Turgoyak, lake

Pilgrims of Turgoyak.

We will talk about an ancient geographical map, and it will be started by the famous book writer Nadezhda Anatolyevna Kapitonova in Chelyabinsk:

“I knew Lydia Borisovna Libedinskaya, I often visited her in Moscow, and she came to us in the Urals five times. Two years ago, through me, she donated to Chelyabinsk the death mask of Yuri Libedinsky by Ernst Neizvestny. At the same time, Lidia Borisovna told me that she had another exhibit that she wanted to give to the South Urals, but could not find it yet. This is a map.

A map of Lake Turgoyak was given to Yuri Libedinsky back in 1956 by Nina Konstantinovna Balmont-Bruni, the daughter of the poet Konstantin Balmont and the wife of the artist Lev Bruni. Yuri Nikolaevich immediately took the card in a frame under glass and hung it above his bed. The gift was dear to him.

Time has passed. Somehow, already without the owner, the card was dropped and the glass broke. Lidia Borisovna rolled it into a tube, hid it somewhere and lost it.

At the beginning of May of this year, I called Lydia Borisovna. She was already 85 years old. She invited me to Moscow for the promised card, but she said not earlier than May 18: “I will be in Sicily.” She returned on the evening of May 18, told her friends about the trip, handed out souvenirs... In the morning she did not wake up.

I finally came to Moscow, for Libedinskaya’s anniversary, but without her. And she turned to her daughter, also Lydia, but Yuryevna. She knew about the promised card and gave it to me.

At first it was not clear to me what relation the Turgoyak map had to the poet Balmont and the artist Bruni. But I dug into the sources, and something was explained. The young artist Lev Bruni, arriving in the Southern Urals in 1917, found Ekaterina Alekseevna Andreeva-Balmont, the wife of the famous poet, here with her daughter Nina. Mom brought her daughter to the Urals to show her, who grew up abroad, Turgoyak, Miass and the Russian wilderness in general. They wanted to spend the summer on Turgoyak, but the revolution began, then the civil war, and they had to stay for three years.

It so happened that Lev Bruni fell in love with Nina Balmont and wanted to marry her. But Nina was only sixteen years old, and her mother did not give her up, she told her groom to leave and wait at least a year. Bruni left and returned a year later. Then they got married in Miass. Here their first son, Ivan, was born.

Lidia Borisovna later, in Moscow, was familiar with the Bruni family, she writes about this in her book “The Green Lamp”. In particular, she recalls how in the winter of 1940 Vanya Bruni - yes, the same one - invited her to his mother Nina Konstantinovna’s birthday party, who was already 39 years old.

and she was pregnant with her seventh child. “There was a lot of things in this house: children and grandmothers, paintings and books, poetry and music, hospitality and selflessness.” It is worth mentioning that Ivan Bruni fought in the Patriotic War, was seriously wounded, and after the war he became an artist with the prefix “folk”. Let me mention that his illustrations for their books were highly valued by A. Tvardovsky and Em. Kazakevich.

Balmont himself came to Chelyabinsk only once, in 1916, to give lectures, but, according to A. Shmakov, not very successfully: he allegedly stood too high and did not know the realities of life. Balmont promised many times to come to Turgoyak to visit his family, but he never came.

As you can see, everything is interconnected. Libedinsky loved Turgoyak very much, he writes about this in the book “Education of the Soul”. I have already said that the card was given to him in 1956, and two years later, in honor of his 60th birthday, he gave himself a gift: he came to Turgoyak with two daughters, one of them was Lydia Yuryevna. The names of Libedinsky, Balmont, Bruni came together on Turgoyak... And not only them.

About the map. Noteworthy are the handwritten notes. “Bathroom”, “English Park”, “Dugout”, “Nuns”, “Lingonberry Place”, “Raspberry Place”, “Blueberry”, etc. But I will especially highlight the note “The dacha where Ninochka lives.” Who could say that? Probably only young Lev Bruni, who is in love with Ninotchka. And this means that the map dates back to 1917, when the young people had not yet linked their destinies.”

Well, the map of Turgoyak. And what? Is there any moral?

There is morality. And not alone.

You can, as usual, shake your head: how long ago it was!.. A long time ago. All of them, these people, except Ivan and Lydia, are from the nineteenth century. They are contemporaries of Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky. So? So. But... Do you know when Nina Konstantinovna Bruni-Balmont died? In 1989, at the age of 89. And her son Ivan - in 1995. Ekaterina Alekseevna left this world at the age of 83 in 1950, already, so to speak, “with me.” Balmont himself passed away eight years earlier, in 1942. And what? That was a long time ago? A long time ago, of course. But only recently.

You can ask yourself: who are these people? Like who? Almost an ideal person. Are there better ones? So beautiful, so sweet, so subtle, so educated, so well-read, so well-mannered, tactful, kind, sympathetic, understanding and forgiving... Languages, music, voyages abroad, salons, opera boxes, delightful romances by the open window, teas on the veranda , French rolls on the table... So what if Konstantin Balmont, being in “geographical strife” with his wife and daughter, promised them to come to Turgoyak, and at that time he was taking Elena Tsvetkovskaya, his second wife, around Russia with him. After all, he is a poet, and “a poet has his own paths, his own destiny, he is always more of a comet than a planet”... And Ekaterina Alekseevna endured, waited, understood and forgave her husband.

But one day everything will collapse. And the social storm, essentially innocent of anything, will begin to sweep them around the world, bring them down from heaven and reduce them to poverty... The capital's guests of Turgoyak were able to set off on their return journey only in 1920. We spent four months traveling across the whole of Russia in freight cars, stood at junction stations for three weeks, and ended up - where? - in Kherson, where they languished for a whole year and only reached Moscow in the fall of 1921...

It would seem that the progress of mankind only comes down to expanding the circle of such people, so that ultimately everyone becomes like that. But one day workers and peasants will be placed next to them. These dark, rude, ignorant people who know nothing but hard physical labor. And they will say: they are better than you, not you, but they are the masters of life. Fair? No. There is nothing to talk about here. It is enough to shift your gaze from one to the other. But these French rolls on the table... The same ones that, it seems, Leo Tolstoy was the only one of all who was embarrassed. But he also could not leave his circle, his class.

The last moral. Then, a hundred years ago, and now we have nothing that would have a “metropolitan price.” Nothing but Turgoyak. The pilgrims of Turgoyak are a very long list. Thanks to the guests, they made us understand what Turgoyak is. Whatever, they knew a lot about beauty. They, spoiled by the beauty of the Alps and Switzerland, traveled two thousand miles to the Urals to see and show our Turgoyak to their children.

Fishing on Lake Turgoyak: Chud whitefish, pike, perch, golden crucian carp, silver crucian carp, chebak, tench, gudgeon, trout, ripus, burbot, ruffe, ide

Direction from Ekaterinburg: Chelyabinsk Distance from Ekaterinburg (range): 100-200 km How to get there:

We reach the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk region, from it we leave through Mashgorodok onto the Zlatoust highway, then 3 km to the west and we are in the village of Turgoyak.
There is a beach and parking here. On SUVs you can drive to the water, going around the lake from the north side. To get to Vera Island, you need to drive south from the village of Turgoyak along the highway towards Zlatoust. We drive 6 km after the stele with the elk, turn right along the asphalt road to the lake. After 1 km, having gone around the camp on the left, we turn right and after 1.5 km we go to the shore with a parking lot, a yacht club and a pier. A catamaran goes to the island and recreation centers from the pier, and here you can sign up for an excursion. Maximum depth: 40m Maximum length and width (km): diameter 6 km.km Height above sea level: 320m Wild recreation: in tents and in a car. Cultural recreation: there are several recreation centers and children's camps on the banks. In the village of Turgoyak there is a cultural beach with a parking lot. Islands:
The largest island in the lake is Vera Island (55°09'39''C 60°01'56''B).
It received its name in the 20th century in honor of Vera, who escaped from an unwanted marriage and founded an Old Believer monastery on the island. The length of the island is 0.7 km, width 0.4 km. It is divided into 3 zones, different in vegetation, archaeological sites and climate. For example, with a northerly wind it is cold on the northern coast of the island, but on the southern one you can sunbathe and swim. The contrast between the zones is noticeable even in satellite images. The stone caves of the island in the 21st century were recognized as megalithic (grave monuments and sanctuaries), their age is about 5,000 years, the weight of individual slabs is up to 17 tons. The island also has an ancient granite quarry, a large portal dolmen, the remains of a monastery and an outcropping with a cross. Every summer archaeological work takes place here. Fee: Free Bottom: the bottom is rocky, small pebbles predominate in the eastern part, and scatterings of large boulders in the western part. Fish: In summer you can fish both from a boat and from pontoons and piers on the shore.
The best places for catching carp and predators are around the islands and grassy bays. In winter (on the first and last ice) fishing is possible along the entire perimeter of the lake: in shallow water (6-12 m) they catch perch, pike, and chebak; at a depth of 25 m - whitefish and ripus. By the way, the greatest chance of catching whitefish is during the day, and ripus at night. A comment:

News from June 26, 2012 “In the Chelyabinsk region they began to clean water bodies of poacher’s nets.”
Geographic coordinates: 55°09'15''C 60°06'31''B Settlements on the shore: the village of Turgoyak on the eastern shore. Features:
Turgoyak is one of the largest lakes in the Southern Urals, located in a deep basin between the Ural-Tau and Ilmensky ridges, northwest of the city of Miass.
The banks are high and steep, the western coast is indented with capes and bays. Contains more than half a billion tons of pure fresh water. The International Limnological Commission included it in the list of the most valuable reservoirs in the world.

Ecology

Recently, the environmental situation on Turgoyak has worsened. The reason for this is the strong anthropogenic load. In the summer, the reservoir is actively visited by vacationers, who leave behind mountains of garbage - it decomposes in the coastal zone and ends up in the water; in addition, the lake is polluted by domestic wastewater from bases and cottages (there is evidence of an unpleasant odor in the water in the summer). Thus, there has already been a decrease in the level of water transparency from the previous level by at least three times. Until now, the reservoir has never “bloomed”; now, in the summer, unicellular algae have appeared in it, which indicates the degradation of the lake ecosystem.

How to get to Lake Turgoyak

The closest city to Lake Turgoyak is Miass.

The distance between Miass and Chelyabinsk is 106 km. If you decide to get to the lake by public transport, then the most convenient way to get there is by bus. The route lasts about 2 hours. Ticket price – from 259₽.

The distance between Miass and Yekaterinburg is 231 km. Travel time by bus is about 5 hours. Price – from 500 to 600 rubles.

The distance between Miass and Ufa is 322 km. The bus takes just over 7 hours. Ticket price – 622₽. You can also get from Ufa to Turgoyak by train.

The distance from Miass to Turgoyak is 12 km. You can get to the lake from the Miass bus station by bus No. 391. The final stop is the village of Turgoyak. It is located on the eastern shore of the lake.

Adjacent to the village is Mashgorodok , which is considered a remote area of Miass. Remember this name. If you are going to the lake, for example, in a Bla-bla-car, then it is more convenient for you to get off at Mashgorodok, before reaching Miass.

Attractions

Archaeological sites of the island of Vera

Located near the western shore, “Vera Island” (which had the original name Pinaevsky and is an island only in high water, but in dry years it is connected to the mainland by an isthmus) is famous for the fact that there are several archaeological monuments on its territory. The most famous and important of them is the megalith complex dating back to the 4th millennium BC. e. Also nearby is an ancient quarry of approximately the same age, and several other structures (archaeologists counted 40 objects in total). It is also worth mentioning the “youngest” of the island’s attractions - the remains of an Old Believer monastery, which was built in the 19th century.

Where to live on Lake Turgoyak: in a hotel, at a recreation center or with a tent

The tourism infrastructure of Turgoyak is quite well developed. Here you can stay in a comfortable hotel with its own swimming pool, restaurant and even a spa center, or in a budget camp site, or simply in a tent camp. We'll tell you about all the options.

Most of the recreation centers, guest houses and hotels are located on the eastern shore of the lake. There is also a village here, which is called Turgoyak. If you came to Turgoyak by public transport and do not want to spend money on a taxi, then it is most convenient for you to settle here.

Here, for example, in the Turgoyak boarding house (yes, the locals are not very creative with names). The price of a triple (there is no smaller) room in the building is 3600 RUR per night. If you come on vacation with a large group, then you can rent a cottage - from 10,000 to 14,000 rubles. And the price for placing a tent on the territory of the boarding house is 500 rubles on weekdays and 1000 rubles on weekends per day. But – honestly – it’s not worth it. There are quite a few people here: in addition to tourists, locals come here to relax. If you come with a tent, it is better to spend money on a taxi and go somewhere else.

If you want to live in the village, then, as an option, you can rent an apartment. Prices vary: from 850₽ to 6000₽ per night. For example, a studio (accommodates 4 people) overlooking the lake will cost you 4,500 RUR per night.

On the outskirts of the village there is a three-star hotel “Krutiki”. Rooms – from 3850₽.

The most popular and fashionable vacation spot on Turgoyak is the Golden Beach club-hotel. On its territory there is a hotel of the same name, an apart-hotel "Turgoyak City" with rooms and cottages, restaurants, a spa center and a lot of all kinds of entertainment. But the most important thing is the sandy beach, which is rare in Turgoyak. The cost of a holiday is from 7600 RUR in a standard room to 12700 in a Luxury apartment.

Another option for a “civilized” holiday on Turgoyak is the Forelka recreation center, which is located on the southwestern side of the lake. Room rates range from 4500₽ to 7500₽ per night. Tourists can enjoy a Finnish sauna, a Turkish hammam, billiards, a restaurant, boat rentals, catamarans and yacht trips. It’s quieter here than on Golden Beach, but there are still quite a few people.

Another entertainment center is the Turgoyak Chalet. Wonderful pretty houses on the shore of the lake, costing from 5,000 rubles to 15,000 rubles per day.

Well, those who want to combine relaxation with treatment can live in the “Pearl of the Urals” sanatorium. The sanatorium has a general health profile, but the main healing factor, of course, is Lake Turgoyak, the waters of which contain a concentration of radon that is beneficial for the human body. Plus - therapeutic baths and mud, massages, herbal medicine and even a health path. Let's add to this a swimming pool, a gym, a library, billiards, a cinema hall and other entertainment. In general, all this sounds very attractive, don’t you agree? The cost of a trip for one adult with accommodation in a standard room and basic treatment is 4300 RUR per day.

Tent camps on Turgoyak

Now about accommodation with tents. The most popular direction among “wild” tourists is precisely the southwest of Turgoyak, starting from the “Regional Tent Camp”, then moving west – “Pugachevskaya Polyana” and all the way to the already mentioned “Forelka”.

The quietest place is just the “Regional tent camp” : the entrance to the lake is gentle, the surface is sand and small pebbles. There are gazebos, toilets, and the “organized” rest at the “Turgoyak Chalet” is 5 minutes on foot.

“Pugachevskaya Polyana” is noisy (very), the coastline is a cliff (there are ladders for descending into the water). But there is a large parking lot and even a cafe shop where you can buy water or eat pilaf.

If you exert yourself a little more and walk further away, there will be fewer people, the shore is flat again, and you can even place a tent right next to the water. And it's worth it, believe me.

In theory, they also charge a fee for placing a tent at a campsite: somewhere around 150₽, somewhere around 300₽ – depending on whose territory you’re staying on. But where exactly this pleasure should be paid for is unclear. For example, two nights in a tent camp on Turgoyak did not cost us anything.

Fishing on Lake Turgoyak

  • Types of fish: ruff
  • perch
  • gudgeon
  • roach
  • ide
  • tench
  • whitefish
  • ripus
  • pike
  • rainbow trout
  • lake trout
  • burbot
  • Artificial stocking: In the past, the lake was repeatedly stocked with ripus, Chud whitefish and lake trout. The first of them has taken root and is successfully reproducing; the situation with whitefish and trout is unclear; most likely their populations are insignificant. Also, according to some information, rainbow trout that escaped from a local cage farm are occasionally found in the reservoir.
  • Fishing spots

There are 3 places or areas on the reservoir that are interesting in terms of fishing:

    1. The entire western coast and the adjacent western and southern waters are places where the coastline is as indented as possible. There are several bays where aquatic vegetation develops here and there in the shallow waters in summer, and the bulk of the islands are also concentrated here. These places are the most interesting in terms of catching predators and carp species. The recreational infrastructure in these places is not as developed as on the opposite bank.
    2. The middle is the central part of the lake, depth from 20 meters. Whitefish are usually caught here. Closer to the southern coast (about half a kilometer north of Chaichie Island) there is a place with depths of 25-30 meters, where fishermen note the highest concentration of ripus.
    3. The entire eastern coast with the adjacent water area - in the very east there is a village, and most of the recreation centers are concentrated in these places. This area is mainly fished from boats.

    Fishing Features

If you have a watercraft, fishing on Lake Turgoyak will be noticeably more interesting than from the shore, however, the use of any boat motors on the lake is strictly prohibited (ban at the regional administration level). Also, in order to successfully fish in this reservoir, you need to know some of its features: the depths and places where fish are concentrated, and don’t be shy about getting to the most inaccessible places - where the recreational infrastructure is least developed, mainly on the western shore. By the way, local fishermen, who know Turgoyak like the back of their hand, prefer to fish there - in the bays and between the islands, and have very good catches.

The most commonly caught fish here are: at shallow depths (from 3 to 12 m) - roach, which at times comes quite en masse (especially small fish), perch, and on a spinning rod - pike. There was a rumor that they caught crucian carp, but most likely this was gossip - this fish does not appear in the reports. Previously, at depths of 25 m, ripus were regularly caught in large quantities, mainly on winter nights, attracting fish with light. It is still caught, but fishermen have recently noted a decline in the population of this fish.

Fishing bases, first of all, attract their clients with guaranteed comfort during their vacation. In addition to comfort, many bases provide services for organizing fishing, other types of recreation and recreation. Some bases, in addition to fishing trips, organize fishing competitions.

Small fish are traditionally released into the lake.

Recent studies have proven that Lake Turgoyak is becoming drainless - the increasing water intake of drinking water from the city of Miass and various health institutions located on the shore has begun to affect the water level in the lake. Deprivation of Turgoyak's flow could lead to an environmental tragedy and the destruction of this pearl of the Urals.

The problem of the ecological state of the lake also includes riding ATVs and motor boats at recreation centers and sanatoriums, despite the ban.

    Recreation centers

Nowadays, the shores of Lake Turgoyak are literally “overgrown” with numerous recreation centers - their number is gradually increasing, and there is also a brisk trade in land plots in the coastal zone.
