Hydrology
The lake stretches from northwest to southeast for 12 kilometers. The maximum width is 4 kilometers. The total area of the mirror is 24 square meters. km. Depths - 7 m (maximum) and 3 m (average). The bottom is muddy, but there is also sand. In some places, forest approaches the shore. The banks are flat. There is a lot of flooded forest on the lake. Water transparency is 0.5 meters. The depth in areas of the flooded forest is 2...3 meters. There is an earthen road around the lake. Vegetation: cattail, reeds, reeds.
History of the name of Lake Treustan
There are several versions about the origin of the hydronym: according to one of them, the lake was named after the properties of the area - in some Turkic languages, “treuy” means “viscous”, and “stan” means “place of settlement (location)”, another version is based on a local legend about the “three camps” - either settlements of nomads, or fishing camps of fishermen. It is unlikely that the second hypothesis is plausible, first of all, that it is simply impossible to get water in these places and suddenly flood them. Most likely, this is a later invention. But the first of the versions is similar to the truth - the similarity of the old Turkic name to the Russian word “quagmire” helped to preserve the name, albeit in a modified form
We can say with confidence that the local toponym has nothing to do with the popular French name “Tristan”.
Holidays on Lake Treustan
The banks of Treustan are swampy, and the trunks of flooded trees stick out in the shallow water. The surroundings of the reservoir are not developed: there are no recreation centers or villages. The nearest villages (Khanzhino and Pashnino) are about 3 kilometers away. The nearest natural objects are Lake Gorkoye and Lake Lavrushino. In fact, the lake is of no interest for recreation (except fishing).
Fishing on Lake Treustan
Lake Treustan in the Chelyabinsk region is a commercial and very productive reservoir. From May 5 to June 15 of each year there is a spawning ban. The user of the lake is OJSC Chelyabinsk Fish Hatchery. Fishing is possible both on donkeys (from the banks) and from a boat. Fishing is paid. A daily fishing ticket costs 150 rubles (2014). You can buy a ticket at the fishing camp. It is worth looking for it on the western shore of the lake from the side of the canal leaving Lake Donguzly.
The lake contains carp (3...5 kg), crucian carp (up to 1 kg), perch, chebak, pike perch, and ripus. The main objects of recreational fishing in summer are carp and crucian carp, and in winter - perch.
How to get to Lake Treustan
Route: Chelyabinsk - Kopeysk - Oktyabrsky - Frolovka - Khanzhino. We enter Kopeisk and drive along the central, main street. Then the main street turns left (to the bus station) and, after 100 meters, right. Then we also drive along the main road, cross the railway tracks and soon we get to the roundabout, at the roundabout the first turn to the right. Then we go straight to the fork: the main road goes to the right at an angle of 45 degrees, our road goes to the left at an angle of 90 degrees. Next, the road runs on the left side of Lake Kurlady, we cross the bypass road around Chelyabinsk and go to the village of Oktyabrsky. Before the village of Oktyabrsky, the road splits into two, one straight to Oktyabrsky, the second to the left, to the village of Frolovka. We're going to Frolovka. The road here, although asphalt, has holes every 50 meters and therefore requires a lot of patience from the driver. This road goes from Oktyabrsky to Frolovka (about 5 km) and from Frolovka to Khanzhino (also about 5 km). At the entrance to Frolovka there is a hangar, we go around it on the left side and turn right. About one kilometer after Frolovka, on the left side, a dirt road will appear; it is better to drive along it (of course, in good weather). We enter the village of Khanzhino and you can go left or right. The right road leads to a canal that flows from Treustan and apparently connects to Lake Kurlady. The left road goes next to Lake Gorky and goes out to the western shore of Treustan. In the rain, or after the rain, Treustan can only be reached by off-road vehicle (or, even better, by tractor).
Treustan. Lake where monsters break fishing rods
Treustan. I wonder where this name comes from? No matter how many times I asked my literate friends, there was no clear answer. Someone talked about three fishing camps that settled on the coast of this lake, someone talked about the fishermen who, when they first arrived here, raised three glasses. Three glasses - three mills! History is silent about the facts. And no need to worry! It fell from God from the sky - with this we can fish! The poster is not the main thing - the content is the essence! In any case, this lake is located about 50 kilometers from the city of Chelyabinsk, and most importantly, the fish (carp) found here are not at all funny in size.
It is there that, at the request of my friends, today I am taking three shoemakers and not even shoemakers, but “lace-makers,” since fishing for serious fish is the first time in their lives. There is a birthday boy among them, and I, as an instructor, received a gift from friends. I'm so happy! Friends make presents, and I have to sort things out. It’s always like this: some people chew bagels, others squint through their holes! Well, oh well - we are no strangers to straining our eyesight!
Passing the village of Khanzhino and the cemetery, we go to the left and, going around the dead lake, we go deeper into the forest belt. On this trip is a pediatrician, a professor of economics, and another member from trade affairs. Lake Treustan is a worthy South Ural water area in all respects - its depth is up to 14 meters, the overall lake landscape captures even the Kurgan region. The size of the fish (carp) is appropriate here. Let me just say: this is the only lake where last season the scaly monsters here broke both of my rods. And my fishing rods are far from paper! Well, okay, that's a thing of the past...
Having wandered around the lake district, we unloaded on the shore of one of the many bays not far from the village of Pashnino. At first glance, our place is inconspicuous and rarely visited. The main thing is that there are reeds here, and although they are small, I always caught fish in this place, even in bad weather. The reeds are 1.5-2 meters deep, and the water is full of snags. It’s no wonder that carp feel at home here.

In fact, a submerged iron box allows the fisherman to rise 40 centimeters above the water, which quite significantly facilitates his life at low temperatures. But, on the other hand, without certain skills, a support raised above the bottom at the moment of hooking a large fish becomes just a bedside table in the pool, from which it is very convenient to dive. Of course, I told about all this while on the road. Well, let's check what their hearing and memory are like...
…Having spread my cloak on the shore, I leaned against a snag and began to watch my venerable students. As a rule, when I’m an instructor, I don’t cast fishing rods; I don’t have time—the “kindergarten” requires an eye and an eye.
The day is passing, the sun is shining. Less than 20 minutes had passed before a meaty splash and native Russian speech were heard from the lake. Got it! Lake Treustan on the map
Lake Treustan is located in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the Chelyabinsk region, 35 km. southwest of Chelyabinsk on the border with the Kurgan region. The reservoir has no settlements. The nature has been preserved almost in its virgin form, although the lake is a commercial reservoir used by Chelyabrybkhoz OJSC.
Fishing and relaxation on Lake Treustan.
The bioresources of the lake were once maintained by stocking with fish, now by spawning, that is, by prohibiting fishing during the spawning period of fish.
The reservoir is home to many species of fish: silver carp, carp, chebak, carp, crucian carp, perch, pike perch, burbot and others.
The lake has an elongated shape with a very rugged coastline and several bays in which reeds and reeds grow. Its length is 12 km and its width reaches 4 km. The banks of Treustan are flat, but the eastern part is swampy. There are springs in the northern part of the reservoir.
The total area of the reservoir is 24 square meters. km. The maximum depth of its waters is 7 m, and on average it is 3 m. The water is slightly salty, which does not interfere with the normal development of ichthyofauna. The bottom of the lake is sandy and muddy.
In 2003, for an unknown reason, the surrounding forests to the east were flooded with water, the lake then expanded to 20 km, after which a dam was built, which protected nearby villages from flooding. Therefore, the lake’s water area (sometimes up to 200 m) consists of flooded forest plantations.
Along the banks there are remnants of coastal forest. Dead wood and driftwood give a unique look to the place. In summer, the water regularly blooms due to the decay of the remains of the flooded forest.

Lake Treustan is located in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the Chelyabinsk region. Of the large settlements, the city of Kopeysk is nearby; the distance to Chelyabinsk is approximately 47 km. This area is also home to the famous large Lake Sugoyak, on the shores of which there are a significant number of recreation centers offering a comfortable pastime in nature.
Features of the lake
According to one version, the name of the reservoir comes from a combination of words from the Turkic language: treuy means viscous, and stan means a place of settlement. It is associated with the natural features of the area.
The shores of the salt lake are flat, swampy in places, the bottom consists of silt and sand. There are a lot of flooded trees on Treustan; in shallow water you can see protruding trunks. The depth of the reservoir is from 2 to 7 meters, the water is not very transparent. The length of the lake is approximately 12 km; it is quite possible to find a secluded area. There are no settlements on the shore; the nearest villages are several kilometers away. Due to natural features, there are no conditions for a beach holiday; there is no equipped recreational infrastructure in the area - bases and sanatoriums.
But the lake is extremely popular among fishermen due to the large number of fish living in it.

What makes fishing on Treustan unique is that any carp fishing spot (with the exception of chistina) is a complete hindrance (forest, snags) for the fishing itself, and most importantly, a decent depth, which does not allow, even with a powerful stick and forceful hooking, to immediately tear the fish off the bottom . Usually, you can “accept” a fish without interference at a depth of up to two meters, when you don’t need to drag the struggling prey through the water, but here, on Treustan, it’s not so simple! The snagged forest edge, where carp fishing mainly occurs, is up to five meters deep in some parts of the reservoir. Five meters is no longer a big deal! In addition, imagine if you were bitten not by some small carp weighing up to three kilograms, but by a nuclear “Yuri Dolgoruky” (I didn’t catch such in this lake myself, but I saw carp from fishermen weighing over 20 keg)! So what to do then? Where should I write SOS?
...The carp seemed to hear me, turned towards the boat and, after swimming about half a meter, stood up. What's happened? What happens in the lake forest? Of course, not mushrooms and berries, but driftwood, of which there are more here than there are fleas on a mongrel. That's it, tryndets - a herd of oars and ears of sushi!

A minute later, I picked up my wet stick with a cut fishing line from the water and, having somehow tidied up the boat, went to the next lighthouse, which glowed invitingly 30 meters away on a gnarled pine tree. Soon the boat was moored, the wet sleeves were wrung out, and there was only one problem: how to adjust the fishing rod in the dark? There is no lantern, the moon has also disappeared somewhere, and my father and mother did not teach me how to see in the dark... It happens!
- Well, dear, how are you? — like a jack-in-the-box, Seryoga suddenly appeared from the darkness and, tied to my boat, began to illuminate me with a lantern. - I, too, just lost my hook. And he didn’t even have time to hook - someone pecked and immediately hooked him, parasite!
- Yes, when fishing here, clicking your beak is only handing out cheese to the foxes! — Having soon restored the rig, I aimed the rebuilt float at the dark forest. - Why did you take off? Is that all?

... It bit without any warning: it didn’t drive, it didn’t squat - the float stood, swayed on the light ripples and suddenly disappeared! I even rubbed my eyes, didn’t it seem...
This time I didn’t try to be too fussy and, like a lever, resting the butt of a heavy stick against myself, I forcefully dragged the fish towards me. Khi-i-i - the five-meter "Delphi" creaked, and immediately it was felt that the carp, obeying the pressure of the fishing rod, broke away from the bottom and, becoming almost a "modest girl", so to speak, walked down the aisle...
But it was too early to try on the “bear skin”: all obedience lasted no more than five seconds, after which the fish again remembered its fate in the frying pan and waved its powerful tail. Pull and pull, strain the muscle! Left, right - look, bravo! And all because the fish had to deal with a special heavy whip (“Delphi”, under bamboo), just for such cases when fishing conditions require serious gear. Of course, it is difficult and inconvenient to swing such a heavy club, but what can you do, prey requires sacrifice! Right in front of the boat, apparently with the last of its strength, the carp fluffed itself up near the side and rushed back into the forest plantings, but I didn’t let go and pressed the whip even more. In general, he would have fought more, but he would have broken his tail!
Having dragged the prey to the boat and holding the fishing line with one hand (I fish without a landing net), I lower the other into the water and place my palm under the belly of the fish. Here he is, a fat karpusha! About five or six kilograms...
Five minutes later, having made a bridle from a nylon cord, I put the caught scaly captive on it, then I tie the kukan to a nearby tree and go to the next firefly. The mood is higher than the stars!
... It’s morning, four o’clock, the horizon is brightening, a light breeze is licking the boat like a wave, but for some reason the fish has gone to bed, even the crucian carp are not biting. But it’s not our rule to give up: half an hour to check one feeding place - no bites, throw up the bait and move to the next forest “clearing”. And so on in a circle until the hands fall off. The further into the forest, the less firewood! This means that it’s August—summer is ending, which means it’s time to tune in to predatory fish. But where can you get pike and pike perch? In the lake district, the fishermen have caught everything; all that remains is to go to the Volga or Turgai. Although who and where needed freeloaders...
July 30
— Lake Achlikul, carp. Yes, we really caught some good fish here, but it’s just a no brainer: if you’re lying on the sofa, you’ll just fall into it!
As it turned out from the local population, in May-June they caught bags of carp from the shore on donkeys, and the fish were caught up to 8 kg, but now these bags have run out. Result: 4 bites - 3 fish, the largest - 3.6 kg.
August 1
— Lake Chebarkul, bream. We were vacationing at a friend’s dacha, and of course, being on the shore and not casting a fishing rod - this can’t happen! We fished from a boat near the island (depth 6 m), and the rumors that bream bite well on Chebarkul did not come true. Although there should be a serious approach to any fishing (reconnaissance, search for fish), but with a swoop you only bite with a swipe!
During 3 hours of fishing for maggots, 8 bream (150–300 g) were caught, plus a dozen even smaller chebaks. And only one fish, biting on the bread, caught 800 g. In general, boot fishing is for summer residents!
August 3rd
— Lake Treustan, perch. Recently our friends were here and, having not caught any carp or crucian carp, they decided to catch perch, which is what they did best: they hooked a worm, the perch pecked 70-120 g.
We decided to cheat and took the fry with us. We fished opposite the rock behind the Federkulsky Bay at a depth of 3 to 5 m, and we came across perches of quite reasonable sizes: for every 5 heads of small fish released, one was caught. Result: 7 kg (200–500 g).
