Winter fishing in Zaslavsky village (Minsk Sea)

Winter fishing in Zaslavsky village is varied and interesting. Anglers choose points on or near the riverbed. On March 22 and 23, we visited Zaslavsky village to catch roach and bream. Roaches usually bite on pearl barley, pasta, polystyrene foam, bloodworms, and a bloodworm-maggot sandwich. White bream for bloodworms, bloodworm-maggot sandwich. To catch a trophy, you will have to feed the same place for 3,4 or even 5 days. Most often, bream emerge at night, late evening or early morning.

On the first day of fishing, the fish were as careful as possible. I took it for one bloodworm. There was one bite for pearl barley and several more bites for bloodworms, which, unfortunately, were not successful. The fishing point was chosen as a “flooded garden” - less people, more oxygen. The fishing depth is about 3.5 meters. There are only a couple of people around, whose results also left much to be desired. It is noteworthy that the roach bites were in the hole, which was not fed.

On the second day we decided not to go far from beach 5. The weather has changed. The sun was shining, it was much warmer, but the wind still gave no rest. We don’t know why, but in the wells that were fed, the fish refused to bite again. We chose the strategy of drilling near old holes, which met our expectations. The pecking became normal. And over the last few hours of fishing with bloodworms, a bloodworm sandwich with maggots, about 40 heads of roach, bream, perch, and a couple of ruffs were caught.

Historical facts about the Zaslavsky reservoir

In order to regulate the river flow. Svisloch and flood prevention within the city of Minsk in 1956 completed the implementation of the project to block the river with a dam. The Zaslavskoe reservoir was formed, which became part of the Vileika-Minsk water system. Regular hydrological observations have been carried out by scientists since 1959.

Minsk Sea on the map of Belarus.

The project to create an artificial reservoir near Minsk was developed in the 30s of the last century. Slander and repression against a group of specialists on the project prevented its implementation. The idea of creating a reservoir near the city was revived in the early 50s.

By 1953, specialists conducted research and prepared a project approved by the Council of Ministers of the republic. The builders began work.

The designers carried out hydrological surveys in the river floodplain superficially and not professionally enough. During excavation, construction crews discovered silted areas that interfered with construction. The workers were unable to extract the sludge mechanically; the equipment was unable to cope with this task. The implementation of the project was in jeopardy.

The head of the construction, Anatoly Fedorovich Koshkin, who received instructions to stop the project, informally suggested to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic K.T. Mazurov to carry out blasting work on problem areas of the construction site. Having received the consent of management, A.F. Koshkin, at his own peril and risk, organized the secret delivery of explosives to the construction site.

The bombers calculated where the charges were placed and carried out an explosion. The silt was removed and soil excavation continued. At the beginning of 1955, the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee N.S. visited the construction of the reservoir. Khrushchev. He got acquainted with the prospect of launching the hydraulic structure in the autumn, when, following international practice, it was planned to begin filling the reservoir.

Nikita Sergeevich decided that it was necessary to speed up the process and fill the sea with water in the summer. The decision of the head of state led to the organization of work in emergency mode, using the labor of conscripts. Construction work was completed. The reservoir was filled with water for six months, and juvenile fish were launched from an airplane. After some time, seagulls appeared on the pond.

The state acceptance committee changed the original name in honor of the coastal village of Gonoles to the Minsk Sea.

How to get to the Minsk Sea by international and personal transport?

You can get from Minsk to the seashore in the following ways:

  • by high-speed electric train Minsk - Belarus (about 20 minutes);
  • by electric train going to Molodechno or Olekhnovichi (about 30 minutes);
  • exit at the “Minsk Sea” stop, fare – 0.6 BYN. rub., from the station walk about 1 km to the Robinson Club complex, go around it on the left through the forest and go out to public beaches;
  • regular buses No. 219, 227, 419 (from the Odoevsky stop), No. 219d (from the Druzhnaya stop), transport rarely runs;
  • by personal vehicle (taxi, cost from 30 Belarusian rubles): along the Minsk - Molodechno highway to the ring - exit in the direction of the Stalin Line - Zhdanovichi market - exit to the beaches of Kachino and Poberezhye. There are parking lots on the seashore; no payment is required.

A guarded paid parking lot (one-time payment 2 Belarusian rubles), a well-maintained beach with free access, a children's entertainment town with swings and sports grounds are offered to guests by the administration at the Yunost holiday home. If you wish to use a sun lounger, you must pay for it at the reception.

The carpenter is waiting

Near the Semsky Bridge in the warm season you can acquire several kilograms of roach in a short time. It is most convenient to catch it from the dam, and the bite here is the best. However, when purposefully looking for roach, you should pay attention to the boat station: not far from it there are concrete slabs from which this fish can be caught very well.

With a boat, you can swim further. At a distance from the coastal strip, crucian carp is found in abundance. It is better to catch it on a dump. On average, fish caught here weigh one and a half kilograms. You need to understand that it is during the warm season that there will be the most competitors on the Minsk Sea. However, not only them: the place is also popular among vacationers, so on weekends you will still have to look for a quiet backwater. As mentioned above, the reservoir is four kilometers wide, so there is every chance of finding a suitable location.

Climate. When is the best time to come on vacation?

At the latitude of Minsk, the climate is temperate continental, influenced by sea Atlantic air. The winter months are characterized by unstable weather, temperature fluctuations, and thaws. Some days are frosty (below – 25°C).

Spring is sunny and protracted, with possible frosts at the beginning and temperature rises in May to +20°C during the day. July and August are best for relaxing on the reservoir with children: during the day the air warms up to +25...27°C, lots of sun, warm water (+20...22°C), cool nights (+14...16°C). On some days the temperature is more than +30°C or it can be cloudy and rainy.

Frost and sun, a wonderful day!

Fishing in the Minsk Sea in winter and early spring promises rich catches, but only careful and skillful fishermen will be successful. The official spring season begins in April, but those who like to get out of the house in cold weather to catch fish can safely go for a catch in any month of the year. In November, December, in a word, from late autumn until April, while there is strong ice on the reservoir, you can drill holes and get a decent catch.

Fans of winter fishing note that sometimes on the Minsk Sea on cold days they fail to catch nothing at all. You can’t argue: this happens in any body of water. However, with a little luck, you can be sure of a decent catch of pike perch and bream. Perch bite in large numbers all year round, although many do not value them too much. And this, by the way, is also a fish, especially in the Minsk Sea it grows to a decent size - there is something to roam around.

Beaches. Equipment, prices

The Minsk Sea on the southeastern coast and Ratom Bay has large equipped beaches. In hot weather, the water warms up to +22…24°C. On the shore there are gazebos and canopies for relaxation, areas with barbecues, changing cabins, and dry closets. The entrances to the water are gentle, the depth increases gradually, which allows children to swim calmly.

In addition, not so long ago a huge amount of fish was released into the reservoir. And all this for the sake of the fishermen! How can you not try your hand at fighting cunning underwater inhabitants? By the way, on the VKontakte social network, fishing in the Minsk Sea is a separate topic of discussion; there is even a large community dedicated to it.

Others, after looking at the pictures, will think: where is this magnificent sea of fish that we didn’t study in geography lessons at school? It’s simple: “Minsk Sea” is just a name that has taken root among the people, and the official name is “Zaslavskoye”. When they talk about fishing on the Minsk Sea, they mean a large reservoir tens of kilometers away from Minsk. You can get to it by leaving the city to the northwest. Some joke that it is precisely this confusion with names that ensures excellent fishing in the Minsk Sea - just not everyone can find it.

Fishing for bream on the Zaslavsky Reservoir

Bream is perhaps the largest fish that can be purposefully caught in the Minsk Sea from the shore. Specimens up to three kilograms are often caught. And catching kilogram bream is generally commonplace. True, you won’t catch very many of these fish, 3-4 of them, depending on your luck.

Of course, you can catch bream with a regular fly rod, but here, due to the relatively close fishing distance from the shore, you will mostly catch roach. If you really hope to catch a normal number of bream, then a fly rod is not suitable; you need to cast much further.

And for these purposes nothing better than a feeder has been invented. When fishing with a feeder, you must definitely use bait; usually you buy ready-made bait for the feeder. But if you mix it with bream bait, the effect will be even better. The best bait to use is a red worm or bloodworm. But here it will be possible to decide only as fishing progresses.

How is the Minsk Sea similar to the Baltic, and what kind of fish can be caught from the shore?

It would be hard to call the Minsk Sea a reservoir. Since its creation, it has become for the townspeople not only one of the main life-giving wells, but also a real symbol of summer. Getting to Zaslavsky is not difficult. Many shores are already favored by sanatoriums, resorts and yachting schools, but this does not stop “savages” from coming to public beaches.

The most popular vacation spot is considered to be the area that starts from the dam at Beach No. 1, and several kilometers of coastline up to Beach No. 5, popular among young people. A correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency went there to inspect the maritime possessions of Minsk residents.

We were lucky with the weather this week. The sun warmed up, and, despite it being a weekday, the townspeople rushed to the sea. At the approach to the reservoir, a persistent breeze is caught in the air - the wind carries it along with the waves to the shore. Only ducks swim, although it seems they would happily wrap themselves in a blanket, like a couple of ladies sitting by the water with thermoses.

In contrast, on the sand nearby, a girl in a swimsuit is doing yoga. True, under the close attention of the videographer. Nearby, in a still-open café, several couples are waiting for their brunch, or perhaps lunch, with a view of the sea. It’s not that expensive, but it’ll give you impressions for a week ahead.

By the way, this season Minsk restaurateurs have breathed new life into Beach No. 5. In the spring, along the shore, in addition to traditional tents, a fashionable pavilion and a snack bar appeared, as well as dozens of seats made from pallets. And the utility workers installed so many trash cans that it seems they never had time to fill them during the season. We will add to the useful infrastructure dry closets, stationary sun loungers, children's swings and, of course, gazebos with barbecues. In short, everything is done for a holiday with children or company.

Perhaps, special mention should be made of those who come here exclusively for sports. You can go yachting and kitesurfing; beach volleyball players play on beach No. 3. Anti-vandal exercise equipment has also been installed on several beaches so that people can not only lie on the sand or eat barbecue, but also think about body culture. Moreover, with the onset of cold weather, the recreation area instantly becomes empty, but walking trails under the pine trees, and with them, sports equipment, are always in demand.

By the way, it is the vegetation along the coast that our sea resembles the Baltic. Here, as in the Russian Svetlogorsk or the Latvian Jurmala, the roots of the trees beg into the water, the air is fresh. The Minsk Sea lacks only seagulls, but it also has its advantages - apples on the sand. Right now it is literally strewn with wild fruits, which seems to highlight the end of the season. The thing is that apple trees grow here next to conifers...

During the walk, it also became clear that the tide is now low in the Minsk Sea and fishermen have to go into the water almost waist-deep. When asked about the bite, the bit masters reluctantly list the possible prey: roach, pike perch, bream, bream, and also pike, crucian carp, tench.

At this time, a motor boat cuts through the surface of the water in the distance. And it seemed like it, but the driver, the captain, was all in white! I immediately remember that many Belarusians were once among the first so-called Peter the Great’s marines, and during the Soviet era, many compatriots went to defend the water borders of a large country in the Baltic, Black Sea and Pacific fleets. Of course, Belarus is not a maritime country, because Minsk does not have its own port, but it protects the sea, created 60 years ago.

September 24 is celebrated as World Maritime Day, proclaimed by the UN. No, on this day you don’t need to swim or say thank you to the sea. The holiday, which appeared more than 40 years ago, calls on the public to pay attention to the problems of the seas and oceans, to the environmental situation on the planet.
