If one side of the river, the merchant side, went to bed late and got up late, too, then in Zamoskvorechye, as soon as it was light, artisans began work, opened shops, and so on.

Excursions

The festival organizers have planned 40 walks around Zamoskvorechye, which will be led by guides of the Moscow Stories project. Groups will be recruited every two hours, starting from noon and until 18:00 at the site in Klimentovsky Lane (near building 21, building 2). Anyone can join the tour; there is no need to register in advance.

The program turned out to be varied, each walk is dedicated to iconic places of this picturesque area of the capital. Thus, on the “Upper Gardeners” excursion, the guides will talk about the first settlements in the Berseyenevka area, which were inhabited by royal gardeners, about the construction of the Red October confectionery factory and the “House of free apartments named after the Bakhrushin brothers,” which was built specifically for widows with children and student students.

The Nizhnye Sadovniki walk will introduce participants to the warmest place in the capital - on Sadovnichesky Island, weather forecasters record a temperature anomaly. The guide will also tell you about an amazing building by the standards of the 18th century - the Kriegskomissariat. Architect Legrand did the unthinkable at that time - he turned the building with its façade facing the Moscow River. In Catherine’s time, the entire city gradually began to be rebuilt in this manner.

Excursionists will also learn all about the Vodootvodny Canal and visit the “Web of Zamoskvorechye”. The excursion is named so for a reason - all the streets in this area lead to one of two bridges - Moskvoretsky and Chugunny; previously the river could only be crossed here. Guests will walk to the Igor Talkov Museum and the Museum of the Moscow Archers in Lavrushinsky Lane, visit the Chambers in Sredny Ovchinnikovsky Lane and the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Kadashi, whose bells were always the first to ring on Easter.
