What safety equipment should be in a boat?

GIMS requirements for boat bases

The area of the water space where maneuvering and parking of water transport occurs is equipped in accordance with the standards. Boat bases are divided into types that must meet the requirements of the supervised inspection.

The water area of the base is fenced with dams, as well as signs and booms. The technical equipment of the water area provides round-the-clock parking, as well as safe reception of people.

Supply rules

It is important to take into account the GIMS requirements for equipping boats and small craft:

  1. Boats that are not equipped with characteristic signals that meet the requirements of the VWP are prohibited from operating in conditions of limited visibility and from sunset to sunrise.
  2. You cannot use vessels on which the ship's equipment and gear do not meet the standards specified in the ship's ticket (taking into account the current legislation of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on technical supervision of small vessels).

According to the norms and rules for supplying a boat during a GIMS inspection, individual life-saving equipment (lifebuoys, vests) on board the vessel with its number (name) must be painted orange and meet the requirements of safety standards:

  • All motor and sailing vessels should have several tools (including a hacksaw) for repairs.
  • According to the rules, vessels of class 1 and 2 have a compass (magnetic or satellite), binoculars, plumb line, barometer, anemometer and a map of the navigation area. Class 1 watercraft must also have means of communication (radio telephone and radar).

Classes:

  1. I - for sea areas - swimming in waves up to 8.5 m high, at a distance of no more than two hundred miles from the shelter and at a permissible distance of no more than four hundred miles.
  2. II – swimming on waves up to 7.0 m at a distance of one hundred miles and a distance of 200 miles between shelters.

Vessels used in pools of the fifth category are equipped with rescue bibs. Rental rowing boats can use 1 lifebuoy. The presence of pyrotechnic distress signals is not necessary if navigation takes place along a river, canals or lake, in which the craft cannot be more than 2 km from the shore part.

To ensure the safety of people and the reliability of ships, additional space is required, such as berths and office space. White lights are installed on the pier at a height of at least two meters from the floor every fifty meters.

Berths usually include fire safety devices and equipment that meet the following standards:

  • fire extinguisher;
  • lifebuoys;
  • a box containing sand and a shovel;
  • lifeline.

Shields with Alexandrov ends are mounted on the berths. According to the rules, kits must be installed every fifty meters of the berth line.

List of mandatory boat equipment

The most necessary accessories that every boater should remember are:

  • inflatable boat pump;
  • towing and mooring rope;
  • release hook;
  • electric torch
  • repair kit
  • oars with holders - they are necessary regardless of the presence of a motor, as a backup propulsion device;
  • Alexandrov's end (rescue ring with tench);
  • tarpaulin 1.5*1.5 m
  • anchor with devices for lowering and raising it;
  • drainage containers - a bucket with a scoop;
  • first aid kit
  • sound signaling device;
  • red fire flares (minimum 3);
  • parachute distress flares;
  • orange life jackets - according to the number of passengers and the boatmaster;

The lifejacket must be certified for use as a rescue device, be of an appropriate size, be comfortable and not restrict movement. It is necessary to have a whistle on the life jacket and, if possible, a flashlight. It is also advisable to put on the life-saving craft the personal information of its owner and the boat’s side number. In the cold season, it is convenient to use a float-type suit instead of a life jacket.

PVC motor boat equipment for fishing

To undergo the inspection procedure for small boats, you need to familiarize yourself with what should be in a motor boat according to the GIMS rules.

The range of components and accessories is conventionally divided into different groups:

  • anchors;
  • wheels;
  • navigation;
  • remote controlled devices;
  • fixation devices;
  • pumps.

A separate group includes components for the repair and tuning of motor boats. You can contact a company that allows you to install equipment in a short time for a low price. Having a spare propeller is especially important when going out on a boat early in the spring. It's like a spare part for a car; it helps out the owner of a motorboat. Properly selected accessories increase the service life by almost 2 times.

Equipping a small vessel for fishing according to the new rules is important and requires money and physical strength. The cost of the accessories often exceeds the cost of the boat itself.

There are various fishing accessories, and new devices appear every year to make the process more comfortable and enjoyable. If you have a boat, then sooner or later you will need to install devices. The list indicates what you need to have in a PVC boat with a motor for GIMS:

  • compressors or pumps;
  • suspended transoms;
  • seats;
  • transom wheels;
  • nose bags;
  • additional fasteners;
  • anchors;
  • awnings;
  • echo sounders;
  • saved. vests;
  • fishing equipment.

Each device and device has its own characteristics. The method of equipping inflatable boats for fishing depends on the preferences of the owner. But there are general requirements for equipping small vessels according to the GIMS rules. A fishing device makes the process more productive and enjoyable. This includes a scoop, a cucan and a landing net.

Compressor and pump

These units allow you to inflate a PVC boat in the shortest possible time. Using the foot-type option, which is equipped with all production models, you will need to spend more than twenty minutes, because... Constant monotonous movements lead to fatigue. And the compressor allows you to quickly solve the problem of missing pressure and saves electrical energy. Now these devices are offered in different forms:

  • with built-in batteries;
  • with the function of working from the machine network;
  • with battery.

This PVC boat equipment allows you to reduce pumping time, which is an important advantage.

Power unit

This is one of the most important devices for swimming and fishing in large bodies of water, in particular rivers.

All manufacturers recommend their maximum outboard engine performance - its parameters matter in how the PVC small boat will be further equipped.

Fishermen and hunters most often prefer outboard motors among foreign-made analogues. Japanese, Korean and Chinese outboard engines are more common.

Suspended transoms

This PVC fishing boat equipment is rarely supplied with the vessel when it is purchased. Hanging transoms are an addition that you can buy or make yourself. It is mandatory, especially when installing the engine.

Structurally, the products are presented in the form of a rigid plate. The most suitable thickness ranges from 16 to 22 mm. The T-shape of the transom allows it to be attached to a pocket in the boat structure.

PVC boat seats

Often fishermen resort to improving these components. Basic equipment includes plywood seats. The advantage is moisture resistance, but this option is not very practical.

To ensure comfort, fishermen usually use soft liners. With the help of special clamps they remain in place and do not go beyond the boundaries. For maximum comfort, owners can purchase ottomans or soft chairs.

Suspended (transom) wheels

Equipping the boat with suspended PVC fishing wheels saves energy and preserves the health of the owner.

Launching a craft into the water is fraught with many difficulties, especially when it is fully equipped. With a large weight of the vessel, the launching process and its duration become more complicated.

Transom wheels make the procedure simplified, eliminating unpleasant occurrences in the future. And these devices ensure that the vessel moves along the coast over long distances. There are several modifications of wheels on the market that allow you to choose the ideal option for a particular model.

Nasal bags

The nose bag provides compact storage of various items. It is suitable for equipment, food, ropes, anchors, etc.

Due to the fact that the bag is located in the bow, there are no inconveniences during work, incl. while fishing. When choosing, capacity and durability are taken into account.

Additional mounts

To keep oars and rods at hand, you need to use additional fastenings. This PVC motorboat equipment for fishing should be placed along the watercraft on cylinders. The fasteners on the mounts are universal and easy to use.

Echo sounders

With their help you can provide convenience and increase your catch. The devices are mounted on the hull of the boat, and the monitor provides monitoring of the situation in the water.

With the help of an echo sounder, it is possible to: study the bottom topography, determine the accumulation of fish and identify the most suitable place for fishing.

Anchors

The market offers different options, differing in weight and size. The choice depends on the characteristics of fishing and climatic conditions in the region where the fisherman is located.

Most often, an anchor is selected taking into account the following proportions: 1 meter of the length of a motor boat is equal to one kilogram of anchor. It turns out that for a three-meter vessel a three-kilogram anchor should be used.

Awning and life jackets

In order for the vessel to serve for a long time, you need to know how to properly equip inflatable swimming vehicles with awnings for fishing. These products can provide protection from environmental influences. There are different types of awnings:

  1. Nasal, covering the nasal part.
  2. Transport - designed for transporting and storing the boat.
  3. Running gear - used in the following areas: hunting, fishing, long walks.

What should be in a small PVC boat with a motor for GIMS? Experts answer, first of all, you need to buy life jackets. Even if you know how to swim well, they are a must. In another case, the GIMS inspector may issue a fine during the inspection.

The difference between PVC and rubber

Now let’s look at the differences between boats made of PVC and rubber?

Polyvinyl chloride

is a strong and durable material designed for 15-20 years of intensive use. The same figure for rubber competitors does not exceed five years. The strength of polyvinyl chloride is tens of times greater than the strength of rubber. The material is a polymer fabric consisting of two or more layers tightly bonded to each other. Unlike rubber fabrics, PVC fabrics are lighter and more compact. The polymer is not susceptible to bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms. At the same time, it is flexible, lightweight and folds compactly for transportation. When packed, the boat easily fits into a backpack - you don’t need a car to deliver it to your destination. Another important advantage of PVC boats compared to rubber boats is their resistance to aggressive media such as gasoline, oil, etc. PVC is also resistant to sunlight. Anyone who has used rubber boats knows well how quickly rubberized fabric cracks when exposed to ultraviolet rays.

Important!
The more layers of PVC fabric, the stronger the boat. PVC made from 5-7 layers has the highest strength indicators - such fabrics are moisture resistant, not subject to rotting and destruction, resistant to tearing and puncture, and resistant to petroleum products.

The main advantages of PVC:

  • mobility, maneuverability and good handling
    ;
  • compactness
    - easily fits in a backpack or in the trunk of a car;
  • versatility of use
    - suitable for any body of water: there are models that are even suitable for running down mountain rivers;
  • resistance
    to moisture, ultraviolet radiation, salt water, aggressive environments, low and high temperatures;
  • elasticity and flexibility of the material
    - does not change its properties and does not crack even after numerous assembly and disassembly cycles;
  • light weight
    ;
  • easy storage
    - does not take up much space;
  • environmental friendliness
    - polyvinyl chloride does not emit harmful substances, has no odor (unlike rubber);
  • affordable price
    .

Minuses:

More complex repairs and relatively high cost of PVC boats. Although there are simplified versions of PVC boats, the price of which is the same as the cost of rubber boats. There is another disadvantage, especially for inexpensive models made from thinner fabrics - this is sensitivity to high temperatures. For example, a burning cigarette can create a large hole in a PVC boat in an instant. To summarize, we can say that modern PVC products are perfectly suited for private use. They belong to the class of small-sized vehicles and differ in capacity, type of movement and other functional characteristics.

Lifebuoys for water transport

This product must be stored on a boat because... may be required in the following cases:

  • if a person is overboard;
  • for safe swimming in open space or other water bodies with strong currents;
  • when a boat or yacht breaks down, to save people on board.

Lifebuoys must contain plastic ropes that are firmly attached around the perimeter of the circle so that a person can easily grab onto them.

Basic requirements for life-saving equipment

Each lifebuoy on board must meet the following requirements:

  • Specific diameter. The outer one should be at least 800 mm, and the inner one - 400 mm. This is necessary so that a person, regardless of body type, can easily put the circle on himself.
  • Special material. The main material for many life-saving devices is plastic, as it is durable, buoyant and lightweight. Fixed circles can be made of polystyrene foam, cork shavings or reeds.
  • Non-flammability. To preserve the life and health of a drowning person, the product must not support combustion.
  • Buoyancy during the day. An equally important requirement for a rescue tool is the need to withstand an iron weight weighing 14-15 kg afloat in fresh water for 24 hours.

If you want to sail on a small motorboat, it is important to first check the equipment of the boat or yacht. If a discrepancy is found in at least one of the requirements of the lifebuoy, then problems are possible. To exclude them, you need to seek the help of a specialist in a trusted store that has a positive reputation and buy a high-quality rescue device.
