Review: Holidays on Onion Lake (Russia, Moscow) - The search for camping in the Moscow region continues!
This weekend, my friends and I decided that we couldn’t survive another day of Moscow’s heat in the city.
We headed out into nature with tents. It took a long time to choose the place. Even in advance, during the working week, we visited several places for “reconnaissance.” I didn’t like anything: it was either too dirty, or very crowded, because it was close to the Moscow Ring Road. We stopped at Onion Lake, where we had already vacationed last year. We decided this: the place was proven, relatively close (70 km from the Moscow Ring Road towards Balashikha and Noginsk) and clean. We left home at 12 midnight to avoid Friday and Saturday traffic jams. In Balashikha, as always, things are a little stuck - it seems there is a traffic jam there 24 hours a day. We drove at a speed of no more than 30 km per hour, and lost about 40 minutes here. I am attaching a photo of the road traffic at 1 am: We arrived at the lake at 2 o’clock. It turned out that entry into the territory is only until 23.00 and costs 100 rubles per car. They started knocking on the gatehouse - maybe someone would open. A sleepy woman opened the door. She, apparently, quickly realized that the money itself was floating into her hands. First, she carefully asked us when we were last on Lukovo, and then, when she found out that it was only a year ago, she told us that since May 1, everything here has become very expensive. She started asking us for 500 rubles per car per night. That is, for 2 cars and 2 nights we had to give her 2000 rubles. Nonsense! For what? Because we just go into the territory and set up our tents in the forest?! Moreover, nowhere in the price list hanging near the barrier were such prices indicated. In short, we argued with her in the night for about half an hour and were already ready to go in search of another shelter, when suddenly the woman backed down and agreed to let us through. Phew! By the way, we began to privately call this lover of quick and easy money, the Old Woman Pawnbroker, and jokes on this topic did not leave us all weekend. We paid 200 rubles for entry (from 2 cars) and drove into the territory. Convenient asphalt parking completely solves the problem of where to leave the car. But we had to stomp our feet into the forest and carry all our things on ourselves. However, this did not make life any more difficult for us, experienced tourists.
Hydrography
The water surface is slightly less than 35 hectares. The length is about 2 km. Width from 150 to 200 meters. The greatest depth is 12 meters, the prevailing depth is 3-4 meters.
Numerous streams connect to peat bogs; the water is saturated with peat and has a brownish tint.
A small river, Retyomushka, a right tributary of the Sherna, flows out of the lake.
In the center of the round lake there is an island with another small lake - today drained by a ditch into the main lake. Today there is a pioneer camp on the island.

Onion Lake is relatively small in size. Its area is 35 hectares, its length is about 2 km, and its width is from 150 to 200 meters. This reservoir is popular among city residents, especially in summer, since there are not many places for recreation in the Noginsk area. It has open banks, the surrounding area is pleasing to the eye and looks very picturesque. The lake is surrounded by forest. Due to this, holidays in the Noginsk region have the most comfortable conditions.
If you look at the map, the lake really looks like an onion. In the center of the reservoir there is an island with another small reservoir. Today it is connected to the main water area. This place is one of the most picturesque in the area.
Onion Lake (Noginsky district) has many watercourses and connects to peat bogs, which is why there are a lot of peat impurities in the water. This composition affected the color of the water; it acquired a slightly brownish tint. A small river, Retemushka, flows out of the lake, which is the right tributary of the Sherna.
Lukovoe Lake: fishing on Lake Lukovoe (near Noginsk)
Lake Lukovo (also called Lukovoe Lake) is located in the Noginsk region, one kilometer north of the village. Gorki. If you look at the map, it’s from Moscow towards Vladimir, not far from Orekhovo-Zuevo
The area of Lake Lukovoe is 35 hectares. The shores of the lake are open, the surroundings are very picturesque, surrounded by forest. Maximum depths are up to 12.0 m, prevailing 3.0 – 4.5 m. The banks are generally low with good approaches to the water and fishing platforms. The soils of the banks and bottom of the reservoir are clayey and sandy. The bottom relief is pitted.
The origin of the lake, according to materials from Moscow State University, which conducted a survey in 1910-1914-1925, is meteorite. In the center of the lake there is an overgrown island, the outer part of the reservoir is ring-shaped. To the north of the lake there is a large array of marshes - Zhabinsky. The ichthyofauna is diverse, carp are found in large numbers on the lake, adult large specimens, under the weight of years, have acquired an oblong, one might say “carp”, body shape and the love of freedom of their ancestor, which gives amazing and unforgettable sensations to fishermen.
Information for fishermen
The greatest depth of the reservoir is 12 m, the average is 3-4.5 m. The banks are mostly low, and it is not difficult to get to the water. There is good news for fishermen - Onion Lake is equipped with fishing platforms. The shore and bottom of the water area, depending on the location, have a clay or sandy structure. The lake has a pitted bottom topography.
The ichthyofauna is replete with diversity. There are a lot of carp in the lake. There is a high probability of catching large adult specimens, which provides a great and unforgettable experience for fishermen. In addition, the following types of vertebrates are found in the reservoir: pike, perch, bream, roach, rotan, crucian carp. Fishing is done on the lake throughout the year. In summer, Onion Lake is a good place for carp lovers, and in winter the catch will consist of perch, pike and roach. Fishing can be done both from the shore and from a boat. As a rule, professionals recommend using a float rod or spinning rod. The choice of bait depends on the type of fish; for example, perch and roach bite well on bloodworms or worms.

In the forest on Lake Lukovoe there are tables and benches convenient for relaxation. Each reservoir has a parking lot, the cost of a parking space is 50 rubles per day, there are boat stations on all reservoirs, on the lake. Onion operates a water slide. Swimming is allowed only in designated places - beaches; entry to the beach and swimming are free in all bodies of water.

General provisions:
- fishing is permitted throughout the year;
- Fishing is permitted only with permits;
- fishing is permitted 24 hours a day;
On the reservoir it is allowed:
- fishing with a spinning rod, fly fishing, float rod, bottom rod, winter lures, jigs, vertical lures;
- the total number of gear lowered into the water is no more than three per trip and no more than three per angler. Please note that using less gear does not entitle your friends to fish with your other gear for free;
- the total number of hooks is no more than ten per fisherman. Please note that using fewer hooks on one tackle does not give you the right to increase the number of hooks on another tackle;
- use of bait, no more than 3 kg. dry mixture per day;
- the use of fry or live bait caught with the gear permitted above or purchased at a ticket sales point.
On the reservoir it is prohibited:
- use of any net fishing gear, of any size, with the exception of the use of a landing net when landing fish;
- discoloration of fish, including with permitted gear;
- use of any types of electric fishing rods;
- use of imported fry or live bait;
- use of whole peanuts in the mixture;
- use of musical instruments and instruments within a radius of 200m. from a body of water;
- parking vehicles closer than 50 meters from the water's edge;
- washing vehicles closer than 500 meters from the water's edge;
- bloodworm extraction;
- catching crayfish;
- bathing animals.
