The Serebryany Bor ecological park is an artificially created island with beaches, ancient trees, a beautiful lake and a pine forest, in the shade of which it is pleasant to cool off on a hot day. The park is located in the Khoroshevo-Mnevniki area, surrounded by the Moscow River and the Khoroshevskoye Straightening Canal. A bridge stretches across the canal, connecting the park and Marshal Zhukov Avenue.

The total area of Serebryany Bor is 328.6 hectares

Accurate data on the origin of the name of the park has not been found, but there are several legends. Some associate the appearance of the word “silver” with the name of the Silver Prince of Moscow, with the mining of silver in the waters of Lake Bottomless, others with silver moss growing in these places, but not a single version has been proven to date. Most likely, everything is much simpler, and the forest is called silver for the sparkling snow and frost that covers the trees and ground in winter. Previously, the road to Zvenigorod passed through the forest. The travelers admired the beauty of the snow cover, and it seemed as if they were passing through a fairy tale kingdom.

In the 17th century, “Silver Forest” was the name given to the pine forest beyond the Moscow River. This forest has been preserved and today is part of the Serebryanoborsky forestry district, but is not part of the modern Serebryany Bor park.

Near the forest area there was the village of Khoroshevo, so the forest was given another name - Khoroshevsky Bor. These territories were royal possessions until the 20th century. In the 17th century, Russian Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich the Quietest loved to hunt falcons here. In the 19th century, in Khoroshevsky Bor there was an artillery park with the 11th Phanagorian Regiment.

In the first half of the 20th century, the Serebryany Bor cottage community was built, which also became a favorite place for recreation and entertainment for Moscow youth. And in 1937, the territory of the village was separated from

Far from the crowds of vacationers, Veteran Park is loved not only by pensioners. Families with children often come here to simply walk among the trees along asphalt paths, sit on benches and enjoy nature.

For a long time, this part of Serebryany Bor was empty, and Muscovites freely had picnics here. Over time, an initiative group of citizens influenced the creation of a landscape park.

The combat path of the 3rd Shock Army began from Serebryany Bor. It was here that it was formed in the winter of 1941. The memorial was erected in Veteran Park in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Great Victory. The artist A. A. Andreev designed the monument in the form of a rectangular stele, in the center of which there is a star with a hammer and sickle inside, and on the sides there is a map of the army’s military route and a tablet with historical data. On the holiday of May 9, wreaths and flowers are laid at the stele.

It is worth mentioning another attraction located in the vicinity of Serebryany Bor - the Zhivopisny Bridge across Marshal Zhukov Avenue and the Moscow River. The 105-meter-high cable-stayed bridge is visible from any corner of Serebryany Bor. What attracts attention is not so much the brightness and unusualness of the bridge, but the glass capsule at the very top under the arch. Initially, it was created as an observation deck, but not all points were taken into account for safe operation. Today (2018) the capsule is closed for repairs.

What to do in Serebryany Bor in winter

In winter, boron truly turns “silver”. Nature sleeps under the snow cover, which shimmers and sparkles in the sun. At this time of year, there is silence and tranquility in the forest, despite the fact that there are many who want to admire the “snow fairy tale”.

The wooden platforms of the ecological trail have been carefully cleared, a ski track has been laid in the forest, where photo tours are often held, and an ice skating rink has been installed on beach No. 2. On Epiphany there are ice holes for swimming on Lake Bezdonnoye.

Ski slopes are open in the area of Peskobaza - 5 kilometers, and the Big Forest - 1 kilometer.

The skating rink on Beach No. 2 is open on weekdays from 16 to 22 hours, and on weekends and holidays from 11 to 23 hours. Entry cost for children under 10 years old is 150 rubles, for adults – 300 rubles. An hour of skate rental will cost 250 rubles (deposit 1000 rubles). Prices are valid for the winter season 2017/2018.

Nudist beach

The nudist beach in Serebryany Bor has existed for quite a long time. At first, fans of an even and even tan were located in a small clearing in the forest. Now a small section of the coast, fenced off by a high fence, has received almost official status as a nudist beach. The beach is very poorly equipped, and it is difficult to classify it as civilized. The main visitors are older people with broad views on aesthetics.

There is a cafe and a couple of water and ice cream stalls. Volleyball is often played on the small volleyball court. The place here is not at all like the well-kept European nudist beaches. If you come here for a tan, it is better to position yourself further from the entrance, closer to the reeds on the left side.

Places for picnics and fishing

Moscow fishermen fell in love with Serebryany Bor for its large number of convenient fishing spots. The most popular of them are 2 - an artificial canal laid near the Khoroshevsky Bridge and Bottomless Lake, where fishing is officially permitted. You can use both regular fishing rods and reels, spinning rods, reels and other methods of individual fishing.

Equipment can be rented. Here you can catch ruffs, crucian carp, catfish, rudd and bream. You can catch both crayfish and pike in the lake.

The origin of the name “Silver Forest”

As the weekend approaches, Moscow residents begin to choose a place where they can take a walk, take a break from the noise and get some fresh air. Among the most attractive places for walks within the city is the famous Serebryany Bor. Here, in the coniferous forest, which has become a city park, it is good for skiing and sledding in winter, and in summer many beaches are officially suitable for swimming.

The origin of the name “Serebryany Bor” presumably dates back to the beginning of the 17th century, as did the nearby Arkhangelskoye estate. In documents dating from the era of the Time of Troubles, there is mention of the “Silver Ravine”. According to the chronicles, travelers passing through it were heading to the Zvenigorod Kremlin and the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery.

Silver forest was often called because of an unusual natural phenomenon. Pine trees in the summer at dawn are covered with dew. The bright rays of the sun reflect from the dense pine needles, making it look like a silver mirror polished to a shine. Now, due to the environmental situation in the city, this phenomenon has become very rare, but you can try to see it. The main thing is to get here before sunrise.

Serebryany Bor

With the coming to power of the son of the first tsar from the Romanov family, Alexei Mikhailovich, Serebryany Bor turned into royal lands for falconry. Later, a stud farm and one of the grenadier regiments of the Russian Imperial Army were located here. Before the revolution of 1917, there were magnificent colonies of herons and nesting grounds for falcons, descendants of the same hunting birds bred at the court of Alexei Mikhailovich.

During the Soviet years, this place became an island in the bed of the Moscow River due to the Khoroshevsky shipping canal, through which a bridge was built according to the design of the architect I. S. Fridlyand. A pier for passenger river transport was built on the embankment.

At the site of the swamp, favored by herons, sand mining was carried out. Subsequently, Lake Bezdonnoye was formed in this place. It got its name because of its great depth and artesian springs, which prevent the lake from becoming shallow.

Swimming areas

City authorities have been monitoring the improvement of the area for many years. Now you can rent a bike here and ride around the well-groomed area. Citizens have at their disposal more than 15 picnic areas equipped with barbecues, parks and alleys with benches and playgrounds.

In the summer months, people come to the territory of Serebryany Bor primarily to swim and sunbathe. There are several well-equipped beaches, both paid and free. Rospotrebnadzor allowed swimming in 2015 on the following beaches in Serebryany Bor:

  • Serebryany Bor-2 on Tamanskaya St., ow. 111;
  • Serebryany Bor-3 on the 4th line of Serebryany Bor.

Description of the island's territory, interesting facts

Serebryany Bor in Moscow, photos of which can be seen on many houses and posters, is a heaped island divided into 5 independent zones.

Namely:

  1. Third-party users (122.3 hectares).
  2. Reserve (84 hectares).
  3. Walking (78.7 hectares).
  4. Recreational (32.8 hectares).
  5. Administrative and economic (10.8 hectares).

The total area of the park is almost 330 hectares. The artificial island was formed during the construction of the Khoroshevsky straightening canal. All the sand dredged from the bottom of the canal was brought here.

Not far from Glubokoe Bay, which is located near Lake Bezdonnoe, there are 2 public gardens and 3 beaches, an ecological trail has been created with enclosures where rare animals live. The territory of Serebryany Bor has long been famous for its uniqueness and beauty. No wonder Tsar Alexei Romanov made this forest his hunting grounds with a falcon.

A small park, Veteran, is located away from the crowds of visitors. Pensioners love this place for its smooth asphalt paths and a large number of benches for relaxation.

The constant work of ecologists is visible on the territory of the pack:

  • New trees and shrubs are being planted.
  • Artificial nests are hung for birds.
  • New eco-paths are being formed.
  • Animal feeding points are being created.
  • Study tours are organized.
  • Information and warning boards are being installed.

The park has its own wastewater treatment plant, fire station, police station and parking for bicycles and electric vehicles.

Veteran Park

Serebryany Bor is famous not only for its beaches, but also for its excellent Veteran Park. Its vast territory has everything necessary for the relaxation of elderly people, parents with children and everyone who prefers a relaxing holiday.

Veteran Park

The park has many clearings with shady trees and benches. Classical music concerts are often given here on the open stage. On weekends, older Muscovites come here to dance and socialize on the round dance floor.

Natural attractions in the park

Serebryany Bor is engaged not only in recreational, but also in conservation activities, preserving rare species of animals, which in Moscow can increasingly be seen only in photographs. The park's flora includes more than 320 species of grass, 40 species of trees, and more than 30 shrubs.

In addition to the typical representatives of central Russia, you can find here Manchurian walnut, chokeberry, larch, fern and other plants uncharacteristic for this natural zone.

The park is home to about a hundred species of animals. These are representatives of the steppe and forest fauna - ferrets and hares, moles and beavers, otters and stoats, shrew hares. Birds here include herons and hawks, larks and nightingales, owls and shorebirds. You can watch the life of birds and simply admire the beauty of the island from above from the observation tower installed in the park.

To get acquainted with all the animal and plant diversity of the park, two ecological routes were created here - “In Harmony with Nature” and “At the Bottomless Lake”.

Restaurant "Estate" in the recreation area "Serebryany Bor"

The family restaurant “Pomestie” in Serebryany Bor opened in 2009. Two restaurant halls can accommodate up to 200 people. The large European Hall is cozy both in summer and winter. The Summer Hall offers a magnificent view of the Moscow River.

Restaurant Estate

The interior of the halls is made in classical European traditions. In the European Hall you can dine on comfortable sofas at large tables. In the Summer Hall, priority is given to minimalism and spaciousness. The second floor is dedicated to a children's room, which, if desired, can be turned into a VIP room for a small company.

The restaurant menu always includes excellent breakfasts, snacks and hot dishes. The smell of barbecue from an open grill, which spreads throughout the area, is especially mesmerizing. Nearby there is a children's playground with many climbing frames, slides and bird aviaries.

Story

Since the 17th century, the Khoroshevsky Forest Park was a falconry territory that attracted members of the royal family.
Ordinary townspeople had no access here. Only in the 2nd half of the 19th century a stud farm was opened here, which included forestry lands, as well as pastures and meadows. There was no island at that time, so the territory covered the entire peninsula. Construction of a canal for navigation, called the Khoroshevsky Straightening, began in 1937. At that time, the capital was implementing a large-scale watering project related to the need to increase the volume of transportation by water transport, as well as the problem of drinking water supply. The new canal became a continuation of the Moscow canal and stretched for almost 2 thousand kilometers. As a result, Serebryany Bor ended up on a real island. To connect with land, the Khoroshevsky Bridge was built, which turns into the highway of the same name.

The forest park gained its greatest popularity in the post-war years. In the 90s, the forest was declared a natural monument of regional importance, a passenger pier was built on its territory, and bases for rowing were equipped. Afterwards, Lake Bottomless was improved in Serebryany Bor. At the same time, the construction of dachas for officials and respectable holiday homes became popular. You can walk to the island for a walk along the Moscow River, which is why these lands are so highly valued.

According to one version, the name of the forest was not given by pine trees at all, but by a silver mine located near Bottomless Lake. There is a mention of it in historical documents of the 15th century.

Celebration organization

Serebryany Bor, due to its location within the city, is very popular among newlyweds looking for a place to celebrate their wedding. Corporate events and youth parties are often held here.

All Serebryany Bor restaurants and Uletai Beach are at guests' disposal. The organization of holidays here is carried out by several professional agencies that organize decoration and entertainment programs to suit the most demanding tastes.
