Surely, many townspeople have long and impatiently been waiting for answers to burning questions - is fish caught in Iset, if so, what kind, and, most importantly, is it possible to eat fish caught in Iset?
Dear citizens, sorry for keeping you waiting, I’m quickly improving, or rather, I’ve already corrected myself - I’ve fished on Iset. Now I’ll tell you everything.
Let's start with the fact that the Iset, like other rivers, has one big problem - it is very long (and I have complained more than once about this unpleasant feature). Therefore, where to fish is completely unclear.
The obvious and lazy option suggested itself - to cast the fishing rods right on Plotinka, but after some hesitation I rejected this option, because it seemed that such fishing would lack the spirit of adventure, romance and extreme sports (although it is possible that I am wrong).
According to rumors, mega-catch awaits fishermen on the Iset in the Kurgan region, but not everyone will make it to the Kurgan region (including me).
Therefore, an intermediate option was chosen - 53 kilometers from the city, in the area of the village of Kamyshevo (this is towards Kamensk, in Zlatogorovo - to the right).
The ice net in this area is quite shallow, rapids, grassy, and it is not easy to find a place for fishing. Locals fish at the dam near the former felting factory. But what kind of unity with nature can there be near a felting factory?! I went further, drove around, but found a place - a small hole behind a riffle.
To be honest, the place is not the best - the hole is small, there is nowhere to throw the feeder, it is also not easy with a float rod - there is a current, and the conditions are not the best for spinning. Nevertheless, I started fishing.
Well, how about fishing... From 9.30 to 12.00 absolutely nothing happened, except for the visit of a local resident with a dog, who, of course, told me fascinating stories about the crazy bite of perches last September and about the multi-kilogram carp that happen here, that and get caught. At this point, the local’s supply of fascinating stories dried up, and he left. Instead, a snake arrived. Didn't say anything. He paused and swam away. But he paused very significantly; I took this as an unambiguous signal. And indeed, I didn’t let you down - a good bite and a good bass opened the account in this fishing trip.
However, “opened an account” is perhaps a strong word. The score in the end turned out to be quite modest - 2:0. In addition to the perch, quite a decent bream was caught (not every cat can handle this in one sitting).
Both fish were caught with a worm on a float rod and subsequently released. The feeder on this fishing trip turned out to be completely useless, and now it’s time for the sad story about spinning...
Approximately the seventy-first cast (previously seventy - absolutely empty, except for numerous hooks and cliffs) - and, suddenly, a sharp poke. Naturally, I assume that this is just another hold and do not make any aggressive movements. But then it turns out that this is not just a hold, but a hold on something living and very weighty. But I didn’t hook it! Well, of course, it didn’t end well, it was gone alive and heavy! It also jumped out of the water, either out of resentment, or, on the contrary, in mockery. But I almost broke my spinning rod on my knee out of resentment!
For the first time, I had a chance to catch something worthy on the river, and it was necessary to dispose of this chance so mediocrely! And after two casts I also broke the spoon!
Further attempts turned out to be useless; other lures did not attract the pike (and it was undoubtedly a pike).
This sad story happened to me on the Iset River...
And, on the one hand, of course, it’s a shame, I ruined my mood for many hours, days, and maybe years, but, on the other hand, it’s gratifying that in our home Iset there are such worthy fish.
For those who care about the environment, I can tell you that the water in this section of the Iset is not lilac or orange, it smells like water, and the banks, due to the relative desertion, are quite clean.
For those who persistently want to catch a carp in Iset and then shamelessly brag about it, I can suggest a real option - on the road to Kamyshevo there is a Cheskidovsky pond (platnik), where you can easily catch a carp, and it is not at all necessary to tell the truth about its origin.
And we move on to conclusions.
Conclusion 1: There is fish, and even very decent fish, in the Iset River, but not everyone is able to catch it.
Conclusion 2 (failed): Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, it was not possible to confirm in practice the hypothesis about the edibility of Iset fish, therefore, whoever ate it and can respond - respond!
Conclusion 3: And here’s what’s surprising - it turns out that not all the banks of the Iset are lined with granite slabs. Who would have thought!

General information about the Iset River
The river originates from Lake Isetsky (a dam was built at the source). There is an opinion that the Shitovskaya Istok River, which flows into Lake Iset, should be considered the source of the Iset.
The Iset flows through the territory of the Sverdlovsk, Kurgan and Tyumen regions. The length of the Iset River reaches 606 km. Of these, 202 km of the Iset flows through the Sverdlovsk region, it is the seventh longest river in the region. The average volume of annual runoff at the border of the region is 0.44 cubic meters. km.
Iset belongs to the Tobol River basin, being its left tributary. Pool area 58,900 sq. km. Current speed is from 0.5 m/s in the upper reaches to 0.2 m/s near the mouth. The speed increases significantly in sections of rapids, of which there are plenty on the river.

The river contains fish: roach, bleak, gudgeon, pike, perch, ruff, bream, ide, burbot, dace, crucian carp, tench. However, I don’t recommend eating Iset fish. The river is very polluted. Sometimes mass fish deaths occur. The cities of Yekaterinburg, Aramil, Kamensk-Uralsky, Kataysk, Dalmatovo, Shadrinsk, and numerous small settlements are located on the river.
Several ponds have been formed: Verkh-Isetsky, Gorodskoy, Nizhneisetsky (in Yekaterinburg), Aramilsky, Bobrovsky, Volkovskoye Reservoir (Kamensk-Uralsky). In spring there are a lot of ticks on the banks of the Iset.
In the mid-1990s, senior researcher at the Institute of History and Archeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Valentina Viktorova, head of the archeology department of the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, Svetlana Panina, and Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Yuri Erokhin came up with a proposal to create a historical and landscape park “Istoki Iseti” . It was supposed to occupy a vast territory from Shitovskoye Lake in the north to Verkh-Isetsky Pond in the south and from the vicinity of Mount Sokoliny Kamen in the west to the Seven Keys microdistrict in the east. But the project was never implemented.

Dam and Sogrinsky mine

The dam is the place where the river flows out of Lake Isetskoye.
According to the data available today, ore was brought to Mount Petragrom from the Sogrinsky mine, known since ancient times. This waterway has natural barriers to navigation - the Chernousovsky drain and the Revun rapids. The first one is located on the Iset River in the Sverdlovsk region. The second is 80 kilometers downstream from Yekaterinburg and 20 kilometers above Kamensk-Uralsky. The local name for the Revun rapids is Burkan.
