Program

Moscow Flower Show is a grandiose event that brings together amateurs and professionals of landscape design and park art from all over Russia and other countries. These are always great exhibitions, interesting master classes, and performances by professionals. The exact program of the Moscow Flower Show 2021 festival will be known closer to the date. In 2021, for example, the organizers expanded the educational part of the festival: forums, webinars, master classes, live broadcasts and lectures by landscape industry professionals could be watched by festival participants from anywhere in the world. Also, virtual stands of three hundred leading companies in the field of landscape design from twenty countries of the world were presented, it was possible to communicate with eminent designers, architects and florists and personally evaluate the works presented in the competition program by taking part in the “People's Choice Award” competition. All this, most likely, will form the basis of the Moscow Flower Show 2021 festival, only in an offline format.

By the way, usually the festival is dedicated to a specific topic. In 2021, which was declared the “Year of Remembrance and Glory,” the theme of the festival competition was “Gardens of the World.” In this case, “peace” as the common merit of our people, who won the Great Patriotic War, as an opportunity to live and create in quiet free time.

This time, 30 leading Russian and foreign designers presented their projects at the festival, including fashionable Russian fashion designers Alena Akhmadullina and Denis Gulyaev. Thematic compositions from cities of military glory were also presented. The works were traditionally assessed by members of an international expert commission, including James Alexander Sinclair, Princess Marisol de la Tour d'Auvergne and other leading industry experts.

The organizers of the Moscow Flower Show do not forget about the little spectators. As part of the festival, the 5th anniversary children's national competition of landscape design and gardening “Planet of Flowers” was held. Also for the first time, a competition was organized for amateur gardeners, who could send photos of their works for evaluation by the jury.

Particular attention in 2021 was paid to the environmental education block. These include forums, webinars, master classes, live broadcasts and lectures from landscape industry professionals, as well as special events for children with special needs. A marketplace with products from leading Russian and foreign manufacturers in the landscape industry was specially organized for virtual visitors.

Yudashkin, Zaitsev, Akhmadullina and Gulyaev will create gardens at the Moscow Flower Show!

From July 10 to July 21, the Muzeon Art Park will host the VIII International Festival of Gardens and Flowers Moscow Flower Show 2019 - the main event in the field of landscape design in Russia, a high fashion week of landscape art. Muzeon will feature exhibition gardens created by the best landscape designers.

This year's theme was Theater. The winner will be determined by an authoritative international jury, which will traditionally be headed by the judge of the Royal Horticultural Society of Great Britain James Alexander Sinclair . In addition to him, the works will be judged by the vice-president of the Foundation for the Support of Parks and Gardens of France, Princess Marie-Solle de la Tour d'Auvergne and other recognized experts.

For the first time in the history of the festival, garden masterpieces will be created by famous Russian fashion designers in the special project “Garden Fashion Show”. Valentin Yudashkin, Alena Akhmadullina, Igor Gulyaev, Vyacheslav Zaitsev and other famous fashion designers will bring their bold creative ideas to life, creating an exquisite collaboration of fashion and landscape art.

President of the Moscow Flower Show Karina Lazareva: “The Moscow Flower Show is being held this year for the eighth time, and all these years the festival has been a trendsetter in landscape design. This year we've gone even further and are literally integrating fashion trends into gardens. We invited the most famous fashion designers to create their own vision of the garden, and masters of landscape art will help them realize it.”

Another innovation this year will be the first night light show in the gardens, “Gardens Night Light”. Thousands of lights will be lit in all the gardens on the festival grounds, and for one night the Muzeon space will turn into a fairy-tale forest.

As part of the festival, for the first time in Russia, a topiary art competition will be held!

On July 16, professionals will compete in the art of topiary haircuts at the Moscow Flower Show festival in the Muzeon art park.

For the first time in Russia, at the Moscow Flower Show festival in the Muzeon art park, a competition in “topiary” will be held - the art of forming various figures and forms from plants through artistic cutting. Topiary haircut appeared in ancient Rome, where wealthy citizens and nobles decorated gardens with topiary shapes. During the Renaissance, topiary became widespread throughout Europe. Birds and animals, geometric figures, hedges, colonnades, and domes were “created” from plants. Throughout history in Asia and Europe, topiary art has been a natural addition to the gardens of wealthy people. In Russia it appeared thanks to Peter I and was embodied in the beautiful Baroque gardens of Peterhof, and then spread throughout the country.

Topiary cutting of plants of incredible beauty and striking symmetry is now available in the gardens of Versailles and the Vatican, in the gardens of the Villa Doria Pamphili in Rome, in the Summer Garden and Peterhof in St. Petersburg or in the Arkhangelskoye estate in Moscow. Plants serve as hedges and walls of green labyrinths, turning into obelisks, cubes, cones, spirals or spheres.

Participants in Russia's first topiary competition will try to create a work of art from plants - it will take place at the Moscow Flower Show festival in Muzeon on July 16.

In the first round of the competition, participants will create a “magnificent spiral” from the western thuja Smaragd. In the second round, each participant will receive 3 plants; the task will be to independently think through the idea, implement it, impressing the jury and audience of the competition with originality and impeccable execution.

Karina Lazareva, President of the Moscow Flower Show: “Our task is not only to demonstrate a whole direction in landscape art – “topiary”, but to unite specialists to create a Russian school of topiary art.”

All visitors to the Moscow Flower Show festival on July 16 will be able to see the competition. Tickets are already available on the festival website.

Competition partners: Makita, Greenworks, Bosch.
