Catch Me If You Can. Where to fish in Voronezh
Today we offer an alternative holiday away from the crazy city - with a boat, bait and tackle. Our friend Vladimir Bichev told us about fishing places. He has been handling a fishing rod since he was three years old and knows well where the best bite is near the city and where he needs to go to feel like a tough Norwegian fisherman.

Reservoir
It’s nice to fish here from the washed-up sand near the Vogressovsky Bridge, but you only need to cast your fishing rod 100 meters away. The further you cast, the more impressive the result you’ll get. You can also go fishing under the Chernavsky Bridge from the embankment - you can easily get here by public transport or by bicycle. Here you can find crucian carp, bream, carp, silver carp and roach. It is best to fish with feeder gear. In Tavrovo it is more convenient to fish from a boat, since shallow depths with a sandy bottom go very far into the water, but after that there is a flooded oak grove - a favorite place for large carp and local fishermen.
Lake Bolshoye
In fact, it is not very large and even shallow - the average depth is about 3 meters. The place itself is very beautiful. There are cozy banks overgrown with reeds and water lilies. Among the fish you can catch here are roach, perch, pike, crucian carp and bream. One of the advantages is the proximity to the city, but if you are traveling in a large group of men, so that later you have something to remember and can boast about your catch, drive past this lake, my advice to you.
Voronezh River
From Ramon to the Lipetsk region there are a lot of interesting places for fisherman. And it’s better to go there now, because in the summer you may be disturbed by crowds of vacationers and tourists. To catch pike, catfish, ide or perch here, it is best to use a spinning rod. In Ramon, near the bridge over the Voronezh River, there are many places along the shore where you can find convenient approaches to the water. Upstream, between Lopatki and Glushitsy, there are excellent places for spinning in Karachun. Not far from Shilovo, just downstream where the Voronezh and Don rivers intersect, there is a good hole for 7 meters. It is best to fish here from a boat.
A very long river with good banks for family holidays and picnics with friends. This is a good place for children. With a float rod, a child will be able to catch little things and please his parents while they are relaxing in nature. There are many convenient approaches along Veduga from where you can catch crucian carp, perch and roach. But for avid fishermen the place will be, to put it mildly, boring. The fishing rod will not bring any surprises. But the children will be happy.
Voronezh Reservoir Dam
From the dam to the Don there are many interesting places where there can be big fish for predators - pike perch, catfish, perch, and herbivores - bream, crucian carp, roach. It is better to throw towards the riverbed and use bottom tackle. Driving a little further along the river, you will find yourself in “Pants” - the place where the shipping canal and the spillway converge. This is a great place for fishing. And if you drive a little further north, you will find Shilovskoe Lake. It is more convenient to fish here from a boat. You can make a great catch, but there are a lot of nets, so you need to be careful. A few years ago you could fish right under the dam and catch 10 kg of fish in 3 hours. I saw with my own eyes specimens weighing 20 kg.
There are a lot of places suitable for fishing with different bottom and shore topography. The fish come out mainly from 6 pm to 9 am. The species diversity is very rich, and you need to know specifically what you want to catch in order to select the right gear and bait. But the main key to success on the Don is luck or bad luck. The most popular and closest to the city are Krivoborye, Shilovo and Gremyache. In Shilovo you can hook a big fish. It’s better to come to Yamnoye overnight - the catch is almost always decent. Krivoborye is a stunning place, especially at sunrise and sunset. If you have time to take a place among the local fishermen, you can catch large pike perch, bream and catfish. Below the village of Gremyache there are large holes - good places for trolling and bottom gear. Although there is a risk of catching flooded trees. Not far from these places there are also Zhirovsky Lakes - a favorite place for poachers. Plus, you can get spikes on all four wheels here, so be careful.

Fishing spots in the Ryazan region
Along the entire length of the Oka River in the Ryazan region there are places where you can fish. There are quite a few such places, because many small rivers flow into the Oka, and in addition, there are a number of places where fishing is quite comfortable.
The region is rich in shallow, narrow rivers, which many fishermen like, as it allows them to fish on foot, moving from place to place. But mostly visiting fishermen prefer well-known places.

Spassky district near the village of Panino
Fishing near the village of Panino can be a discovery even for an avid fisherman. Fishing has been done in this place since ancient times, which, however, had little effect on the number of fish. The fisherman’s main problem will be getting to the fishing spot, since wild fishing will require going further inland.
In bad weather, only an SUV can drive here. In addition, in rainy weather the fish do not bite here well, and this is also worth taking into account.

Today I fished on a small lake near Shilovo from 07:00 to 10:00. The lake looks like a flooded sand pit. I've been here before, I only fished from the shore. By summer, part of the lake was completely overgrown, and pikes were frolicking in the grass with might and main, I could only lick my lips from the shore. Today I was with a boat and was hoping for a pike. Only in the last two or three years the situation has changed somewhat. I headed towards the algae thickets, only there were no thickets there yet. I still found a pike there, and on a popper (3D-Yo-Zuri). One bit, but was not detected, the other was caught. Then he sailed to other points. The pike stood along the shore on dumps. Previously, there were not many, but a lot of active bass in this lake, and a size of 100 grams could be considered average. Today's perch were 50-70 grams, all caught on poppers. The spinners and spinners didn’t bring a single bite today, so I tested a wobbler-popper-walker set of baits recently purchased from Balabanych. Sergey, thank you! Today there was a pike and two perch on the 3D-Yo-Zuri popper, two bite attacks on the Yo-Zuri wolf with the wolf being thrown out of the water, I caught it with another wobbler. Agarron 110 - three pikes, three more were caught while fishing. Excellent wobbler. The size of 110 mm does not bother the pike at all. There was even a capture of a “super-small” specimen (it was released).
There was every chance to catch more, but time was limited.
Today I went fishing with my brother-in-law. For the first time in his life, he caught with a spinning rod, in about five minutes he figured out the casting, and most importantly, he “scored a quick goal.” During the morning he caught three perch and one pike. So now there is one more spinner.

Let's assume it's secret. The reservoir is very close to the road, although you have to walk about a hundred meters. The main use of the reservoir is swimming and active recreation (kebabs, boozing, etc.). The contingent of visitors is such that over the last three years that I sometimes go there, the amount of garbage (not on the beach, but in all the surrounding bushes) has grown depressingly. Thanks to the local residents, they blocked the entrances to the lake with log blocks, otherwise a car wash would have been added there. And the need to drag belongings these hundred meters scares off some vacationers, fortunately there are alternative bodies of water around. The Shilovsky district is good because there are plenty of places for fishing and recreation on the water. And the Oka, and its tributaries, and many floodplain lakes. This lake is small, the previously “tasty” bays were overgrown with grass so that it was impossible to place nets there; the open areas, of course, are blocked by nets that are laid by the aborigines from the village adjacent to the reservoir. I visit this lake only when passing through to visit Shilovo, i.e. maximum 1-2 times a year, and so far I have never seen spinners there, only village boys stand with fishing rods. As soon as the reservoir becomes popular, submariners will come for the spinners. Then the children who float will have nothing to do there. The reservoir is often closed even during a flood, so pressure can significantly worsen everything.

hmm...is the pond artificial? Can you see it from M-5? Is there a settlement very close by? If that's what I thought, I'm surprised there's a pike there. There is crucian carp, but few people have caught it lately..

Well, I went to this reservoir in 2015. I fished on it yesterday, 07/04/15 from 07:00 to 11:00. Fished with a partner. The impressions from this fishing trip are sad. There are no fish. The reservoir is local. The water level is 30-40 centimeters lower than in previous years. Where previously bushes stood close to the water, new approaches to the water have appeared. There is much less grass. In past seasons, the bays were completely overgrown, right up to the surface, and the local “hungry” people did not have the opportunity to set up nets. Yesterday there were no networks. A couple of “TVs” were floating near the shore, but it is clear that this is so, the children are in an accessible place, next to the swimming entrances. But the fish were practically gone. There is no perch, which was in abundance, and organized such races as I have never seen on any other Ryazan reservoir, there is no pike, which was found in very decent quantities, there is no roach, which was caught on float tackle. There are no nets - there is nothing to catch in them. There are no floaters, but children and grandfathers have always been on this pond. In three hours I exhausted a perch bite and a drop in the grass and one exit of a small pike on a wobbler. I saw how it darted, but didn’t take it. No, formally I left zero.
There are incredibly many of these little fish, the size of half a match, in this reservoir. Almost along the entire coast, and near every island of vegetation. But no one bothers this fry. I would like to believe that I am mistaken, and the entire predator fell asleep when we appeared, but until I receive reliable information that fish are being caught there again, I will not go there again.

The water, like the last seven years that I’ve been going there to swim, is clean. So clean that in the conversations of underwater hunters I heard intentions to visit this body of water. The depth in the middle is about 7 meters, there is sand at the bottom. Visibility in the sun is more than a meter. I swam this time too, the water was invigorating, but very pleasant. I saw few vacationers. At 07:30 a young lady came to swim purposefully and swam for half an hour. At 09:00 a young lady came to sunbathe, and lay sunbathing even after we left. . At 10:30 a family, grandfather and mother, and two preschool children arrived and stayed for a swim even after we left.

Oka from Shilovo to Kasimov
The further we get out of Moscow in search of interesting fishing spots, the more disappointing it is to end up with nothing. If you are not satisfied with this prospect, there are time-tested, reliable, fish-rich places. For your attention - two such places on the Oka near the city of Kasimov, Ryazan region - for fishing from a boat for the period from July 10 to August 10. There are sections of rivers that abound in fish over a considerable distance. Every turn is “super”. Every hundred meters there is a “point”. Such places enjoy well-deserved fame among fishermen and are never empty. In principle, this is not critical. There are enough “points” and fish for everyone.
Kopanovo. Ryazan Oblast. Oka River between Shilovo and Kasimov. Jig spinning. The difficulty in describing the best fishing spots on this section of the river is that you can catch fish almost everywhere here. The difference is in the number of fish...
Three kilometers from the village of Svinchus, upstream from the Oka, the Niverga channel separates. The right bank of the Oka, opposite, is a gathering place for fishing tourists. How they manage to survive in these bushes among mosquitoes is a mystery to me, but apparently it has something to do with fish. The catches are wonderful. Ignoring the opinion that fish should be looked for on the border of the “streams”, or on dumps into the pit (or even at some distance from it?), it is imperative to fish the epicenter of the pit.
One kilometer below the “source” of the Niverga, closer to the right bank, there is a longitudinal edge more than a hundred meters long. In contrast to the solid depths at the “source”, here it is frankly shallow, but this is good in its own way. This is a different place.
Turn of the Oka half a kilometer from the Uvyaz River along the inner radius. A gentle sandy slope means the presence of fish is regular. Each sharp sandy turn downstream is promising in its own way. The easiest way to avoid difficulties in such places is to cast the bait from the shallows to depth.
One hundred meters of the right bank of the Oka from the confluence of the Uvyaz River. Fishing from a high clay bank is convenient. Conclusion: having a motor BOAT allows you to fish from any SHORE in places remote from each other.
I’ll note right away that I skip some quite “powerful” places, meaning not so much the variety of plot and recreation on the water, but rather the achievement of a high result. Opposite Kopanovo - at the red buoy and “below” (from the shore) about two hundred meters - a very strong place, and almost all-season.
Five hundred meters below Kopanovo, under the left bank, there is a “local hole”. Such inconspicuous places can be very good, and not only on the Oka.
Two kilometers below Kopanovo, in a turn, from the red buoy along the right bank of the river, from a boat. As if “behind the roll”. Sort of like “pits”. In terms of bite stability, I recommend it. From here to the mouth of the stream flowing below the camp site there are sparse tents of fishermen who have chosen the well-ventilated open river bank as protection from mosquitoes. One of the most confusing places is located here, opposite the cobbled-together boat pier. According to fish concepts, this is the entrance to the pit. A typical but widespread case is that the most impatient “tails” do not stay at the real entrance, but somewhat ahead.
Attention! In this section of the river, in high water, the fish stay in the “returns” under the bank. Right next to the shore.
"Mouth" of Niverga. Someday the world championship in spinner fishing will be held on Niverga. But on the “arrow” they catch it with a jig, still throwing it into the Oka. Or along the Oka. Fishing along the edge on the Oka gives the best results with good and even better bite.
Over the next three kilometers, the Oka flows to the north, once again proving that a straight line without groins is a straight line without fish. What else could be on the straight line? A working dredger? Rocky island?... There is none of that here.
Before the turn, in the area of the red buoy. There are few people who want to fish here with spinning rods. Few - due to the “inadequacy” of this place. The plot is Akhtubinsky (macro scale), and the fish are just like on the Oka.
In the turn itself, long and deep, if you have strong fishing skills “from the sand”, you can and should try to “knock down” an asp or catfish.
The “mouth” of Tolpega is a convenient place, so there is no space here. As soon as it is free, try to occupy it for fun.
Almost here, but on the right bank, with the boat positioned at -3.5-4 meters, opposite the beginning of the island and higher. You adapt to the traction and catch it. One hundred percent. In the meantime, you visually check the availability of places at the “mouth” of Tolpega.
Two kilometers below the island, two steps to the oxbow lake (on the right). Above and below the red buoy. Better - a little lower and a little luck. The fish are fine here.
If you go into the oxbow and press to the left, you can see a solid hole on the echo sounder, and if you make a couple of casts under the right bank, you will almost certainly catch the net. Sign: if you were sailing on a boat, you stopped, were about to cast a spinning rod, and a figure of a man appeared on the shore, staring in your direction. If you are deaf or wearing a winter hat, if you are blind or did not notice a rubber boat off the shore, you will either be left without a twister or caught in the net.
To, if possible, protect yourself from nonsense, you should not join this loser on the shore. You need to doubt yourself a lot, or not doubt it at all. Fish with a jig spinning rod. For those who still doubt it, it’s a win-win option.
Shcherbatovka, 30 km from the city of Kasimov, without a direction indicator. Baranovsky proran... Stop! Error... Kamensky roll. There are places on the Oka that attract fish from afar, “blooming” against the background of outright pallor around. There is such a settlement above Shcherbatovka - Sosnovka (from the word pine). And there is such a river below Shcherbatovka - Moksha (from an unknown word). In Sosnovka, of course, it doesn’t bite, and it doesn’t bite even 10 km below. The same 10 km from Moksha does not bite upstream of the Oka. In this very place, between Moksha and Sosnovka, there is the Kamensky rift (“Kamenka”). That's where the fish are. One and a half kilometers of all the pleasures. Cars and tents (a small number) are located right on the rift, boats are located right there - on the contrary, very chaotically. Lots of seagulls, buoys, perches, underwater rocks and fish. There are tons of fishing options. It even bites on a wobbler. It pecks at night, pecks in the morning, pecks during the day. In the evening, apparently, it also bites. On the shore there are all fishermen. Scooters - no. Mobile communication is working. There is every reason to visit these places. There is no reason not to write about them. There are many such places and fish there. Like dirt...
