Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vladykino
- parish Orthodox church of the Sergius deanery of the Moscow diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Moscow district of Otradnoye, in the former village of Vladykino (until 1653 Velyaminovo). Federal architectural monument. The modern building was erected in the 1850s, but the construction of a stone church on the site of the current one began already in 1770.
Story
The first church in honor of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (replacing the dilapidated St. Nicholas Church) was built here around 1627, when the owner of the village was Prince Ivan Ivanovich Shuisky.
In 1653, the village became a patriarchal patrimony and received the name Vladykino. On May 19, 1690, Tsar Peter Alekseevich visited Vladykino and, together with Patriarch Adrian, prayed at the liturgy in the village church.
The first stone church was built in 1770; the bell tower was erected by Count K.G. Razumovsky, the owner of the neighboring village of Petrovskoye.
In 1854-1858, the church was completely rebuilt by the architect A.F. Yaroshevsky. In 1859, the new three-altar church (with the side chapels of Archangel Michael and Archangel Gabriel) was consecrated; The main altar in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was consecrated by Metropolitan Philaret (Drozdov).
During Soviet times, the temple was not closed for worship.
In the 1970s, there were plans to demolish the temple during the construction of an overpass at the beginning of Altufevskoye Highway, but parishioners managed to save it.
From the history of the Nativity Church on Altufevskoe Highway
The stone temple appeared in 1770. Count Razumovsky, who at that time owned Vladykino, erects a bell tower and a chapel near a well with holy water (the chapel will be destroyed during the Soviet period).
In the mid-19th century, the shrine became very dilapidated and required major reconstruction. By and large, it was necessary to build a new building. Funds for construction were donated by G.M. Tolokonnikov. In addition, Gavriil Matveevich himself took an active part in construction work.
The design of the new building was carried out by the architect Yaroshevsky. In 1859, the new building was consecrated.
According to the project, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Vladykino was supposed to become quite impressive in size. However, the abbot managed to convince everyone that there was no need for this, because the parish of the temple was small. In addition, there were concerns about whether Tolokonnikov, due to his advanced age, would have time to complete the work he had started.
The fears turned out to be not in vain: soon after the consecration of the church, the temple builder passed away.
The shrine on the current Altufevskoye Highway was made in the eclectic style. The two-height quadrangle is adjacent to the apse from the east, and the refectory and bell tower to the west. The corners of the building are made in the form of semi-columns. Stands with keel-shaped kokoshniks rise above the corners.

Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vladykino history
The Vladykino district of Moscow was once the village of Velyaminovo. For a long time, in this village there was a wooden church dedicated to St. Nicholas.
During the Polish-Lithuanian devastation, the temple was desecrated. As a matter of fact, there was nothing left of the village at that time. Soon the village went to Ivan Ivanovich Shuisky. It was Ivan Shuisky who built a new church in Velyaminov to replace the dilapidated Nikolsky - and with a new dedication, to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary . The temple, changing its appearance more than once and even being moved to another place, has invariably retained this dedication for centuries.
In 1764, Catherine II carried out the secularization of church lands, and Vladykino became part of the state property department. The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vladykino by this time had been moved from its historical place to the opposite bank of the river, and in 1795 it was again dismantled and moved again - now to where the stone Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary now stands.
