Key features of cooking silver carp in the oven

Due to the high fat content, this fish is recommended only to be baked and not fried (or steamed), so as not to increase the load on the digestive tract. And it is precisely because of this fat content that silver carp does not require the introduction of additional sauces based on sour cream, mayonnaise or butter, since the meat will be soaked in its own juices during baking. Regarding working with silver carp, experts give several recommendations:

  • If you don't know what to bake this fish with, use carrots, lemon or onions.
  • Feel free to add any dry vegetables (like potatoes) to the silver carp: they will be saturated with fish fat and become soft.
  • Do not overdo it with spices, otherwise the delicate taste of silver carp will be lost. Limit yourself to a bouquet of dill, bay leaf and a mixture of ground peppers.
  • Garlic is one of those products that should not be added to this fish.
  • Removing the bones from the carcass before cooking it is optional: they are just as easily separated from the finished silver carp.

Silver carp steak in the oven with orange glaze

An unusual recipe that became my favorite from the first try. For 1 kg of silver carp cut into portions, you need to take 1 tablespoon of liquid honey, the juice of one large orange, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, salt and pepper to taste. Mix all the products for the future glaze. If desired, you can add a couple of sprigs of fresh rosemary. Marinate the fish in this mixture for 1 hour. Then remove, place in a greased baking dish, drizzle with the remaining orange-honey glaze, cover with foil and bake until done. Before removing, open the foil and let a crispy crust form.
