisky 1st passage. The reference point at this time can be the central exhibition complex Expocentre, which should be located on the right side of the pedestrian. Having reached Krasnogvardeisky 1st passage, you need to turn right and walk along it for about 400 meters to the park. To enter its territory, all you have to do is cross the pedestrian crossing, turn right and walk another 25 m.
- “Street 1905 Goda” (Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line, purple color). In this case, the most convenient way to get to the park is to take bus No. 12, which you will need to take at the stop located on Presnensky Val Street, 80 meters from the metro entrance No. 1.
- "Krasnopresnenskaya" (Circle line, brown color). The fastest way to get from this station to this park is by taking bus No. 4. To get on it, you need to walk 100 meters from the metro entrance No. 1 in the direction of Zamorenova Street, where the desired stop is located.
Presnensky Children's Park
Presnensky Children's Park is an area for family recreation in the Presnensky district of the capital. A small cozy park with an area of 3 hectares is located directly behind the Russian Government House.
Presnensky Park is well landscaped and has a lot of greenery. The arboretum is based on centuries-old linden trees. Poplars, oaks, lilacs, rowan trees and maples also grow here.
Along the entire perimeter of the Presnensky Children's Park there are sculptures of heroes of famous fairy tales and cartoons, animal figurines, and chess pieces. In the park, the children will meet Baby Mammoth, Chernomor, an old man with a goldfish and an old woman at a broken trough, Crazy Squirrel, the Loch Ness Monster, Tortilla the turtle, the King and Queen from “Alice in Wonderland,” the cheerful boar Pumba, etc.
On the territory of the facility there is a well-equipped children's playground with slides, rope ladders, swings, and a sandbox.
The park's pedestrian alleys are shady and very quiet. Here you can sit in a gazebo or on a bench under a beautiful original lantern.

In Presnensky Children's Park there is the Holy Cross Chapel - an elegant structure made of solid timber with a golden dome. The chapel was erected in memory of the events of October 1993.
Story
Before the revolution, one of the buildings of N.P.’s manufactory was located on the territory of Presnensky Park. Shmita, which was engaged in the production of furniture. Despite his status as a manufacturer, Shmit fully supported the workers and considered the revolution a benefit for the country. Nikolai Pavlovich's factory turned into a base of revolutionary forces. The entrepreneur supplied the workers with special literature, armed them, and taught them the strategy of street fighting.
In 1905, Presnya became the center of confrontation between the army and the revolutionaries, and the core of the rebel forces were Shmit’s troops. Soldiers loyal to the government could not take the barricades. As a result, artillery was used, the factory was destroyed, after which the Cossacks dispersed the workers. Shmit was arrested and died in prison in 1906.
In 1936, the building of the old furniture factory was demolished, and in its place a large park appeared, which received the official name Children's Park of the Krasnopresnensky Children. On a large territory there were many clubs, a puppet theater, a library, a circus, a stadium, and an open stage.
The next renaming of the park took place in 1948: it was decided to name it in honor of the pioneer Pavlik Morozov. The territory was supplemented with new objects: a monument to Pavlik, the Pioneer House, a shooting range and a swimming pool.
In 1978, the building of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR began to be erected near the park. As a result, the recreation area was greatly reduced, and most of the park buildings were demolished. In 1991, the facility was renamed Presnensky Children's Park.
Currently, the park cannot boast of its large size or unique amenities. This is a quality city park for family recreation. Adults can relax on benches under spreading linden trees and play sports in an area specially designated for this purpose. The children will have fun playing on the playground and exploring the numerous sculptures.
