Zaryadye Concert Hall - event poster and ticket information

General information about the concert hall in Zaryadye

Zaryadye Concert Hall is a large multifunctional complex. It is unique and currently the only one in the entire territory of Russia in terms of its acoustic and technical parameters. At the same time, according to experts, it is not inferior to the world's best concert halls.

Zaryadye Park

During the design, it was decided to move away from the classic version of building structures of this type. Both the stage and the rest of the concert hall space can be transformed in preparation for the performance in accordance with the plot and technical necessity. This allows the complex to be used for events of various genres: multi-genre projects, opera performances, classical music concerts, etc.

Purpose of the concert hall

Concert Hall
The organizers of the complex announced at the first stages of construction that not only classics, but also modern musical genres would be played on the territory of the Zaryadye Concert Hall. One of the potential promising areas was the development of children's creativity. For this purpose, it is planned to conduct various educational programs for young singers and musicians. As part of their work, seminars, lectures, meetings and master classes of performers of various musical genres, interactive concerts and the study of modern technical innovations aimed at improving the sound quality of concerts will be organized.

The small hall has a capacity of 400 people. It will be used during seminars, forums, educational programs, experimental programs and other musical cultural events.

The program of the concert hall will be as diverse as possible, so that both children and adults can find something for themselves. It is already booked 12 months in advance, and tickets were put on sale several months before the opening of the complex.

Information about the hall

History of Zaryadye Park

Zaryadye Park was built on the territory that was previously occupied by the Rossiya Hotel and the adjacent complex of buildings and structures. However, the history of this place is much more extensive and interesting.

Before the revolution, Zaryadye was the name given to the area located between Vasilievsky Spusk and Red Square (on which at that time there were shopping arcades). It was an area with very dense residential development. The Zaryadye buildings were the closest housing to the Kremlin - from their windows you could see Red Square.

Zaryadye is interesting for its unique environment and the authentic atmosphere of old Moscow. There were few buildings in the area that were particularly valuable from an architectural point of view.

In 1964-1967, the area was completely destroyed during the construction of the Rossiya Hotel: not even the foundation remained of the ancient buildings.

The hotel, in turn, stood on this territory until 2006, when the authorities decided to demolish it. A huge box-like structure defaced the city center. Until 2012, Zaryadye was a wasteland with a huge amount of construction waste. When discussing the plan for the development of this territory, it was proposed to restore the historical appearance of the area, however, the project was considered inappropriate.

The Moscow authorities have come to the conclusion that the placement of residential buildings on the territory of Zaryadye will increase the already heavy load on the infrastructure of the center. As a result, it was decided to build a park and entertainment area in this place.

Europe's largest organ

In the summer of 2021, the installation of an organ began on the territory of the Zaryadye Concert Hall. The instrument will be large in size and consist of a mobile console with 4 grills (32 keys), 4 manuals (61 keys), 85 registers. This is one more than the organ installed in the House of Music. It has no analogues in all of Europe.

French craftsmen undertook to make the instrument. In the spring of 2018, they transported the first batch of parts to Russia, and installation began in July. The organizers plan to fully complete the assembly and setup of the organ by the end of 2021.

Acoustic tuning

Good acoustics are required for high-quality sound transmission. To set it up in the Zaryadye Concert Hall, it was decided to involve the Japanese professional master Yasuhisa Toyota. He has about 50 projects of concert and theater halls around the world.

Yasuhisa Toyota began his work by creating an exact copy of the concert hall, reduced by 10 times. When the mock-up was completed, human mannequins with built-in microphones were placed in it. All this was done in order to check the reverberation of the hall. Only after 6 months of constant testing and repeated inspections did specialists begin finishing the hall in accordance with the instructions of the acoustic designer.

As a result, all surfaces of both halls are equipped with special acoustic panels. Solid mahogany wood was chosen as the base for the walls and ceiling. A special cedar was chosen for the floor. It is this that maintains the sound at the required level, providing reverberation and good acoustics. Oak parquet is installed on top of it.

It is worth noting that all visitors to the park will be able to enjoy the concert performances held in the halls. The introduction of online viewing systems is envisaged for them. All this was achieved through the use of modern high-tech equipment.

Embankment in Zaryadye

During the construction of the park, restoration of the Moskvoretskaya embankment was carried out. Using an underground tunnel, builders connected the embankment with Zaryadye. Tourists get to the river directly from the park area.

The height of the embankment was reduced and excellent stairs were built, fully equipped to accommodate disabled people. As a result, an additional walking area was created where tourists can relax on benches, sit in a cozy cafe, or take a ride along the Moscow River on a boat or river tram.

The developers' careful attitude to space was even evident in the design of the tunnel, which became a real museum. In the tunnel, guests of Zaryadye will see archaeological and paleontological rarities found by builders during excavation work in the park. Among the exhibits is a unique treasure of ancient coins, birch bark letters, weapons, and household items of Muscovites of the 16th-19th centuries.

With the help of the Museum of Moscow staff and historians, the park’s creators restored part of Velikaya Street, the main street of the Zaryadye district. The model is located in the passage leading to Moskvoretskaya embankment.

Classics: the best concerts of the week

Who is playing: Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Mariinsky Theater conducted by Valery Gergiev, soloists Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, Irina Churilova, Yuri Vorobyov,

What's playing: G. Puccini - "Turandot".

Why go: The culmination of the Mariinsky's current opera landing in Moscow is Puccini's Turandot. The beauty of the melodies, exquisite harmonies combined with the original use of “Chinese” flavor, the richness of the orchestral colors, the scale of the choirs, the vocal parts of the two main characters designed for outstanding performers (Netrebko and Eyvazov!) - we will hear all this in the Zaryadye Hall. And we will not only hear, but also see. There will also be costumes, set design elements and mimance; It would be hard to call such a performance a concert. The opera, which Puccini considered his best work, will appear before the capital's public in its best form.

Where, when, how much: Zaryadye Concert Hall; February 21; 15,000 - 30,000 rub.

Who is playing: The Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra and Choir conducted by Valery Gergiev, soloists Ildar Abdrazakov, Vladislav Sulimsky, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Migran Agadzhanyan, Sergei Skorokhodov and others.

What's playing: G. Verdi - "Macbeth".

Why go: Unusual for Italian opera, the plot of Macbeth with its atmosphere of ominous darkness and cruelty keeps the audience in a state of ecstatic excitement and requires good dramatic acting from the singers. The stars of the Mariinsky Theater fully meet this requirement, and their vocal abilities are even more beyond doubt - Ildar Abdrazakov alone is worth it! Maestro Gergiev will transfer Verdi's opera to the Zaryadye stage in a version close to the stage version, making maximum use of orchestral, choral and visual means to create a grandiose fresco.

Where, when, how much: Zaryadye Concert Hall; February 20th; 1,300 - 6,000 rub.

Who is playing: National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia conducted by Vladimir Spivakov, soloists Anna Aglatova, Polina Shamaeva, Mikhail Gubsky.

What's playing: D. Shostakovich - Symphony No. 9, Cycle "From Jewish Folk Poetry", Suite for Promenade Orchestra.

Why go: Unexpected in the first months after the war, a tragic-satirical pamphlet instead of a monumental opus glorifying victory - this is how contemporaries saw Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony. How maestro Vladimir Spivakov sees her, we will find out at this concert. The vocal cycle “From Jewish Folk Poetry” and the Suite for Promenade Orchestra will complete the first program from the “Symphonies of Dmitri Shostakovich” series. An hour before each concert in the Small Hall of Zaryadye, musicians, journalists and musicologists will talk about the symphonies of the great composer.

Where, when, how much: Zaryadye Concert Hall; February 17; 1,200 - 3,000 rub.

Who is playing: Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Mariinsky Theater conducted by Valery Gergiev, soloists Mikhail Petrenko, Roman Burdenko, Irina Churilova, Andrey Popov, Sergey Skorokhodov and others.

What is playing: R. Wagner - “Die Meistersinger of Nuremberg”, Act III of the opera (in concert performance).

Why go: A complete performance of Die Meistersinger of Nuremberg (excluding intermissions) lasts four and a half hours, a format that is awkward for a concert performance. As a compromise, the final act of Wagner's opera will be performed in Zaryadye. Beautiful melodies will flow in a wide wave, set off by recitatives full of restrained pathos. Among Wagner's latest creations, "Die Meistersinger" is noted for its special freshness, richness, and full-blooded music. Who better than Maestro Gergiev to teach it as a true revelation.

Where, when, how much: Zaryadye Concert Hall; February 19; 1,200 - 6,000 rub.

Who is playing: Moscow chamber orchestra Musica Viva conducted by Alexander Rudin, soloist Ailen Pritchin.

What is playing: A. Vivaldi - “The Seasons”, J. Haydn - Symphony No. 45 (“Farewell”).

Why go: Clearly, the textbook program, which includes Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, is designed to please budding classical buffs. On the other hand, the laureate of the competition. Tchaikovsky Ailen Pritchin is a bait for sophisticated music lovers. “It is obvious that he is gifted with an outstanding musical culture that goes far beyond instrumental skill,” wrote violinist Bruno Monsaingeon about this. Not everyone is capable of playing the famous “red-haired monk” series in a unique way. All the more pleasant will be the discovery that novice classical lovers and sophisticated music lovers will make at this concert.

Where, when, how much: Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky; February 19; 800 - 4,000 rub.

Photo: Moscow State Academic Philharmonic

Who is playing: The State Orchestra of Russia named after E. F. Svetlanov (conductor Andrey Boreyko).

What's playing: R. Wagner - Overture to the opera "Die Mastersingers of Nuremberg", P. Hindemith - Concert music for strings and brass ("Boston Symphony"), D. Shostakovich - Symphony No. 10.

Why go: Wagner's Overture to Die Meistersinger of Nuremberg captivates with energy and humor. Hindemith's Boston Symphony exudes sublime detachment and exquisite beauty. And finally, Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony - a wealth of feelings and ideas, extreme intensity of feelings and a timid waltz in the finale. The State Orchestra of Russia, under the leadership of Maestro Yurovsky, has made a giant step forward over the past years and today is able to give the best it can with any conductor. Especially with someone as extraordinary as Andrey Boreyko, who has been collaborating with famous orchestras around the world for many years.

Where, when, how much: Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky; 18th of Febuary; 1,000 - 2,000 rub.

Photo: Moscow State Academic Philharmonic

Who is playing: National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Russia named after N.P. Osipov (conductor Evgeny Volchkov), Yulia Rutberg (artistic expression), Vocal trio “Relic”.

What's playing: Works by A. Scriabin, F. Poulenc, G. Fauré, romances based on poems by S. Yesenin and F. Sologub.

Why go: Actress Yulia Rutberg, together with the world-famous Osipov Orchestra, turns over the pages of the amazing life of Zinaida Gippius. “The Star of Russian Symbolism,” together with her husband Dmitry Merezhkovsky, significantly influenced the mindset of pre-revolutionary Russia, and after his departure, the Russian emigration. The one-man show will feature poems and prose by Gippius, as well as music by Scriabin, Poulenc and Fauré.

Where, when, how much: Philharmonic Hall-2; February 21; 400 - 700 rub.
