I made it to the podium! Ice fishing festival in the Kochkovsky district.
Good day everyone!
On Saturday I attended an ice fishing festival in the Kochkovsky district on the Karasuk River.
We arrived at the river along a broken wedge. We've completed registration and formation, and now 69 participants are already on the ice and we're starting to drill into the ice.
While someone was drilling the ice and catching their first fish, I walked a little, talked with the fishermen and also began to meditate over the hole. I hit the fish from the first hole. In general, I spent the first round relaxed and didn’t think that I would make it to the second.
I went into the car, took away the gear and thought I’d go to the table and enjoy some barbecue. But then the guys called me and said that he was in the top ten and made it to the second round. I return to the car, take my gear and continue competing.
In the second round I changed my tactics. If in the first round I bet on quantity and caught small perches in the shallows, then in the second round I bet on roach and went to a 6-meter hole, took a fishing rod with a tiny jig and a 0.08mm fishing line. This brought a positive result in the second round. I caught fish in 3rd place, my friend Uncle Seryozha took first place. I was many times more happy for him than for myself.
Afterwards there were driller competitions, a nice table with shurpa and shish kebab, burning of Covid and of course the award ceremony. By the way, after the competition, my friends just went fishing in this pool, and then the fish simply seemed to have recovered from the shock and was actively biting. And besides, the roach was much better than during the competition.
In general, the fish on the Karasuk River are biting and are quite good. And the festival was great.
I attach photos and videos.
Fishing bases
Tourist and fishing camps are located throughout the region. At the same time, we note that every year active recreation is becoming more and more popular. For those who like to go fishing for several days or even weeks and spend time in comfort, the most suitable are paid bases where you can rent:
- Necessary gear.
- Water transport.
- Housing and other services.
Cool place
This holiday destination is very popular as you can rent small houses. At the same time, we note that:
- fishing can take place on the Ob River and its several tributaries;
- you can rent various vehicles, including snowmobiles for fishing in the winter;
- you can count on a big catch.

Fishing with Guide Ivan. Zherlitsy on the Ob.
A year has passed since I began to master the zherlitsa. I usually go with my girders to small rivers, and as you all know, to Lake Blagodatnoe not far from Karasuk. And this time I decided to try fishing with the girders on the Ob. On Friday I called a very good guide in Krutikha and asked if he could take me to pike spots. To which Ivan said it was easy. Come Seryoga there will be pikes. (By the way, I went with guide Ivan many times to the Altai channels and the Ob, I never left without fish. I want to catch perch, we go on perch, I want to catch other fish, we go on another.) In the morning we met with Ivan in Krutikha and rushed off to meet a new fishing day . We arrived somewhere on the Ob. Ivan said that there is a storm in this patch, a pike lives here and it can be very large. As soon as I placed the poles and took the fishing rod with the balancer, the first flags rose, one at one end and the other at the opposite end. Falling into the snow almost knee-deep, and with water under the snow, I reached the first flag. I'm hooking. Eat! The pike offers good resistance, but still ends up on the ice. This is my first pike on the Ob! I run to another line, unwinding is in progress. I hook into the opposite direction and the next torpedo begins to resist, and also ends up on the ice. Well. The process has begun. The mood rises, emotions overwhelm, the Ob is conquered. Ivan suggested going out to the island for lunch. We spent about twenty minutes on the island in a great company of like-minded people, drinking tea by the fire. Having descended from the island, I tell Ivan that two flags seem to be on. We sit down on the snowflake, drive up, and there are 5 flags looking up. I begin to harvest and at this moment the 6th flag rises. This is where emotions run wild. And running from girder to girder in deep snow with water is still a cross. In general, I caught a few more pikes. By the way, the pike on the Ob differs from the micro-river. The pikes are all different colors and beautiful. A little later, several more jobs in a row. I take another pike, one goes right under the hole. The double slipped off the leash, and the pike left with the double. It's a shame, a shame, but oh well. I'm more than happy with the fishing. By the way, fisheries inspectors came up to me, counted the girders (I didn’t break the law), asked about my catch and went on, wishing me successful fishing. This is their job and it’s good that they follow this. By the way, the guys also stood aside with zherlmtsy. They also have all the rules in terms of quantity, they are also law-abiding. I won’t say how they fished, but at the time when I was about to leave, they caught one pike out of 5 fishing trips. Their live bait is perch. I caught crucian carp. At 15:30 I collected the trains and we went home. I didn’t wait for the evening exit. Ivan and other fishermen were off to the side in the shallows catching pike on balance beams. But the pike didn’t really want to take the bait. I also tugged the balancers a little, but in vain.
I really liked fishing on the Ob with girders. It is very different from fishing on micro rivers. I'll definitely go again. The video is not ready yet, there was no time to process it. But soon I’ll edit it and post it on my channel #restlessfisherman, whoever is interested, subscribe and you definitely won’t miss it. And not only this video. Here now I will limit myself to just a photo report.
Good day everyone.
So the weather has come to Siberia, it’s unclear what kind of weather it is, either warm or severe frosts. Okay, but there it would be week after week, but here the weather changes dramatically every two days. Oh, and it’s difficult now for weather-dependent people. And it’s not easier for fishermen.
It’s not like it’s a day off, but the frost is 40 degrees, but when you go to work it’s so warm (-20).
It just so happened that my partner and I had a weekend that was not exactly warm weather, but a real blast. And we were already in a serious mood to go fishing. In the evening it was a little warmer (-33) and we decided to put up the girders for the night.
In the morning, my partner and dad come pick me up and we go fishing. As I expected, some of the vents were firmly frozen into the ice. And some only froze a little, and the ice under them was easily broken.
The fun began from the first raised flag. We drilled and hollowed out, and for good reason. Such fun was repeated periodically throughout the day.
Even my filming equipment could not withstand such frosts and immediately froze. I had to film in fits and starts, either with a camera or a phone. Hmmm, I haven’t fished like this for a long time.
Overall, the fishing went well. Various predators were caught and that's great.
PS A friend’s dad was fishing for the first time, and said that he wouldn’t go again in such cold weather. He was saved a little by the protective mask that must be worn during a pandemic.
By the way, I’m looking for new fishing spots for girders, but tonight some scout took me and told me where I’m fishing. Yes, yes, he took it and did it. Directly in the news from the reservoirs, he told everyone that he had seen me more than once on Lake Blagodatnoe near Karasuk. In general, my point is declassified. But I don't despair. Let's find new places.
If anyone can share a place where you can go fishing for girders. I will be grateful.

Lake Krugloye, Karasuksky district. Only crucian carp, but what a carp!
Colleagues, fortunately, everyone has a cheerful time and go fishing more often.
Finally, I bring news from the Novosibirsk fields :)
The lakes in the Karasuk area surprised us with many things, including the fact that this is not the Ob system and there is no bleak, rotan, or verkhovka there. And there is the purest water, completely free from fishermen, numerous lakes, rivers and channels between them. I showed all this as best I could in a short video. And the fishing itself turned out to be non-trivial))
I found myself fishing without the traditional bait for crucian carp – earthworms. Regular polystyrene foam came to the rescue. Fished on a lake in the Karasuksky district of the Novosibirsk region. I got up very early and arrived at the lake at dawn, leaving a can of worms in the apartment. I didn’t get upset and caught excellent crucian carp using ordinary foam balls.
Fishing in the Novosibirsk region
On the territory of the Novosibirsk region there are quite a large number of lakes and rivers where you can have a good rest and get a wonderful catch. The fisherman has a choice of about 400 rivers with different conditions for fishing.
The largest is the Ob River. Among the reservoirs, the Ob Sea should be highlighted. It is visited every year by thousands of anglers with varying levels of training. It should also be noted that in the Novosibirsk region there are more than 2,500 fresh and salt lakes, where you can count on a rich catch.
The waters of rivers and lakes in this region contain a wide variety of fish:
Karasuksky district. Lake Blagodatnoe.
Good day everyone. On Saturday, my beloved and I decided to take a ride to Lake Blagodatnoye, Karasuk district. We really love to catch crucian carp. We agreed with friends and rushed. Friends from Krasnoozerka, we are from Ordynsky. At 8 am we met on the ice and went to decide on a place. Luckily there is not a lot of snow and any cars can drive on the ice. There are more people than at a sale at a flea market. Apparently we are not the only ones who love to catch crucian carp. There are Novosibirsk and Altai and Omsk people there.
We decided on a place. We set up a tent next to the car, fed it with mormysh and waited. About 10 minutes later my wife opened an account. So there is fish. Before 11 o'clock in the morning we caught 7 crucian carp and probably the same number of catches. Then he calmed down for the whole day. Many generally walked around and complained about the lack of bite. We decided to wait for the evening. While there was no bite, we relaxed, drank tea, and talked with the fishermen. After 20.00 under our tent the bite resumed and before 22.00 I caught a whole bag of crucian carp. The wife no longer fished, but only took photographs.
He was away from the bite. But what can you do? You can’t catch all the fish, but you have to go. They caught it with bloodworms. Fishing depth 4 meters. The priority jigs were silver and light green. Blacks were ignored.
We were pleased with the fishing. Our crucian carp ranges from 300 to 800 grams. It's a pleasure to fish like this. Crucian carp is not wormed.
Fish are dying in the lakes of the Karasuk region
“The fish are suffocating on Chebachye. Everything is already sitting in the holes, there are fry. A hole full of fry. Today is February 29, 2021. The fish are dying,” the fisherman comments on the amateur video footage.
The cause of death is lack of oxygen and sunlight. Due to the warm winter and heavy snowfall, the ice on the lake looks like a layer cake. Fishermen are drilling holes, but this does not help the situation. “Here, you see what a chub, what a cool fish we have - half dead.”
Dead fish on Chebachye are taken out “by drag”. Using a shovel or net, water is driven from one hole through a gutter to another. The still living fish, feeling the flow of water and the opportunity to breathe, floats to the surface in the hole, but the water is already captured by a crust of ice, so this still living fish will most likely die too.

Pike perch is disappearing from the Ob Sea - three reasons
Karasuk is a lake region, the art of fishing is passed down from generation to generation. Local resident Alexey Podolyak has been fishing since he learned to walk. “The predatory fish is suffocating. The fact that we see a chebak means that the perch has already suffocated, it is at the bottom. When spring comes, all this will come up, there will be a terrible stench - you can’t go near the lake in the first few weeks.”
Last year, fishermen hired brownies at their own expense to drill holes and then manually cleared the ice from them. Air was pumped under the ice using pumps. This year the roads to the lake were covered with snow. For fisheries inspectors, the condition of the lake and fish is not at all the main thing. “This is protocol. I’ll write to you now for something else, that’s all. They don’t care - they’re stupid money.”

“Cannibal fish” attacked Yeltsovka
Karasuk Lakes are federal property. They can be rented under a water use agreement. Today there are no interested parties on Chebachye who would be engaged in commercial fish farming and monitor the environment. The local administration considers the killing of fish to be a natural process.
“Every year, the death of fish such as pike, perch, and chebak occurs everywhere, on almost all lakes. There has always been a problem - our lakes are not very deep,” says Alexander Pyatakov, head of the agricultural department of the Karasuk district administration.
If the necessary measures are not taken, the fish will continue to die from year to year.
And local residents can only hope that with the spring flood, fish will come from other reservoirs.
