Reports, photo reports: exhibitions of the International Doll Salon in Moscow

The organizer of the “Autumn Salon of Author's Dolls” Svetlana Pchelnikova 15 years ago conceived and implemented the first exhibition in Moscow, which to this day does not lose its popularity, but on the contrary, attracts and gathers the most famous artists, collectors and a large audience on one site. Each exhibition of Svetlana is always distinguished by its sincerity and unforgettable atmosphere. And this is no coincidence, because dolls are not just toys. As Svetlana notes: “An author’s doll is a synthesis of several types of art: painting, sculpture and costume design.”

Traditionally, at the Autumn Salon, everyone can take part in Svetlana Pchelnikova’s charity project “Doll Parade for Children”. Funds from the sale of designer dolls and toys from the Parade’s special stand will go directly to treatment for children, as well as to funds with which the exhibition has been cooperating for many years.

XI Moscow International Exhibition “Doll Art”

The long-awaited exhibition “Doll Art” will take place this time in February – February 19-22, 2021.

For the first time, the exhibition will be held for 4 days!

The 11th exhibition of designer art collectible dolls and Teddy bears in Gostiny Dvor is a large-scale event where hundreds of artists come and bring their best and newest works.

Every journalist asks: “How many dolls will there be at the exhibition?” The number of works cannot be counted. These are tens of thousands of art objects, from miniature dolls and bears measuring 1 cm to full-length exhibits. The scale and composition of the exhibitions of the works presented is impressive - all types and trends of modern and antique dolls, designer toys and Teddy bears.

Spectators will see ancient puppets of the Khiva Puppet Theater and articulated “puppet glamors” of the 21st century; industrial toys of our childhood and avant-garde art objects in which doll elements are already present quite conventionally.

author of the doll: Alexandra Kukinova

Alena doll // author: Anastasia and Sergey Lutsenko

Porcelain luxurious beauties will be presented - an absolute ideal classic - and ironic characteristic characters, like frozen moments of our lives in dolls; viewers will see interior, theatrical and cartoon dolls.

authors: "AnyaManya"

“DOLL ART” is an event where the loudest discoveries, the most sensational sales, and the most important meetings of the year take place.

Traditionally, organizers zone the exhibition space into art projects, an art exhibition-fair, and an area of goodness: a charity event.

This year's thematic projects include:

– Dolls of Baroness Sylvia Weser. A unique collection of porcelain dolls by the German artist-baroness, who passed away in 2021, which will be shown to admirers of her talent by a Moscow collector. Sylvia Weser's dolls are made of precious Limoges porcelain; they are valued all over the world and are in private collections, where they are practically inaccessible to the general public.

- “Architikdolls.” Another premiere of the exhibition. Evgenia Bet from Moscow has prepared a series of puppet objects that are played not with hands, but with meaning. This is a naive fantasy about animating real-life architectural objects, endowing them with the ability to feel and perceive. Each object is an allusion to a specific historical building in the capitals of the world.

– “Porcelain masterpieces.” A project of the legendary Vakhtanov Puppet Gallery by Irina Myzina, who stands at the origins of all puppetry art in Russia. This time the gallery will present a collection of luxurious and rare porcelain dolls, the most valuable and unique works collected over the past 25 years.

– The School of Puppet Design is 20 years old and its founder Lana Letta, together with artist-teachers and artist-graduates, have prepared several exhibitions for the anniversary.

– “Procession of the Magi”, a multi-figure puppet composition – the author’s project of Lyubov Lukyanchuk and the creative studio “Coast of the Winds”. Spectators come to the exhibition of L. Lukyanchuk on purpose - as if they were attending an independent exhibition. This year, a team of authors has prepared a new project based on the fresco of the same name by Benozzo Gozzoli from the Chapel of the Magi in the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi in Florence. Work on a multi-figure project was organized as a learning process. Under the leadership of L. Lukyanchuk, almost 30 authors, both beginners and accomplished masters, worked on creating the project for a year.

The appeal of modern artists to the Early Renaissance is due not only to the beloved theme of the arrival of the Magi in Bethlehem. The procession of the Magi to the star under which Jesus will be born and bring love, peace and prosperity to the world is not only a wonderful Christmas story. Amazing in its beauty and scale, Gozzoli’s work contains historical and mythological allusions and meanings that are relevant today.

– The Adams Family Doll House, artist Tatyana Ovchinnikova . Dimensions 1900x1620x820. The house is located on a high stand and viewers will be able to look into each of the 17 rooms, where 16 characters from the famous comic book and film will live their paradoxical lives, thanks to working mechanisms and lighting. A rotating wall, a “Peeping Portrait”, “Instruments of Torture”, a shooting catapult, an “Iron Maiden”, a miniature railway and many other wonders that both adults and children will be curious to see.

– “DollEdification” is a project of the collaboration of the Elena Gromova Gallery, the Art Doll Section of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, and the creative association DollArt.ru. Artists consider playing with a puppet in the literal sense (puppet), as playing with a doll, acting with a doll as an art, science, craft and even magic. In this project, the authors allowed themselves to play with dolls with all the seriousness characteristic of creative and carefree people, and try to give this game the features of a serious process, a “systematized miracle,” fully aware of the groundlessness of their claims and the impossibility of obtaining a real result.

– Premiere of a new festival – “PetrushkaFest” . A loud, bright fair with elements of a booth and puppet theater performances; folk dolls and toys, competition “Folk Doll 2021”.

The Territory of Good - the charity area of the exhibition "DOLL ART" is dedicated to the "DREAM LEAGUE" Program of Sergei and Natalia Belogolovtsev . This year, the All-Russian therapeutic sports program, renamed from “Dream Ski” to “Dream League,” has been helping children and adults with cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, genetic and autoimmune diseases to believe in themselves and start playing sports for 8 years.

The 20 projects of the art zone of the exhibition continue with a huge territory of creativity - an art fair of dolls and Teddy bears from all over the world. Yes Yes! Despite the closed borders, the exhibition will feature works from different countries - sent by mail, transferred by chance - so we have every right to call our exhibition this year INTERNATIONAL!

“Faith” // author: Mikhail Zaikov

Khabaray Khatan // author: Namdakov family

Guests of the exhibition will have the opportunity to buy works by artists of different levels and price ranges, educational literature, materials for creating dolls and bears, accessories, gifts for spring family holidays, take pictures with unique dolls, which after the exhibition will end up in private collections and disappear from view forever public.

The exhibition is addressed to a wide range of viewers, families with children of different ages.

Tickets can be purchased in advance on the art dolls.rf website.

Special flight from the USSR: Mishka Kosolapy will come to Tishinka to celebrate the New Year

Collectors are hunting for mechanical Soviet bears. These toys are especially highly valued: a bear with a pacifier, a bear with a spoon, a bear that eats ice cream, and a real star of its time - a bear playing the balalaika. In the 40-50s of the last century, these toys created a real sensation.

Soviet giant bear. Bears know how to surprise not only with their cost; at the exhibition there will be the largest representative of the Soviet plush family - the height of the clubfoot is 1.10 cm, everyone will be able to take a selfie with this brutal rarity.

Record holder for congratulations. Mishka Clubfoot is a gallant comrade, he most often became the hero of Soviet postcards and congratulated citizens of the USSR on them. The organizers could not ignore this fact and created an exhibition of antique postcards with a clubfoot.

Parade of Santa Claus toys. Mandatory and indispensable on any Soviet Christmas tree is a toy Santa Claus - made of wood, cotton wool or papier-mâché. As part of the Hello Teddy exhibition, you will be able to look at the evolution of the Soviet Father Frost.
